This product is very expensive, but it will last a very long time. If you get the right shade, it goes on like liquid skin. It is the best foundation I have ever used and it makes redness and blemishes disappear. It is an amazing product If you want to look like you aren’t wearing makeup but have perfect skin. This is my Holy Grail foundation, hands down. Sadly, it’s too expensive to wear every day, so it isn’t my every day foundation, so I wear it on nights out or when I want to look and feel extra good. The good thing is a little goes a long way. Seriously, you only need a tiny amount and it applies like a dream. It makes my skin look flawless…more of a soft focus look instead of dewy. It’s really amazing stuff! If you can’t afford to make the plunge, go to Nordstrom and ask for a sample packet. Like their awesome concealer, this foundation is one of my must-haves. Highly recommended!

Well crappity crap crap! I had been reading reviews of this pretty much everywhere and it seemed like the fountain of youth.
I had been using (predominantly) Dior Capture Totale foundation and love it, but I thought I would give the Cle De Peau a shot. I had a Drs. appt. so I put my face on with this for the first time and wasn’t thrilled about it in my mirror, but it wasn’t awful.
When I got to the Drs., I took a selfy to see how it looked in different lighting. (Didn’t have a mirror with me) Oh. My. God. I could not have looked older if a movie special effects professional tried to age me for a movie.
It showed lines I truly didn’t even know I had. My pores that haven’t been awful since I’m middle-aged now, all of a sudden looked like craters on my face. I literally can’t think of a positive regarding this. It’s too expensive, it ages you, my skin is dry and it further dried it, all in all, awful!

When applied carefully and sparingly, this is a beautiful foundation that produces a flawless appearance! It covers “fine” lines and blurs imperfections. The B20 is a lovely match for my fair skin with slightly pink under tones. Unfortunately, I have deep forehead wrinkles and a the big “11” between my eyes and the foundation slightly settled in the lines. I also noticed it slightly emphasized a dry patch on my chin.
If you have mature skin, be sure to keep your skin moisturized and exfoliated if you choose this one. I don’t recommend for very dry skin in winter. This wears well for about 5-6 hours. Because of price, I can only give this product 4 lippies. I’d recommend for those with great skin that is only slightly dry or mature with very few fine lines. As much as I like this foundation, I would not purchase as my review is based off a week’s sample.

Pricy but well worth it!! I alternate between this foundation and Georgio Armani in the winter months when I am needing a little more coverage. Gives my skin an airbrushed look, and it goes on pretty well.

I’ve used so many high end foundations but this is my favorite by far!!! (This and Sisley’s phyto liquid foundation). Both Sisley’s and Cle de peau’s are extremily expensive… well over $100CAD each. but they’re just SOOO much better than the other brands like Guerlain, Dior, Bobbi Brown etc. The finish on both are perfect and luminous. the lasting power on both last all day. And best of all, the FEEL of both – you don’t even know you’re wearing foundation. you don’t get that sticky feel on your face, you can literally put your hands on your face and not worry about smudging.
The difference between the two are that Sisley’s is less coverage. I would recommend it to those who don’t have bad skin. so the face looks more natural with your freckles showing through. Cle de peau’s is much more coverage, yet not cakey at all. still looks natural, but covers freckles.

This foundation is truly holy grail status for me. I’ve been searching for a medium coverage, matte finish that stays all day but doesn’t suck the moisture from my face and cause dry patches. I’ve tried a number of foundations from drug store brands to high end department stores brands. I get close with a good color match, but then the finish isn’t quite right. Or I can find a nice finish but the color doesn’t appear natural on me.
I have fair 50 something year old skin with pink undertones and the beauty specialist put me in the I01 shade. This shade is perfect for my NW15 coloring. So while that is just one piece of the puzzle so to speak, it is one of the most important in my book. The finish with this foundation is what sets it apart from the other brands. Just soft and a truly flawless finish that does last all day. I do have to powder my nose mid-day but otherwise still looks great and doesn’t dry out my skin.
This foundation is very pricey but so worth it to finally be finished with the search.
Update: been using this for a couple of weeks and still loving it. The color match is the best I’ve ever had and the finish is like no makeup at all but just flawless skin. I do have to powder my nose a couple of times a day. It’s worth it to have such a great natural finish. I’ve tried many matte long wearing foundations to try to get longer times between blotting. Interestingly enough, they really don’t last much longer than this foundation. And the finish of those other foundations doesn’t even come close to the CDP.

Mychelle has recently discontinued all of their makeup products, which is a shame because they were natural and great quality. I really enjoyed using this foundation. It provided medium coverage and left my skin looking smooth and slightly dewey. I have oily skin so this was great. I also liked the ease of application using the stick.

