Shenshi 4 mixed with HD Pecan shade makes the perfect warm golden tone I need god this photographs so well. I love it creamy and gentle on the skin and long wearing.

I am a slightly neutral NW10-15 for reference. I tried the Matte Foundation in SH-1 Fairest. Neither the formula nor the color worked for me. Essentially this foundation was heavy feeling, yet was not full coverage, and the shade was a little yellow. Like NC15. Just not for me.

At first I thought I had found my HG. The color selection is great, the price is unbeatable, it performes so well. HOWEVER, I got kind of scared off when I checked the ingredients on a “comedogenic ingredients list” on the web. Somehow my conscience can’t agree with putting this on my skin anymore. Too bad…

I have a hard time finding foundations that match my skin because the shades are always too pink, peach, orange. This stuff has enough yellow in it and matches my skin perfectly!
I have really oily, acne-prone skin and it doesn’t break me out but I wish it controlled oil a little better. It leaves me matte for a little while but I still get a shiny face at the end of the day.
I wear MAC C25 and Illuminare Florentine Fair. The Ben Nye provides heavy coverage and comes in a pot. You can dip your fingers in the pot or use a sponge like I do for quick and easy application.

Trying to find your perfect shade on the internet is tough. Looks much darker in the pot. I use both the ‘fairest’ and ‘fair’ in the Shinsei Series. Wonderful coverage. You can use it straight as a concealer or on a damp sponge for lighter coverage. Great staying power. No change in color over a long day. A bargin compared to what could be spent between a high-quality foundation and concealer.

This series is described in the Ben Nye catalog and the web sites carrying these products as “One of the most popular series originally designed for Asian and olive complexions, Shinsei shades offer attractive neutrality and subtle color for a variety of skin tones”. I found this to be neutral and covered up redness. I would think those who use MAC’s NC Series would be able to use this as well. The only reason why I wouldn’t buy a shade in this series again is because I found the Natural Olive Series was better for my golden olive skin.
