I believe this conditioner has been discontinued and replaced with Strength Cure. However, I’m writing this review anyway because it’s still available on Amazon and other sites and I want people to know just how awesome this formula really is. My hair is heavily highlighted and I also have permanent color and I heat style several times a week. So my hair is not only weak but is also quite dry. This formula has a considerable amount of protein for strength but also is very hydrating and leaves my hair strong and well nourished and soft. However, it also leaves my hair light and bouncy with tons of body and shine. It’s the perfect formula for dry damaged hair. I noticed a difference the first few times I used it. After two weeks my hair was no longer dry and I no longer had any breakage. It also smells amazing. Pureology is sulfate free and is specifically for color treated hair and this formula is really good for weak hair that’s been abused. However, I do also like Strength Cure and fail to see the difference between the two, other than the fragrance. They both work exactly the same way. I was able to find Essential Repair on clearance at Walgreens for less than $10 so I stocked up and will continue to use Strength Cure because it’s as good as Essential Repair. My hair feels and looks healthy and strong and I have these Pureology formulas to thank for that. I’ve never used anything better. The Essential Repair conditioner is really thick and rich and it doesn’t take much to do the job. I squeeze almost all the water out of my hair with a micro fiber towel. This keeps the conditioner from becoming diluted by the water and it works much better this way. I’ve noticed a big difference doing this. It takes much less conditioner and it penetrates much better without so much water in the way. You can get these towels in any auto parts store or in the kitchen department for about $1 apiece. This trick has literally saved my hair. If you want a great conditioner for color treated, dry, damaged hair, either Essential Repair or Strength Cure are good options. I highly recommend either one.

Expensive, but a good conditioner. I got this at the salon by the suggestion of my hairdresser. The smell is off-putting but it goes away as the day goes on. I normally wouldn’t spend over $20 on conditioner, but this does the job. I use it after the shampoo in the same line, and leave it on for about 2-3 minutes before rinsing.
I wish the bottles for the conditioner would be different than the shampoo besides the label just put on 180 degrees (upsides down). I have to wear glasses and I’ve often grabbed the conditioner in the shower instead of the shampoo because the bottle looks the same and says ‘après-shampoo’ and then ‘conditioner’ and I just read ‘shampoo’ quickly. Other than that minor detail, great conditioner.

I went from violet-red to chocolate brown after noticing that my hair was becoming more damaged, i.e. more breakage and fallout. I switched from the Hydrate range to Essential Repair to give my hair a little more TLC. The conditioner is amazing! It has a nice floral/herbal scent and is very rich and creamy. I only need about a 20c dollop for my whole head and I have very long hair. I’ve nearly finished my first bottle (I have a second spare) and my hair has significantly improved. It feels so much stronger, smoother and shinier. When I went for a photo session, the makeup artist complimented my hair – she said it was in crazy good condition! I prefer the Essential Repair conditioner over the Hydrate conditioner too because my hair feels so comfortable after a shower – not like it’s been dipped in toothpaste. Definitely a keeper!

There is no way I would even contemplate spending 15.00GBP on a conditioner, so it’s testament to how good this stuff is that since finishing the first bottle, I’ve since gone out and got another one (and the shampoo too).
This is everything a conditioner should be – lightweight, hydrating, lightly fragranced and conditioning without weighing your hair down. I don’t have coloured hair and never have had, but I genuinely don’t think it matters when it comes to using this.
If you’re looking for a really good conditioner that doesn’t contain sulphates, has plant extracts, is 100% vegan, smells delicious and lasts AGES I would recommend giving this a try. It might seem expensive, but you need a really small amount to make a difference, meaning this latest me well over 2 months when using it pretty much every day.

I love this conditioner. When I ran out of the liter I actually turned the bottle upside down and drained the remaining ounce or so into a travel bottle to get a few more days use out of it instead of resorting to one of my many back ups. I have never once done that with a conditioner before. This conditioner repairs damaged hair WEIGHTLESSLY. Infused with natural botanicals, herbs, biotin, and soy proteins, it provided the strength and moisture my over processed hair was craving. My hair has never grown this quickly in my life.

I am head over split ends in LOVE with this luxurious conditioner. It has the most heavenly smell on earth, herbally and just lovely….and it really, truly works. It makes my super processed hair feel like silk, and shine like no other conditioner can. This has replaced the Hydrating Conditioner from this line as my HG.

I have been in love with pureology ever since i first started having my hair bleached platinum blonde (for YEARS now!) & i am in LOVE with the essential repair mask. It makes my hair feel like SILK.. not only do i always get compliments on my hair but that it smells so good too! It smells like vanilla and roses to me. It’s by far the best product i would ever recommend to anyone with bleached, dry, over processed hair. This along with the pureology nanoworks shampoo and conditioner is like a miracle treatment for us blondies! (: i highly recommend the essential repair mask though.

I went to a new salon to have my hair colored after moving. My new hair dresser recommended this shampoo and conditioner my blonde hair. I tried it – and at first, loved it! My hair felt strong, shiny, and styled easily. After several months and I have now switched back to my old hair dresser (she does a much better blonde) who noticed my hair was severely damaged. She had been doing my hair for several years prior, and knew it well. She asked if I was having troubles with my thyroid (I am not) or had switched to a shampoo with protein. Right then I googled the ingredients of this and read it in fact has several proteins. She continued to tell me that some people with fine hair or color treated hair can be very sensitive to proteins which adversely damage the hair, especially if used every day. If anyone is having problems with this shampoo – please switch. I have since gone back to the Kiehl’s Sunflower Shampoo & Conditioner for color treated hair (protein free!) and things are starting to get much better!

I have very bleached, blonde hair that is in need of repair. I bought this today at Chatters (a Canadian retail chain in Western Canada) for 25% off at the advice of my favourite sales clerk at the store. I must admit that I really like this product; it left my hair very soft, and easy to comb (which is usually a problem for my hair). I would recommend this conditioner (and shampoo) for anyone that has dry, damaged hair that needs some TLC.

I really like this one, it makes my hair soft and shiny without weighing it down or leaving it feeling slick in the shower. Smells nice too 🙂