I have gone through several of these now, so I figured it was time for a review!
What can I say? I love these foundation sticks. I have discovered that I can use the Porcelain or the Ivory shade and both seem to work very well for my skintone. In fact, the Ivory is pretty much a very flattering dead ringer. I love to apply this and then buff it out with a beauty blender – it leaves pretty flawless coverage for me. The scent of the sticks is very nice, too…almost a sort of fruity scent.
The price of the sticks are a little steep for nearly $28, but I caught them on sale around Thanksgiving on Mychelle’s website for half price and bought a bunch of backups, and you can certainly find them cheaper from time to time on other retailers’ sites. The product lasts for quite awhile…I haven’t had to repurchase too often since I’ve started using this.

This review if for the Ivory Creamy Foundation. COLOR: It’s between a level 1 and level 2, neutral (I am a level 2 slight gold tone and this in nearly perfect for Fall/Winter. It is neither too pink or gold. This would ideal for the level 1 wanting a slight sun-kissed look in the Summer. COVERAGE: Good thing that this is not advertised as full coverage. You can get almost full coverage initially, but this formula is not meant to last as such. Consider this moderate coverage if you don’t have oily skin. FINISH: very, very luminous. If you want to re-create the look of skin in a perfume ad you will be very pleased! DURATION OF WEAR: around 3-6 hours but don’t test it by touching your face. It does rub off in a flash. Blowing your nose, dabbing your forehead, getting a massage…forget it! HEALTH FACTOR: Like all of Mychelle, it feels healthful and safe. There is no irritation for me with this foundation, none. FEEL: As named, it is creamy and I would add that it is so wonderfully soothing. SCENT: It’s a delicious, mild, and fruity. SKIN TYPE: Avoid if you have oily skin since it is too soft, shiny and probably won’t stay on. Combination is okay and doesn’t seem to aggravate/clog my acne prone skin. Dry skin ladies wanting glow definitely go for this one!

I’m shocked there’s not more reviews on this product. Anyway, I’m on Accutane now, so my skin is really dry and this is the only reason I’m able to use this product. I tried it a couple years ago when my skin is in it’s normal state (oily) and I’ve tried it when the Accutane was starting to kick in and my skin became Normal/combo and I was unable to use it.
This product is very, very oily and is literally a cream that never becomes a powder, so the finish is a creamy, dewy finish, rather than a matte finish. So, right off the bat, the product description on the site is an outright lie. My skin is incredibly dry right now, so if this product won’t absorb into my skin; it’s not absorbing into anyone’s skin! For this reason, I don’t feel this product can work for people with any other skin type than dry, unless you dig the oily look. On top of that, you’ll actually feel it on your skin. It’s not just as if the product looks dewy, but isn’t dewy to the touch; it’ll actually feel sticky on your skin. It even feels sticky on mine right now.
Also, the coverage is incredibly sheer, next to nothing. I have a lot of post acne scarring and I knew it wouldn’t cover that, but it doesn’t even conceal the mild ruddiness my naturally fair skin has without makeup. So, it’s essentially an oil based tinted moisturizer in a convenient stick applicator (I’m a big fan of the stick applicator).
With all that said, I’m using it now because I apply my loose mineral powder foundation on top of it and it adheres to it like nothing else. Because of this, I can use a lot less of the powder to get full coverage over my problem areas and since my skin is dry, the powder absorbs most of the oily residue the product leaves on my face and makes my skin look slightly dewy. Don’t try to use a powder foundation on top that is already producing the “dewy” effect—only go for matte, otherwise you’ll really end up looking greasy, even if you’re not actually greasy at the moment.
This product also doesn’t react with my skin, which is a big plus. In the past when I tried it and it didn’t work with my oily skin, I’ve been using the rest as an eye primer (it lasts forever that way) and I really love it for that. It gives a nice hint of coverage and mineral eye shadow sticks to it and stays put all day long. It’s also moisturizing and gentle enough to use in that area.
Also, I went hiking today in 90 degree heat and was literally dripping sweat for hours. I thought my makeup would have slipped off my face at the end of the day, but when I got back in the car and took a tissue to blot off the sweat, my makeup was completely unaltered, which absolutely amazed me!
The verdict: if you have dry skin, try it, but you’ll need a powder foundation to set it. All other skin types—you can try it, but it will most likely feel greasy and look greasy, even if you put powder on top of it. I wish Mychelle would come out with another formula for people with normal-oily skin.
Oh and for my NC 15 skin tone, I use the shade Ivory and since it’s very sheer, there’s a lot of lee way with color choice. The next color up, Porcelain, looks much, much darker (I saw a review on Youtube). So anyone with Fair skin should stick with Ivory.
****EDIT**** I’m dropping my rating down to 1 lippie because this product does break me out. Also, the color, as sheer as it is, is altering the shade of my mineral foundation and making it appear darker than it is. So, overall, this product breaks me out, is incredibly sheer, oily, and the lightest color is “off”. Oh well, it will become another eye primer once I finally finish up the last one.

