I love the concept of concealers with some sort of acne fighting ingredient in them to use on blemishes. This one has salicylic acid (1,8%), which I know from past experiences works well on my skin. It comes in a stick form, but a really thin and pen shaped one, which gives great precision in targeting any spots that needs to be covered. The formula is a little bit thick/hard, so I find it easier to “paint” over any blemishes before I go over with the foundation, as it melts onto the skin better then. That might be a good idea either way, since you want the salicylic acid directly on the spots and not layered on top of the foundation. I picked this up in the shade 21 Neutral, only because it wasn’t available in 20 Fair and any shade called (22) Almond usually won’t work with my skin tone. I do find Neutral a little bit too grey-ish and dark in colour though, so Fair probably would’ve been a better match for me.
As for how it’s been working out for me, I can’t say how much it’s actually helped reduce my blemishes. My reasoning is that even if it doesn’t actively reduce them, it’s probably less likely to worsen them due to the anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory formula. I do also appreciate that the formula is waterproof and won’t move when you go over it with your foundation. It’s almost a little bit waxy in texture, which helps it stay put. The twist-up pen is always a good idea, though remember that it’s a twist-up only, it’s not retractable. In other words, don’t twist up a huge amount of product and end up smushing it with the cap.
Like all of Isadora’s products it’s fragrance free which is obviously a plus for anyone with sensitive skin. Overall, I like this kind of concealer stick a lot more than the chubby, retractable ones that I find both unhygienic and prone to either melting off my face or looking cakey. If repurchased I’ll definitely go with Fair instead (I’m not sure what skin tone Neutral would fit perfectly, to be honest). But overall, I’m really happy with the product.
