This is lightweight and doesn’t contain any agents that will make the hair feel slippery and super conditioned. So I’m reviewing this based on what it is, not for what I need, even though those are the same thing as of now. It makes my hair feel super soft but not weighed down at all, a bonus for my very thick, stick straight hair that can go limp very quickly. I accompany this with the Seanik Solid Shampoo bar and they keep my hair looking great for the 5-7 days I wait in between washing. I wouldn’t use this if you need a heavier, daily conditioner to combat frequent washing which can dry out the hair. I rub the conditioner bar on my scalp and back of the head and then rub it between my hands and use that instead of the actual bar for the length of my hair.

Without a doubt the worst Lush product I have ever used. Does absolutely nothing. Wasted $13.00 on a bar that will not lather even a tiny bit, and does nothing for my hair. Have been trying for a week to figure this out and I give up. Going in the trash. Undecided if I will give Lush another chance.

What the heck is with this product? I can’t believe there are some people out there that like it. I’m not sure I’m understanding this product. I was given a big chunk as a sample, and told to lather it in my hands and then apply. I tried this many times but no matter what I did, I could not work up a large enough lather in my hands to spread on my hair. It’s like there was no creaminess or meltability (not a word). Then I thought of just running the bar down my hair and that didn’t seem to do much either. Finally, I decided to just break off a chunk of the bar and smash it in my hands, which was really messy because the little piece broke into a bunch of little chunks and I’m pretty sure I lost half of them down the drain. This seemed to work the best, allowing me to Build up a creamy layer on my hands. I rub this on my hair and felt like it didn’t do anything. No moisturization or anything. This product may work if you could figure out how to use it, but it takes so much effort and mess it’s not worth it.

This product is not so good. I use it after a two in one and I have rather short hair (bob cut), so I don’t need a super conditioner but for my mother, who has longer hair this product is totally useless. Plus, it’s a bit expensive.
Pros: It is not tested on animals, and package free (the only reason why I would repurchase) + It lasts a very long time.

so this is one of those products that I hated in the beginning and I still feel that lush needs to ‘un’ solidify this I just couldn’t use this as a solid product, I ended up making sludge sort of a consistency out of it and used it and worked wonders, I absolutely love the way it makes my hair look and also the hair smell surprisingly amazing in an unusual way ! It’s light enough and I feel it’s good for oily hair as it doesn’t weigh your hair down even if used near the scalp, also waiting to try veganese

I think I have the new formula because it works amazingly with my hair. It really leaves my hair soft and voluminous and smells wonderful.

I have long, very thick hair. This product did not work for me, at all. I tried rubbing it in my hands long enough to get enough product – doesn’t happen. I tried rubbing it over my hair, doesn’t work. Doing a combination for several minutes to get a somewhat reasonable amount… doesn’t feel like I’m even using conditioner. Detangling effect zero.
Giving up on using it on my hair, I thought I’d try using it as a body conditioner. Same none-moisturizing effect there. Now it’s just lying in the bottom of my shower tray, wasting away.

After reading previous reviews I’m sure I have a newer formulation of this conditoner. It’s a cream-colored, oval bar that has “Hair Conditioner” molded onto it. In comparison to The Plumps, Big solid isn’t as moisturizing and it takes a bit more of it to detangle completely. This leaves my hair soft and incredibly lemon-lime, fresh-smelling. The best thing about it is the BODY it gives my hair. When I want to wear my hair curly, I use this and set it free. This is the best “wash and go” conditioner I’ve tried, and so little is needed to add bounce to my hair. If you’ve used an older formulation of this, you may just want to give it another try. This isn’t for adding a lot of moisture to hair. It’s truly a “bodifying” conditioner, and it really does work. This can be used as a co-wash, too.

This product is extremely hard to work with. It does not spread through your hair. Instead, it pastes itself and clumps to sections/strands of hair and will not spread. In other words, wherever your hand touches the product to your hair, that’s where it will stay until you rinse it out. You can’t rub it around (it won’t move). It is impossible to spread. It doesn’t smooth through your hair.
I tried to break off small amounts of the product into my hand and run it under warm water then rub it to heat it up, but even still, the product did not liquefy enough to be able to spread. What’s even worse, it was very difficult to rinse out of my hair, and my hair is thin! Even after I rinsed my hair for a long time, I still was finding pasted clumps of Big Solid in my hair, and they were big white pasty clumps (which would have been embarrassingly noticeable had I gone out in public like that).
I can’t even comment on whether or not its conditioning properties are good, because I just couldn’t work with it. What’s really weird is that this product will soften in your hands from the heat of your body, but it won’t soften enough to spread even when adding water. The look, texture and suppleness of Big Solid reminds me a lot of marzipan. The only positive comment I have is that the scent is wonderful.

First off, I totally understand the negative reviews for this product. It’s definitely more difficult to use in a way that will get good results, and I also think it only works well on very certain hair types.
Luckily, mine is one of those: baby-fine, thin, long wavy hair that is not color-treated and rarely heat-styled. My usual routine is to towel-dry, scrunch some homemade salt spray into my hair, and let it air-dry. BIG solid conditioner basically doubles as conditioner and salt spray in one. My hair dries in soft, shiny, volumized waves without any product. So, it’s great when I’m feeling lazy.
On days I’m going to be blow-drying or otherwise styling my hair, I use Veganese instead, because it makes my hair smoother and shinier (less volume, though). I pair these two conditioners with a small rotation of LUSH shampoo bars: Karma Komba, Jason and the Argan Oil, and Brazilliant (I think there isn’t actually much of a difference between these, I just like different smells).
To use the conditioner, I just pick the bar up, hold it under the hot water to soften it, then rub it vigorously between my hands until a good amount of the product is on them. Then I work it into my hair starting at the ends. It really isn’t all that difficult and I think people are just confused by the fact that it doesn’t feel like a traditional conditioner, with slip.
Another thing I’d mention is that I do an olive oil/avocado/egg mask on my hair every weekend, which makes a huge difference in softness, strength, and shine. If you’re not someone who regularly does hair masks and treatments, you might notice the salt in BIG drying out your hair. BIG should definitely be rotated with other conditioners, but that’s just normal to me–I always rotate hair products based on how I’m going to be styling my hair that day. BIG is my go-to air-drying conditioner, that’s for sure.
Honestly, this conditioner smells SO. FREAKING. AMAZING (seriously, like heaven) that I would try to find a way to make it work even if I didn’t like it on my hair. A shaving bar, a skin conditioner, anything. I think as a hair conditioner it only deserves three lippies, since it doesn’t work for the majority of hair types; but when it does work, it works very well. The smell is so out of this world amazing that I bumped it up another lippie.