I am giving this a 4 not a 5, because it’s not a perfect product (for me), but truth be told, it’s the product I reach for every morning. I have fair slightly reddish tinted skin that I like to neutralize with a more yellow-ish foundation or powder. I don’t usually wear the lightest foundation or powder shade – I usually wear the second lightest. In this product I wear Ivory, which may be the lightest (not sure.) It works reasonably well to even out skin tone and cover some of my red capillaries on the sides of my nose, reddish spots on my chin, etc. I don’t really have dark circles under my eyes or many blemishes so I’m not using it for that. I think if I did, the coverage on this might not be enough. It’s more of a “tinted moisturizer” level of light coverage, rather than a medium or heavy foundation coverage. I find it also feels nice on the skin like a moisturizer, has a pleasant natural sweet scent, and blends easily and well. It does leave the skin feeling and looking a bit “dewy” – I might prefer a more matte look and if I had very oily skin or was younger this might not work for me. As it is, it’s fine, and my skin no longer breaks out from moisturizing products as it did in my younger days. I like to layer some powder on top of this when I have time or throughout the day (I like Gabriel’s pressed powder or the Natural Wet ‘n’ Wild powder product in Bare).

This foundation feels good on my skin but has an odd smell. Doesn’t break out my very acne-prone skin. The packaging could be better because when I raised the stick to apply, I couldn’t roll it back down without pushing with my fingers.

I bought this because I wanted a natural foundation that wasn’t loose minerals. I really like it. It’s moisturizing enough that I don’t even need to put moisturizer on my face prior to the foundation. It’s a light to medium coverage with a slightly dewy finish. I do feel the need to give my face a light dusting of minerals to set it especially in my oilier spots, but it works well for me even in the Texas summer heat. I’m still shopping around for cream mineral foundations, but until I find one I like better, this one works just fine.

I got a sample of this product in shade 102 and it is ok match for my skin. It is an expensive product, but I like it a lot. It’s a medium to full coverage foundation and I wouldn’t use it everyday, special occasions only. It just leaves my skin looking beautiful.

An elegant foundation for special occasions. I think the foundation I am reviewing must be an updated version because mine comes with a black lid. I wouldn`t wear this every day, because it is so pricey (¥8800) and I prefer products that have a more natural list of ingredients. Blends easily, very high coverage without looking fake and made-up. I have combination to oily skin, so I would skip moisturizer/primer with this one. The sales assistant did the entire routine on me, with the Suqqu Lotion and Moisture Barrier Cream, which would be a lovely treatment for someone with very dry skin, but which broke me out after just a few hours. Haven`t had any breakouts when I wear just the foundation itself. Also amazed at the lasting power even for my oily T-zone.
I`ve been wearing this for 2.5 weeks now, and unlike some of the folks here I haven`t had any breakouts even though my skin can be quite oily. This could be because it is winter here (not sure honestly if I could wear this in summer, will update on this later), or maybe because I use a very small amount of product. You really don`t need that much, even for high coverage. I`ve tried using a face brush but I must admit fingers work much better. Then finish off cleaning excess from skin with either a sponge or a kabuki brush to get a more natural look.

I am reviewing the Frame Fix Cream Foundation. I purchased this together with the liquid version at Selfridges. It was very expensive – £65 for 30g!!.
It is a really nice product. My own personal preference but I tend to have 2 foundations on the go at once. One cream and the other liquid so that I can “up” the coverage on those bad days when I need it. The liquid foundation whilst good, for events and sometimes to cover up imperfections, the cream consistency just works better.
This offers medium to full coverage. It comes in a small glass jar with a black lid. It doesn’t look cakey. Overall, the product gives a matte/glowy look. It lasts all day and I normally just need to touch up with a little bit of powder at lunch time.
I have actually found that now that we are approaching winter, I tend to reach for the cream foundation because it is more moisturising than the liquid version.

One of the worse products ever.I have a fair skin, it,s very hard to get colour from suqqu foundation. that will suits my skin.
After 2 months of using that my pores very compeletly blocked.I ended up doing facial and bought today my previous foundation from Shisheido.
Foundation is n a glass jar, i travel a lot.I dropped it once and unfortunatelly glass jar was broken, compeletly useless.You have to be careful when you keep it in your hand or travel with your cosmetics.
I wouldn,t recommed it to anyone with oily/mixed skin.

