This conditioner was ok. It felt a little weak going on but my hair did feel decently smooth after blowdrying. I don’t think this does anything for fading. I will say my hair is usually full of tangles and with this product it brushed out easily.

I bought this on a whim because it was on sale for $2 (as was the shampoo) at Wal Mart. I actually think that this product has prolonged the time between dyes and keeps my colour from fading. I use every other day in the shower together with the shampoo.

However….
When I last went to have my hair highlighted two months ago my hairdresser commented how dry my hair was. She asked did I by any chance use Pantene? I said yes and she nodded and said that explained. My hairdresser mentioned that Pantene does not actually treat the hair but instead coats it with a plastic-like coating, which gives the Pantene shine that the consumer is looking for. She then compared my hair to the condition of another customer sitting next to me. I could see how fine and dry my hair had become, although it did at least shine.
Since the above mentioned hairdressers appointment I have mainly used my Kerastase conditioner to try and improve the condition of my hair. However over the past week I have reinstated my bottle of Pantene conditioner again as well and my hair is looking shiny but I know I must not use it too much!

Wow — I’ve used Pantene for years n’ years, and had nothing but amazing results. However, my hair is and always has been VERY thick, both in volume and in circumference of each lil’ strand (even more so now that it’s getting grey), and it’s strong like bull, so maybe I’m just an oddball… but nothing else from any salon, pharmacy, beauty supply, grocery store, backyard still, etc. works nearly as well for me. This stuff gives me gloss, manageability, and my hairstylist never ceases to be amazed at how my hair survives all the tortures I periodically put it through when I get a “wild hair” someplace other than my head.
Panthenol really is a good thing. It’s the only thing science says penetrates the follicle and actually helps your hair (and skin — it’s good in lotions, too). Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme may smell good in the bottle, but they only really have a health benefit for the INSIDE of you — not hair. Hair is by definition already dead. I think of Pantene as my lovely embalming fluid. 🙂

Pantene = 100% pure evil! Hair product ingredients are just like food ingredients. The ingredients are listed in order of content. If alcohol is listed in the first three ingredients it means there is a lot in there – which is the worst thing for dry/color treated hair. The reason why conditioners have alcohol it them are to open the hair follicle to let the other ingredients in (protein, oils, silicones or vitamins). Unfortunately most conditioner has some form of alcohol listed as the second or third ingredient. BUT – Pantene is the WORST. It contains more silicones and unnatural oils opposed to natural proteins or vitamins, and high alcohol content. So it opens your cuticle up to absorb all that crap! This is why so many people love Pantene at first, then a couple months down the line end up with split ands and deposits on there hair. Don’t let the name “Pro V” or hyped up commercials fool you! Use ANYTHING but these products (unless you have extremely oily hair and intentionally want to screw your hair up!) You can usually buy Joico or KMS products, which have a much much lower alcohol content, and healthier natural oils and ingredients at Rite Aid or CVS for just a few bucks more, and believe me… it’s money well spent!

This conditioner is an average product. The only reason I’ll buy it again is because I need to be able to comb through my hair and IT is cheap. I’d rather find something better though.
