This is one hell of a good low-poo. After trying several ‘sulfate-free’ shampoo options, I was disappointed that they all contained several different surfactants, that while not being sulfates were still just as stripping. I was about to try Deva Curl when I stumbled on Curl Junkie Daily Fix and I love it.
To me it’s absolutely a low-poo- with enough water added, it makes a creamy foam and really cleanses the scalp. Water definitely needs to be added to this to get a good cleanse. It really doesn’t behave like a conditioner, I think most people with dry hair would still need to follow up with some sort of rinse off or leave in conditioner. I find if I look at it as a low-poo, it’s perfect. Not the same as washing with just Sauve or VO5 conditioner, but not the same as washing with traditional shampoos or even sulfate free shampoos.
My hair is DRY. Not damaged, not color treated or heat styled, just as dry as straw most of the time, it has been my whole life no matter hard or soft water, clarification, chelation, I’ve tried it all. My leave in is lots of straight jojoba oil, and it doesn’t leave my hair greasy, if that tells you anything about how dry my damn hair is. I need a cleansing product that removes my leave ins and cleans my scalp but doesn’t leave my hair depleted of every last drop of moisture. This is it. I love it. I love the light minty smell, the consistency, performance. It’s just a win for my super dry hair. I only wash 2-3 times a week, and this is what I continue to reach for despite having many shampoos and conditioners in my cabinet.
I still need to follow up with a little bit of regular conditioner in the shower that I don’t rinse completely out, and I still need a leave in, but I find myself using less of both since I began with this product.

I’ve been using this as part of the curly-girl method for more than 6 months. I have 3A/3B hair that’s dyed, dry, and porous. This doesn’t strip my hair, but makes it soft and clean, and reasonably detangled. I do follow with a leave-in, CJ Smooth Assurance. It has a very mild smell that dissipates quickly and I appreciate that it’s not animal-tested. Leaves my hair very manageable and reduces frizz in combo with plopping/plunking with a microfibre towel. I took one packaging lippie off because a pump would be nice, but it’s far from a deal-breaker. Will definitely repurchase, this is my HG.

Was disappointed that this didn’t work better, but I think that what I’ve learned about curly hair is that it is more particular than straight hair – the way the it is dry and wavy works uniquely. So what others find works well, works only OK for me because I have big curls and coarse hair, very dry. So this did not keep my hair moist enough, but it didn’t dry it either, hence 3 lippies.

Great cleansing conditioner that leaves my hair glossy and clean. It has a sweet, minty scent and when you add a bit of water while scrubbing with your fingertips, it suds. It isn’t heavy or greasy feeling and it is concentrated as others have noted. I don’t really need to follow with a conditioner which saves me time. Would repurchase

This is the best “cleansing conditioner” I’ve tried (though I’ve only tried a couple). It really does what it says. I’m quite sceptical because my scalp gets greasy easily, but this does clean very gently. At first it didn’t work and I was disappointed, and then I realised two things: firstly, you need to use a lot of product. For me, a little does not go a long way! And secondly, once you wet your hair and rub this in your scalp, you then need to add more water and keep rubbing (gently)… That’s when it starts emulsifying and “lathering” (though it isn’t really lather). What I do is I keep massaging my scalp even when I rinse. Result: clean hair, not stripped of moisture. Because I have to use a lot of product, this would be way too expensive to use as my main cleansing agent and that is the only reason I won’t buy it again. (My fine hair does quite well with gentle sulphate shampoo, so this is not a “must” exactly, more a luxury.)

I’ve used the curl junkie daily fix for four years and it is an effective and versatile product. I first began using this when my hair was very dry (wasn’t using the right product combos) and now that my hair is balanced in moisture, this still works very well.
The color is pearly white, the consistency is creamy and the smell is like a sweet coconut-mint; similar to the curl junkie gardenia-coconut treatment. It is effective at removing buildup and keeps my scalp clean longer than other conditioning cleansers I have tried. My hair also retains moisture better and is softer to the touch.
The cleanser is thick so my application method involves diluting it with warm water in an applicator bottle and shaking it up to create lather. I then apply it directly to my scalp, work it into my hair, and apply more cleanser from the bottle as needed. This creates better lather for me, saves time and product.
When my hair lacked moisture, I would use this as a cleanser, then condition afterwards. Once my hair got moisture balanced, I was able to use it as an all-in-one cleanser/deep conditioner then go straight to my leave-in and styling; no need for a conditioner. These days I alternate it with a shampoo (about once a week) to get out heavier products like stylers + keep my hair balanced with moisture/protein.
So over all this is a great supplement to your routine if you want to retain moisture. If your hair tends to be dry, use it in conduction with a good conditioner and if you have oilier hair or use heavy leave-ins/stylers, this will be perfect alone or with a gentle shampoo in rotation.

I think of this more as a low poo. The best of both worlds. It is strong enough to remove most product and mineral buildup, yet gentle enough to keep hair soft and moisturized. This does have a chelating ingredient in it and I can feel its effects.
This really is a unique and wonderful product. Hair feels clean, conditioned and happy.
I use this like a “shampoo” and use a rinse out or leave in conditioner afterwards.
I cowash but find it isn’t always enough. This one is kept in rotation for once a week deeper cleaning. I wouldn’t want to be without it.

Love the Curl Junkie line of products. This cleansing conditioner is a must for my 3A highlighted curls. Cleans better than a co wash and not as harsh as a non-sulfate shampoo. A bit pricey but worth it.

I have coloured, 3a/3b very fine hair which is pretty flipping dry. I stopped using sulfate shampoos in my hair a few years ago and have been CO or using sulfate free shampoos since, which made a big difference, but my hair was still dry (and frizzy on wash days)
I started to use this product a couple of months ago, and it’s by far the best one I’ve used in my hair. It is expensive (I pay $28 for the 12oz bottle here in Canada), but you really don’t have to use very much, I would estimate I use a couple of tablespoons per use, just enough to dab onto my scalp while my hair is wet, then I add more water and it kind of foams up/increases in volume. I massage it into my hair and kind of let the excess run down the length of my hair (which is just below my shoulders), then rinse it out. It is super moisturizing and I think that once I get a trim, I could get by without having to condition my hair in the shower, and just use a leave in instead.
As I said, I’ve had the bottle a couple of months, wash my hair twice a week or so and I’d say I still have two thirds of the bottle left.
I’m a big fan and will definitely repurchase.

This product isn’t bad, but it isn’t great either. I will use what I purchased, but will not buy it again. The product wasn’t drying, but didn’t moisturize as much as I like. I also did NOT care for the smell – to me it smelled like I was putting minty toothpaste/gum in my hair (it wasn’t a strong peppermint smell) – just enough to annoy me. The bottle is also VERY awkward. It is bigger in diameter than most haircare bottles and the product is very thick – making it difficult to dispense in the shower.