I am finally ready to review this foundation after using it on and off for 6 months. Unfortunately, this is one very expensive foundation that didn’t work for me. I didn’t get that “natural, dewy” look or “my skin, but better” look that I read about and expected from this product. I tried using my fingers, a makeup sponge, and a stippling brush, but still cannot achieve the dewy look I can get with my much cheaper Laura Mercier TM. The Suqqu doesn’t blend well at all. It doesn’t melt into your skin like TMs do. Rather, it’s a bit mask like on me and highlights the dry spots around my nose. As the day wears on, my face gets drier and drier with the Suqqu foundation. Often by dinner time, my face would be extremely dry with dry patches everywhere.
I don’t know if I just got a defective product. I mail ordered the Suqqu from DollyLeo in the UK (since we can’t buy this stuff in the US). I am also somewhat disappointed by the packaging. First, the packaging was very “minimalistic”- and not in a good way. The black paper box contained just the jar of foundation and a plastic scooper. There were no sponge included, like I had read in some of the online reviews. There were not even any written information included with the product. (Not that I need an explanation of how to use foundation, but most cosmetic products come with some sort of instruction/ ingredient list.) Also, I found it odd that the cap of my jar was white and not black like I’ve seen in the newer online reviews. (The stock photo MUA shows on this page is the older white cap version I received.) So, I’m a little skeptical about DollyLeo’s inventory. I sent them an email to inquire, but never got a response. I wouldn’t order anything from them again.
Long story short, I’m very disappointed by the purchase.

The best foundation ever (after a life-long search…). Having dry skin I’ve had difficulties to find the right foundation.
I use Suqqu in 03b, which is a neutral beige tone, suiting to my rather pale skin. It’s fool-proof to use, glides on easily – I put it on with my fingers. Medium coverage, very natural looking, absolutely non-drying. It feels so light and uncomplicated – I guess that’s what you pay the GBP 60.00 for… Still, it’s amazingly good.

I just found out that Sephora no longer carries Illamasqua, while stocking up at VIB Rouge discount time. 🙁 AND I just found out on the Illamasqua site that this is discontinued! For me, this is the perfect creme foundation. From the previous comments on how difficult this product is to blend, I think I am using it differently, since I find it very easy to blend. After moisturizer and sunscreen I use a little bit of Clarins Lisse Minute primer, then a thin layer of NARS tinted moisturizer, then dab fingers in the Illamasqua creme foundation and blend a thin layer on. Creme blush then set with Koh Gen Do Natural Lighting Powder. Together these products give a nice smooth look that doesn’t settle into lines etc. I’ve tried many creme and stick foundations, and this one has the best feel and playtime in blending. It doesn’t feel greasy to me, I find it to be a little more tacky than greasy. I treat it in a way like I treat Sensual Skin Enhancer (Kevyn Aucoin) – a little goes a long way. And since it is discontinued, what I have left will need to go a long way. Sigh.

First of all, I got this foundation in the Illamasqua January sale for £4.50 so I can’t complain too much! I certainly wouldn’t have paid the full price of £23, especially as I totally winged it on the shade I purchased. You get 8g of product, which I personally feel is quite overpriced even though you don’t need to use too much of it as it’s a very high coverage foundation.
I purchased the shade 133 (since discontinued) which is described for light skin with neutral undertones, but I found it did run quite yellow but I don’t mind much as it did match my skin really well, probably one of the best colour matches I’ve had for my awkward pale skin. For reference, my normal foundation is Lancome’s Teint Idole Ultra 24H in the shade 005 and I’m around as light as NC15 but not as yellow.
I must say I have a bit of a gripe with Illamasqua’s packaging… Only a few of their products have view windows and several products are in the same size packaging (for example, this is the same size as the lipstick palette), making it so you have to look on the bottom of the compact to see what product you’re picking up. Not good if you’re in a rush… I also find the shade names have a tendency to rub off which is obviously not helpful at all. One upside is that it comes with a mirror on the inside which is useful for on-the-go touchups.
As mentioned, this is a heavy coverage foundation. It does have a tendency to look mask like if you aren’t careful. It reminds me of stage makeup actually. I find it sets quite quickly so you need to work quickly to both blend and set, as if you let it dry and set down without setting it with powder it will just settle into any lines you have and be very difficult to blend out again. As with other Illamasqua foundations (*ahem Rich Liquid*) it does cling to dry patches and you must moisturise really well and it’s probably best to use a primer too. I’ve never tried applying it with a brush, and I got the best results using a damp Beauty Blender type sponge, though it still manages to look a bit cakey around my forehead… I think that’s true of a lot of cream products though. I also find it ‘grabs’ the colour pigment of powder… Benefit’s Agent Zero Shine is meant to be pretty much colourless when blended, but this foundation seemed to pick up all the pigment and then I just couldn’t get it to blend out…
Provided you set it with a good powder (I also use a setting spray), it does last me all day, with maybe some touchups on my nose which does get a little oily. To me this would only be a Winter foundation as it’s way too heavy for Summer use.
While it’s a nice foundation, I don’t think I would repurchase even if this shade was still available because for what it is and the amount of product you get it is expensive, and the formula does leave a bit to be desired. Maybe worth a try if you can pick it up on sale like me though!

