I love this, it tones my hair perfectly but it also dries it out like a b**ch. my hair is seriously over processed at the min though. I use this only once or twice a month now and only for a couple of minutes otherwise it goes silver. I love the smell of this too, its super strong like old perfume’s. I prefer this now to the Fanola no yellow because it tones better as its a bit less pigmented and doesn’t turn silver/grey as soon as I put it on.

Love the shampoo, love love love the conditioner even more, and I even LOVE the scent! I love old lady-ish scents so this is a win for me. Everyone already said what needs to be said about this, but here are my 2 ways of using it: (1) paint thickly onto dry hair, like manic panic, leave on long time, rinse. Your hair will turn slightly purple if it’s light enough. Virgin snow ain’t got nothin on this and it’s so much cheaper. (2) I know this sounds weird, use it as a leave-in. Damp or dry hair, rub a teensy bit between hands and work it in. INSTANT toning! Soooooo much better than roux!!!

If you’re a bleached blonde, this is an absolute must have. However, let me clarify… I don’t use this as a conditioner, it is more of a multipurpose toner of sorts. I first tried using the shampoo from the Shimmer Lights line, and hated it.. its harsh and drying.. both of which are terrible for bleached hair. The conditioner however is another story…. I love using this to tone my hair immediately after bleaching (i don’t like double processing, so I use this to tone, instead of using toners with developer). I also use this weekly to brighten up my hair and remove any brassiness… but for this I prefer to apply on DRY hair, prior to shampooing.. I find that it’s easier to control where it’s being applied this way… with bowl and brush just as you would with bleach/color…. apply, comb through, leave it in for a few minutes…. then rinse, shampoo, condition. If your hair is porous, it may end up with a slight violet tint.. if that happens don’t panic, just shampoo one more time =) I also add a teaspoon of this into my DIY leave-in conditioner (8oz warm water + 1 tbsp conditioner + tsp shimmer lights conditioner)… helps keep my blonde hair bright in between washings. Overall I think its a great product, very versatile and excellent value… not so much as a conditioner, but definitely a great multipurpose toning tool for bleached blondes.

I can’t stress how much I hate this terrible smelling, overpriced garbage product. I also don’t like the shampoo… but this conditioner is the worst. Not only is it not very conditioning (definitely not conditioning enough for how drying the shampoo is), but it stained my hair blue EVERY TIME I tried using it. Ugh. I would shampoo and then put the conditioner in for about 3 minutes and rinse it thoroughly out. And then I’d dry off and look in the mirror and see giant chunks of my hair stained blue and i’d have to re-shampoo my hair in an effort to get the color off. And this is so expensive too!

I can’t believe this product has a single negative review. “This is too drying for a conditioner” Um…. you do realize that trying to alter the color of your hair is damaging (aka “drying”), right??? If you don’t want to dry out your hair, don’t put color altering products such as this one in it!!!! Or…. just use a little common sense!!! Ok, end rant.
On to the review. This product is incredible! In fact, this is the only at home toner I’ve ever used because it is incredible. Honestly, I do not find this product that drying, especially in comparision to having your hair toned at a salon. I always use a “regular” conditioner after using this and have never had an issue. Common sense people….jeez.

This product does what it says for color but I don’t follow the instructions on the bottle. It is not conditioning and doesn’t work well as a conditioner on its own. I have thick, wavy/curl hair, and I either use this product as a cowash and then follow with a thicker conditioner, or I use it as a leave in. It makes a good leave-in mixed with a curl cream because obviously that helps tone down brassiness even more!

If you don’t want to look like Goldilocks straight from da hood, but instead of have beautiful, ashy Ariana Grande hair, you’ll love this product! Yay!
Before I learned how to properly use this thing, I would have rated it 2 stars. The directions don’t give advice for girls who want to drastically change brassy hair. I used to use it as a conditioner while it was wet after shampooing, leaving it for 5 minutes or so. Very minimal results were seen. BUT, in an attempt to tone my newly-bleached ombre, I changed things up and my hair is a pretty ash color! (Pretty ass color.. hehe.) **I would highly recommend this for those who are reluctant to damage their hair more by toning and using dyes.**
MY METHOD: I brush out whatever hair I’m going to tone. APPLY ON DRY HAIR. Your hair will absorb the conditioner more. It seems like a lot of gals had a problem with this being a non-conditioning conditioner and scent, though I don’t have issues with either. It smells like strong baby powder. I don’t mind smelling like a fresh baby butt. Anywhoo, I saturate my hair and make sure each brassy strand is colored in purple gunk. You have to put enough to think that your hair is going to turn out lilac. I throw it in a bun and leave it for 25 minutes, though I want to test the length of time I leave it in. Everyone’s hair is different so wash a strand every so often to double check.
When I washed it out, it was a tremendous difference. My hair was quite noticeably less orange and became a pretty, ashy color. I’d probably just need one more 20-minute sit with this on my hair and all the brass will be out.
ALL IN ALL, this is a lovely, useful product if you use it like a toner instead of a conditioner despite the misleading name/instructions.

Ugh. This conditioner does not condition at all. It tones well but it leaves my hair brittle and dry. I have to mix this with a regular conditioner if I want to use it at all. I think I’ll spend the extra money and get a more high-end depositing conditioner.

As someone with bleached hair trying to achieve a silver colour, this product is my new favourite. Because it is more blue-based than other toning products I’ve tried (most are more violet-based) it is perfect for achieving a silver/grey colour! However, I leave it on for a lot longer than recommended and treat it more like a dye than a conditioner, so I think if you were trying to tone to white or even just a more ashy blonde colour this product would still work great! It’s so hard to find a pigmented toning conditioner as most are very light purple and do almost nothing for my persistently brassy hair, and while shampoos are more pigmented, they are almost always intolerably drying! When I first tried it, I was off-put by the smell as most people are, and I didn’t like the consistency–it felt like sunscreen!! However, when I actually tried it I found it wasn’t drying or residue-y at all, and for its toning capabilities, I’m willing to overlook the smell. It tones my hair better than any Wella toner I’ve tried!

I bought this to help tone my bleached hair. Since so many people commented about the shampoo drying their hair, I decided to buy the conditioner.
I did not feel it was a good conditioner and the smell is absolutely horrible.
Why, why , why hy put so much perfume in shampoo or conditioner ?
My scalp can’t stand this product. I have used it twice and my scalp has been itching badly. I will not use the rest of the bottle.
