Former HG, pretty sure they reformulated this. Used to be (circa 2010) the only thing that made my bleached mess of hair into something presentable. They overhauled the (admittedly low rent/old-fashioned) scent and packaging but seem to have also changed the formula into something much milder and not particularly effective. Used to be the perfect thing for keeping very damaged hair at the proper pH, protein and moisture levels while still being appropriate for daily use. I haven’t found a replacement. Aphogee and Joico are okay but easier to overdo and they aren’t nearly as magical as the old formula Porosity Control.

This conditioner is so thin! I was pleasantly surprised at how well it detangled my long tangle-prone hair! I truely believe this conditioner controls porosity by closing your hair cuticles. When I rinsed this out, my hair was sleeker, shinier, and smoother- all tell-tale signs of sealed hair.
The smell of this conditioner isn’t the greatest, but it doesn’t last. And also, make sure you rinse your hands after using it because it irritated my palms but NOT my scalp.
This definitely isn’t a daily conditioner, as it would loose its effectiveness after your porosity has been completely corrected BUT this would make a great weekly conditioner and works well in conjunction with other conditioners (whether you use them before, after, or both).

There is a new anti-age line that features the porosity control conditioner. I’m not sure if it has been reformulated. It has a thinner consistency and I had to use quite a bit to coat my hair. You leave it in for less than a minute after shampooing , then you rinse it out. It has a better scent than the original and it leaves my hair shiny and soft. I thought it had great slip and my hair was less frizzy after it dried. I definitely see an improvement in my hair texture since I colored my hair brown a few days ago. This will be a part if my regimen as much as possible. I get less shedding whenever I used it.

I think this is the same formula I have called repair 233.I have both conditioner and shampoo and let me tell you,its changed my life.My hair is an overprocessed bleached color disaster dyed black mess with fringes from it breaking. This stuff saved my hair’s life.I found it at the 99 cent store and was like wtf give it a try. Then googled it only to find its a very high end brand and a great formula,IE $20 A BOTTLE OR MORE at any beauty supply store.I rush to every 99 cent store in my county to buy everything left on the shelves.I think its being discontinued ::dies:: at least I have enough for a few years now,hee hee.My hair is wavy and very coarse and dry…well… not anymore…thanks to this and Loreal Natures Therapy and La Bellas Curl setting lotion…also at 99 cent stores!

Spent hundreds of pounds trying to fix the moisture loss in my hair after using too much protein on it but my hair never seemed to get any less dry.
I saw a girl recommend this product on YouTube, bought it, and it’s totally changed my hair. It makes my hair feel immediately sleeker upon application, then you rinse out then apply your conditioner after. Now the effects of all the moisturizing hair products I’d been using for months with no results actually show, and my hair is getting better every time I wash it.
I got the old formula btw, with the orange block at the top, not the pink swirl down the side (new formula)

I purchased this product because of the positive reviews in regards to damage repairing hair care. I fried my honey blond hair with John Frieda go blonder spray a few months ago. I used this and a protein treatment to attempt to reconstruct my broken, frizzy, cotton candy hair and saw great success. I have continued to use this and my hair is nice, soft shiny and strong despite continuously re bleaching my hair. The reason I am sure this product works so well is that last night I forgot to use it and today my hair feels dry and is back to the frizzy mess I had before discovering porosity control. I will continue to use this conditioner in conjunction with my everyday conditioner in an effort to maintain healthy hair. This product is amazing. Highly recommended to anyone who has bleached hair or streaks looking for a quick fix that can be archived every wash.

Update: 2019 still using
October 2014 – formula has changed. I have not tried the new formula but the general opinion on the HB is not good. My review is for the original or older formula.
UPDATE: Repurchased. Sally’s has Roux products on for buy one/get one free for October 2012.
Smooths down the cuticle on my naturally dry wavy (sometimes frizzy) hair. I was using Wella Regenal before it got discontinued.
I CO often. After cleansing, I apply a moisturizing conditioner or light conditioning rinse. I rinse and then apply the Roux product next. It only needs to be left on 30 seconds. This helps seals the moisture in and have the cuticle lay flat. I noticed a difference from one use. My hair has more shine when I use this and feels healthy. Hair is highlighted with bleach and past shoulders.

Where to begin…I have bra strap length heavily highlighted blonde hair. It is very dry brittle, I have to use a lot of serums, conditioners ($$$) etc to maintain a healthy “look” to my hair. I am getting sick of silicones in everything and think its making my hair drier. I use coconut oil, neem oil as leave in treatments from time to time, however it doesn’t feel like my hair really drinks up the moisture.
Along came this product, I was reading reviews on Sally’s and took the plunge, I have to say after one use I can really tell a difference in my hairs texture, I really think this is what it needed. There is no silicone in this either bonus. My ends feel more moisturized and the lengths of my hair feel more “slippy”. Mind you i straighten my hair 4 times a week, I doubt I will ever regenerate it to its full glory, but I will continue to use this product. i can’t believe the amount of money i was spending on kerastase etc, and this does a better job than anything out there! So go ahead, try it, i doubt you will be dissapointed!! 🙂

my hair is colored, fine (but there’s a ton of it which is good bc i shed like crazy!), easily tangled, dry, curly/wavy, with fried ends from heat styling.
this is usually the only thing i use on my hair in the shower. occasionally i need to shampoo my roots/scalp first, or if my hair is feeling extra dry, i’ll use a deep conditioner instead. otherwise, it’s my one and only! <3
i apply this generously from my ends all the way up to the crown area, work it in, and let it sit while i shave my legs, etc then i rinse it out at the end of my shower.
it's lightweight, and detangles, moisturizes, and strengthens my hair without weighing it down. it also seems to minimize my shedding.

I used the sample pack from the bss because it was my first time using it. The reason I bought it was to balance the moisture in my hair after a protein treatment turned my hair hard!!! Anyway, after I let it sit in my hair for 30 min I washed it out and my hair was back to normal. Thank God because my hair was shedding like crazy after the protein treatment. You should buy this if you need more moisture in your hair immediately