I’ve never used Illamasqua products before, however, I was on the hunt for a white foundation to use for a Halloween look. It couldn’t find one anywhere when finally a friend recommended me Illamasqua.
I didn’t want to spend too much money for a foundation that I would only use once so I was doubtful that the price range would be suitable for my needs, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the CF100 (white) cream foundation was on clearance from $35 AUD to $12 AUD. I immediately purchased it.
I’d never used a cream foundation before so I didn’t know what to expect but the texture of this foundation seems so DRY and THICK. I have very dry skin so I decided to try a damp sponge but that didn’t work so then I tried a damp foundation brush. I found application to be very difficult despite adequate moisturiser and primer use beforehand. It felt so thick and it was such a chore to spread it over my face. The brush marks were very visible on my skin and although I bought this foundation purely for theatrical purposes and it wasn’t supposed to look natural on me, I definitely wouldn’t consider using this range of foundation for anything other than theatrical purposes.
If you are looking for a white foundation I hear they also have a liquid version in the shade ‘pure white’ perhaps application would be easier with that formulation.
In conclusion, I can’t complain because I got this white foundation for such a cheap price!

Illamasqua is a good brand, yet this foundation is possibly one of the worst products, let alone foundations, I’ve ever tried. I tried this about a year ago, and it still sits in my collection, untouched after my dreaded experience with it!
At the time, my skin was prominently dry and I had the odd oily patch on my chin and sides of my nose but nothing bad enough to need to powder or blot. This was why I loved to use luxurious, creamy foundation.
This foundation wasn’t the most flattering on blemishes or dry patches, highlighting some flaky parts of my face. It was okay in regards to blending in, nothing too difficult but not exactly a joy to work with. The coverage is medium, but the finish is just strange, it looks tacky.
I was horrified to see within 1 hour my skin was so shiny and oily, it was disgusting! I couldn’t quite believe how terribly oily and greasy my skin was and looked. It was so bad that, when I was doing a primary school workshop, a child commented how hot and warm i looked… How embarrassing? i was so consious of how bad my skin looked And it didn’t last very long. It was truly gross and vile.
Some pros would be that the packaging is nice with a big mirror, but slightly chunky and the price isn’t horrific. Also, they have an amazing range of shades!
Overall, this was a dreadful foundation and I would be very surprised if it worked for anyone. I doubt it would compliment any skin type.

Oh, Illamasqua, sometimes I think you do this to me on purpose. I just can’t think of any other reason why a brand’s foundations can be so good in so many ways– great colour range, nice finish, long wear, fantastic coverage– and yet be so utterly, infamously bad in two ways, difficult application and being incredibly unforgiving on imperfect skin.
I’ve been using Bare Minerals for a while, having finished my bottle of RF115, but I was missing having a foundation that matched my skin rather than fake-tanned it. So when I saw that Illamasqua were having a big sale on lots of their products I swooped in and picked up a compact of CF115 right away.
Firstly, I think Illamasqua designs their foundations as heat-seekers for flakes. If you have any dry skin on your face at all– if you have just exfoliated and moisturised like you’re being paid for it– it will cling to dry skin you didn’t even know you had. There should be a name for this. (“Did you see those gigantic flakes? D’you think she even looked in a mirror this morning?” “Yeh, poor woman, worst case of ‘Illamasqua nose’ I’ve seen in a long time.”)
Secondly, applying Illamasqua foundation is always a bit like running a race with your own makeup routine. Ready, set, go! Can you blend your whole face in before it sets like concrete? No?! Too bad, time’s up!
I loved the coverage and creaminess when I first tried it on, until it set like rock and I couldn’t blend it properly. All the same the finish was nice; semi-matte satin, not the most fashionable finish for the season, but one I like as a nice compromise between dead matte and dewy. It’s a little like the finish of bone china and to be honest I like it a lot better than the vampire-matte look of the rich foundation or the you-tried-for-a-BB-cream-look-but-didn’t-quite-get-there finish of the light foundation. It’s a fresh, natural-skin look.
When I mixed this foundation on my brush with my primer (Bare Minerals Prime Time), it had a much more pleasing consistency and was much easier to apply. It also didn’t cling to my dry skin that way, as I was using far less of the product to cover my whole face. I used a Real Techniques pointed foundation brush to apply and blended with the RT buffing brush. I then applied a very light layer of my Bare Minerals foundation just to set it all in place (as it’s so sheer in one coat that it doesn’t discolour the lighter CF115, and I love BM for being so forgiving to imperfections). It looks very nice that way and I think I’ve found my ideal application.
It doesn’t work so well with the creases around my nose or fine lines under my eyes, but once applied mixed in with the primer it becomes very easy to buff over the day to smooth things out.
I’m torn over the scent. Illamasqua’s vanilla-cupcakes smell is a bit love-it-or-hate-it and personally I really like it, but I don’t remember the RF’s scent lasting this long. Four hours later I still keep catching a whiff of my foundation. I suppose it’s nice as it’s not inharmonious with my usual honey- and rose-scented body products, but if I’m ever gothing it up (and Illamasqua products are sublimely suited to that purpose, pasty pale foundation shades like this included), I’m not sure it’d go so well with my gothy perfumes (mm, leather, amber, and cupcakes). If I can smell my compact from a distance and I can also smell the product on my face, I’m pretty sure others are going to be able to smell it too if they’re any closer than talking distance and if I wanted to wear perfume, I’d wear perfume.
Sadly it’s been discontinued, which is how I bought it for £10 on the Illamasqua site in the sales. However, if they ever come out with a clone of it then I wouldn’t mind another one. Illamasqua has its pros and cons but I’ve never found another foundation shade that matches and compliments my skin tone as perfectly as 115– a gorgeous true porcelain and an absolute, perfect neutral that tones down my pinkness without ever veering into yellow or grey. That’s why I’ll always keep coming back to Illamasqua. I’ve yet to find my HG foundation but if Illamasqua could ever just fix their dry skin problem, it’d be one of theirs.

This was my first Illamasqua foundation, and unfortunately I wasn’t overly impressed with it. I have since tried other foundations from this brand, and have had better results with those.
EDIT: I’d like to preface the following by saying this has performed slightly better in the colder months. The product itself feels a little stiffer and thicker in the pan, I find I don’t need to use quite as much to get coverage, and it applies somewhat more evenly and adheres to the skin a bit better. It still has some issues with not blending into itself quite as well as it could, and it comes away in some spots if it’s not carefully applied, but not nearly as much as in warmer weather. I find it wears a little longer on the skin too. I’d guess that as it was formulated in the UK it was developed in a cooler climate, and as such, the product may perform differently in other climates.
First off, it’s tricky to work with. Actually, I take that back, it’s not tricky, it’s a nightmare to work with. It’s a very thick cream formula, and it does feel just as thick when applied to the face. It’s difficult to blend into itself and cover areas uniformly. I’ve played around a little with application (and have wasted heaps of product in the process) and have found I can achieve the best results for my skin by priming, leaving that to set for a few minutes, then applying the foundation with a slightly damp stipple brush, working in sections to stipple it onto the skin and very slightly blending out that section (but with more of a stipple motion than a blending one if you know what I mean), until the whole face is covered, and dampening the brush some more when it starts to get dry. I have also tried applying with the included sponge, but that didn’t give a very nice finish at all and almost wiped or blotted away areas where I’d applied if I went back over to build it up. It really needed to be applied in a patting and rolling motion, not a sweeping one. A dry foundation brush didn’t fair much better, and a flat top buffer I usually use for cream foundations didn’t do the job, but a beauty blender type sponge gave a bit more in the way of even coverage if I rolled and pressed onto my skin as with the sponge. I did find if I had areas that were a bit bare or had worn away, I could pat some extra product on with my fingers, rather than trying to blend more in and upset the finish. The key I’ve found for my face is that it needs to be patted and rolled onto the skin and not swept on or blended otherwise it will move. I can achieve a build up of product to vary the coverage if I use the patting and rolling method. But, even then I still have to take care, because if I pat and roll too firmly it also takes off product. Ughhh.
Being a thick product, it does offer medium to full coverage if you can get the application to work for you, but will only offer light coverage and may be patchy if you aren’t super careful in application. That loses big points in my book, as I want products that work well, but aren’t a hassle to apply. Having said that, once I got the application to work reasonably ok for me, I really did like the finish, it covered nicely and didn’t look too bad on my skin, it gave a sort of slightly dewy semi matte satin finish. Finishing it with translucent powder also improved the finish and took away the look of product settling around pores. Though if I applied too much product, it settled around pores and looked awful.
I found it needed to be set with a translucent powder if I wanted slightly longer wear, as I find it starts to wear away after only a few hours without it. As with applying the foundation itself, I need to pat on the powder and not sweep it on as it will move the product (a good rule of thumb to make the most of all foundations, but this one is especially susceptible to movement). With powder it lasts around five hours or so, so I only use when I’m not going to be wearing makeup for a long time. It definitely doesn’t agree with an Australian summer and melts away rather quickly in the heat, so I may save this for winter months and see how it goes, but I’m not holding my breath. I also found if it gets anywhere near my waterproof mascara, it will smudge the mascara, and I’ve never had that happen before.
Colour wise, I purchased 210, which is medium with neutral undertones, which leans ever so slightly gold. For a medium shade it is on the lighter side, and the undertones aren’t as neutral as I thought they’d be, they’re more of a balanced peachy colour, which I quite like as I have gold and rose undertones and often find some neutrals too washed out and ashy. I hesitate to give any colour comparisons to other brands as I’m currently in the process of trying out a few different foundation colours as I’ve been getting a lot less sun than usual and my regular foundation colours are a smidge too dark for me at the moment.
Packaging, as others have mentioned, isn’t the most function friendly. Its design doesn’t leave a space for the included sponge, so you will either need to rest it on top of the product and have it squished in, or leave it out entirely. It’s also hard to open, I find it’s easiest if you open form the corners by pulling apart with both hands, rather than opening from the middle. It is a pretty packaging design visually, but not practical. The package appearance is probably the only thing it’s got going for it and is the only reason I’m giving this a one star rating instead of a zero (that, and the fact it’s not washed out for a neutral shade).
I purchased this at their recent winter sale, and it looks like it’s being discontinued, which is not at all surprising. I think if I had paid full price, I would have been kicking myself for not choosing another foundation instead of this one. If you can get application down, it may come out as passable, it’s just the multitude of flaws from application to packaging to wear length that lets this down immen

This goes on – and looks – like pancake makeup. The first time I put it on (using the included sponge) I felt like I was backstage getting ready for a broadway show. It’s thick and heavy and doesn’t spread or blend easily so it’s difficult to get even coverage. It’s the kind of product you can really feel on your face, which is quite unpleasant.
I experimented with this a bit, using different application methods, but it was just too greasy and thick and the color match was awful so I finally gave up. I ordered it in CF 133 “for light skin with neutral undertones.” It’s not neutral at all. It’s really yellow (not like yellow undertone, but full-on yellow) and made me look sallow. For reference I’m a Dior 20 (light beige) LM #2/Blush.
My other gripes: they include a sponge but the sponge does not fit into the compact. Most other brands’ cream compact foundations include a space for their application tool, which makes them portable and user-friendly. The fact that this compact is huge but lacking a spot to hold a sponge drops it way down on the practicality scale. You also have to jam your fingernail into the clasp to get it open, which is another real annoyance.

This has probably got to be the most expensive foundation I’ve ever bought…and here I thought the Sisley oil free was the most expensive already! But I will gladly buy this foundation again…I think I have finally found my HG foundations in this and MUFE Mat Velvet and Sisley oil free. The Cle de Peau is a great consistency, thick enough to cover pores, yet doesnt feel too cakey. I am an NC30 and O10 suits me well, as I tend to oxidise my foundations easily as I am very oily. I have never bought a cream foundation before as I associate those for dry skin, but nope this cream actually does not have any oily texture at all, it is quite thick and pasty when put on, but yet blends very well. I am using the tube version, have never tried the one in a small box. I think oily skins should consider this! I put Shu mousse make up base and works fine.
**Update 5/12/12 – I have just gone around running errands today in humid and hot Singapore where I live in for 2 hours and met up with a friend afterwards and she commented that my foundation looked fab and illuminating yet matte and wanted to know where I got it! I am very happy with the foundation indeed 🙂 FYI I set it with Paul and Joe loose powder with Nars Nico as highlighter…I think the trick is not to use too much but to build it up gradually…a little goes a long way!

Loooove Cle de Peau Teint Naturel Satine / Silky Cream Foundation
I have it in 030 and 020.
It’s a full coverage foundation and just a little goes a long way. Sure, it is one of the most expensive foundations, if not the priciest, out there and can only be found in super high end shops like Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys and Saks, but since you only need a tiny amount to apply, the jar can last your years! I still have mine from a few years ago 🙂
They change the packaging to a round tube and added SPF 18 sunscreen and I got the B30 shade. To me, they’re equally excellent. Probably not the foundation you’re going to use during summer (I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for summer) but for 3 seasons, spring, fall and winter, this works well for me.
Again, just use a tiny dab and apply with foundation brush or fingers.
If u use too much, sure, the coverage wlill be way too much and it won’t look natural!

I purchased the Clé de Peau Beauté silky cream foundation in color I10 about a year ago. When originally purchased, the foundation came in a box with a screw-off top. No where on the packaging or the box does it mention any SPF coverage.
I have now scoured the internet looking for my Silky cream foundation, but can only find a CdP foundation that now comes in a TUBE. And, this new foundation seems to include SPF 23. Did CdP change the formula of their Silky Cream Foundation?
Have they discontinued their original formula?
Please, anyone with any information…if you know the ingredient list of the new CdP Silky foundation…it would be a great help.
I do not know what I will do if my favorite foundation of all time has been discontinued.

LOVE. Tried this on a whim at Whole Foods & I’m amazed w/it actually. Covers red really well & even filled in this one vertical wrinkle of mine by my mouth that drives me crazy. I’ve been so tired of my mineral powder lately and yet not sure if I wanted to go back to the feel of liquid m/u on my skin. This is the perfect solution-some hydration, no powder to accentuate that nasty wrinkle and a beautiful, healthy glow-not the bismuth glow/shimmer that I’m starting to despise. I’m not really into their skincare but am loving the makeup from Mychelle.

The foundation stick in Porcelain is a great neutral color. It’s easy to apply and has soothing ingredients. As the day went on it started to feel greasy and uncomfortable on my skin. Coverage inadequate for summer redness.

This is fabulous! I’ve tried all brands from Armani to Maybelline to Chantecaille. The beauty of this is that its completely natural with moisturizing ingredients and pure goodness for my dry/combo/sensitive skin prone to breakouts and rosacea. No problems with this. Gives a natural finish – not too matte, not too dewy – just fresh and glowing! I’ve even slept in it, bc the ingredients are soooo fab for your skin! I apply directly above my moisturizer (Ivory color) straight from the stick. One sweep over each cheek, forehead, nose and chin and blend away with my fingertips. Sinks right in, seems to fill in the poors to give an airbrushed look. I went back to whole foods the next day and purchased another stick to stock up. Basically, this is good for your skin makeup without the makeup look. Cant say enough! My skin looks better and better the more I use it! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I am on a never ending search for a foundation which covers my very dry cheeks and oily t zone without sliding off or looking cakey. I think I may have found it. It is beautifully packaged and the jar feels wonderful. It should for £60.00! You only need a small amount of product which the makeup artist told me to apply with my fingers and then to pat with the makeup sponge (which comes with it) to smooth. It gives a no makeup dewy but flawless finish, the lady told me to layer to hide dark circles which I still am unsure about but I know that real life isn’t as perfect as an airbrushed picture! It lasts almost all day I only need to touch up slightly across the bridge of my nose. I will update in a few weeks if I am still in love!

My mom recently bought this cream foundation (Shade 20, 30g) for a staggering 10,500 JPY (approx. US$90?) but she swears it is one of the best foundations she’s ever used so I really had to try it. It is a mousse like foundation with a very light, natural, smooth finish.
It feels more like a tinted moisturizer with an SPF17, yet it covers well, though a concealer will be needed for any visible blemishes. It brightens the skin tone considerably and leaves a satin finish. It is too oily for my skin in summer, so I’m not sure if it’s the right foundation for me. It is in fact very similar to the discontinued Stephane Marais. It offers less coverage than CdP but feels more hydrating as CdP can be drying. It offers more coverage compared to Chantecaille Future Skin, another hydrating, moisturizing cream foundation.
About the gorgeous minimalist, but somewhat excessive packaging – it is contained within a hefty glass jar with a shiny black lid, it comes with a spatula and sponge beautifully packed with its own black carry case. The entire package is substantially heavy. The Suqqu line is beautifully, immaculately minimalist but maximalist in price – SAs even put on gloves when they show the products to the customers!
This would be a great foundation for dry skin but I’d seriously balk at the ridiculous price – it isn’t worth this much for what it does, although it is a superior product in the market, better than CdP or Chantecaille.
I would theoretically buy this again if I have theoretically abundant cash, haha…

Suqqu is a Japanese brand of make-up and skincare designed for ‘mature skin.’ At present it is only available outside Asia at the London branch of Selfridge’s. A make-up artist introduced me to the cream foundation, telling me that it was the best product she had ever used. It comes in a heavy glass pot, with a small spatula and a sponge. The texture is astounding. It simply glides on and gives a finish that ensures both maximum coverage but feels very light and sheer on the skin. The price is simply beyond belief: £60 for a small pot, but they are very generous with samples and there is some sort of loyalty card system.
The only reason for giving it an overall rating of 4 instead of 5 is the eye-watering price.
If you are in your fifties, have some disposable income and want a foundation for special occasions, as well as an everyday one from another brand, I can’t recommend this highly enough.
I will buy this again, but will use it sparingly. It’s the Creme de la Mer of foundations.
