I’ve been using this everyday for 2 years or so.
Pros:
– Good coverage.
– Nice finish.
– Decent amount of colors to match.
Cons:
– A little expensive (but lasts a long time so I can’t complain too much.)
– Will crease a little.
– Doesn’t play well with the mineral makeup I use.
I’ve been meaning to review this for a while. I switched over from the Dermablend Cover Creme because I was tired of the application. I use both for undereye circles exclusively (they are the bane of my existence.) The indulgence concealer is much easier to apply and does give better long term results in terms of creasing. I still find it creases a little near my tearduct, but I haven’t used anything that doesn’t.
I don’t put this on over primer or moisturizer. I honestly don’t think it was formulated to go over anything but bare skin. Dermablend is the serious-business brand of the makeup world used by people who have disfiguring scars, birthmarks, and other pigmentation issues. If any of their stuff needed a primer they’d tell you about it. That said I do go off script and use my mineral makeup powder over it. They don’t work well together because the powder is so dry, but since I’m married to my mineral powder I just deal. In terms of coverage, I’d say it gives ever so slightly less cover than the creme. It has a very natural finish, but I’m not sure how well it lasts without a setting powder.

This is the first concealer I tried in my hunt to cover the reddish/bluish areas under my eyes and I have to say, it is a very good concealor. It completely covered my discoloration, it did not settle into my fine lines, and it was very long wearing.
Unfortunately, however, everytime I used the Smooth Indulgence, I looked a bit ill. I picked a shade lighter than my skin tone, and my face would still appear washed out after applying this concealer. I ended up returning it to find one with more of a brightening effect. If I had only needed it to hide other small imperfections around my face other than under the eyes, I would not have considered returning it. It is a bit pricey for a concealer ($22 at Ulta for .3oz) but well worth it for the excellent coverage and quality.
After extensive try-outs of many products, including HE, I ended up with the Garnier Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller which doesn’t conceal as well as the Dermablend but I am much happier with the overall look from the brightening effect in the under-eye area.

A little bit about my skin:
– occasionally dry in the areas of concealer application
– pores prone to clogging depending on product used
– hyper-pigmented & hypo-pigmented in specific areas of my face
– VERY sensitive skin (i.e. rashes/itchiness) with certain products & chemicals
– cystic acne sufferer ranging from none to moderate with the blink of an eye =(
– body has issues naturally exfoliating dead skin cells making it very difficult to select and experiment with different products since I am already prone to clogging…hence, cysts
– certain SPF causes my cystic acne to return
Ok, on to my review of this product. I have never been one to use foundation or concealer all over my face because I hate the feeling of a mask or the chance I may transfer color if I just barely touch my face. I actually went to Ulta in hopes of purchasing the foundation, but I tried this instead because it looked like I would get a little better coverage for my uneven skin tone I mentioned above. I use this concealer on my cheeks and my chin using a small concealer brush AFTER my moisturizer and it blends nicely using the brush. The trick to getting even blending using this product is that your skin must be moisturized or this concealer will be tacky and somewhat gummy giving you an uneven texture and poor coverage. This little tube of concealer is highly pigmented and thick when coming out of the tube, however when used to cover my cheeks and chin, it spreads nicely and fluidly if you move quickly with a nice light feeling but moderate to full coverage. I have somewhat fair skin, cool undertones, and redness that are covered flawlessly using this concealer, & I HATE a matte finish because I don’t use foundation all over my face. If you don’t moisturize prior to using this product and use it like I do only in certain spots, there will be a terrible difference because it will dry matte. Since I do moisturize, my face has an all over dewy, healthy appearance even in the areas I have applied the product.
This concealer lasts most of the day and will even stay on if going swimming (yes, I tried it!), but of course it doesn’t look like perfection if you do go swimming and don’t touch up afterwards. I will say it can be a little more on the tan/orange side for us fair/cool toned girls, but for the summer I felt it worked with the little bit of golden enhanced skin tone from the summer sun =) As for the SPF in this product, I was skeptical about purchasing this item because my skin doesn’t respond well to SPF and my skin surely lets me know it!!! I will flare up with cysts under the skin with certain products containing SPF as well as little white heads on my chin. This product does a good job at staying on top of the skin rather than soaking in to it, which must be due to the silicone like properties in it, and it didn’t irritate my sensitive skin or exacerbate any underlying acne or cysts for me.
Overall, I think this product gives decent, natural coverage when applied correctly with lasting durability that requires a good cleansing to remove. I’d say two passes of product if you need more coverage is the most one should do because using any more than that just looks like too much product. In my opinion, a little dab of loose powder on a blemish should do the trick rather than slathering on another coat of this concealer. Just remember to moisturize first before working with this product and blend quickly. Good luck and always feel beautiful!

The thing I liked about this concealer I also disliked: the natural effect. At first, I loved how it blended into my skin without caking or any signals that said “look here, she’s covering something up!” But then again, it really didn’t conceal. I noticed I always had to follow this up with another layer of MUFE Full Cover if I wanted to banish redness & camouflage acne or scars. After trying this for over a month, it clearly wasn’t doing the job and became this annoying extra (unecessary) step in my routine. So out it went.
On the brightside, it never made me breakout or worsen current acne. It just didn’t do much of anything.

I love the color WHEAT and I have asian skin (yellow undertone). I purchased this foundation twice even though it’s $32-34, I would keep purchasing. The finish is not too matte, not too dewey but it does set. Some say it transfers but I think that depends on your skin type. It’s very blend able for my dry skin and covers up any blemishes, scars, etc. Some days I have to use concealer after but you sometimes I double it up and it works too! This is my HG foundation!! 🙂

This foundation is honestly one of the best one’s I’ve used. It’s hard for me a lot of times to find a good foundation, but this works amazingly well.

I have been a long time lurker on this site, but wanted to come forth specifically to show this product some love. I have hereditary dark circles. They are extreme, and I have to wear concealor or I will scare small children. I have tried every brand on the planet. Want me to name some? Covergirl, Maybelline, Dior, Clinique, Estée Lauder, L’oreal, Jane Iredale… the list goes on. This stuff runs circles around all those brands. If it is ever discontinued, I don’t know what I will do. It is expensive, but the tube lasts forever! It is so highly pigmented that you barely use any. And honestly, I would probably pay more for a product of this quality.

This concealer is INCREDIBLE!!! I’m thinking they must have changed their formula given all the bad reviews are really old. This gives you SO much coverage and completely covers dark circles. A little goes a VERY long way since it’s incredibly pigmented. I’ve tried just about every high end concealer out there, and this is one of my favorites. HIGHLY recommend!

Really love this concealer. I have some acne scarring and dark eye circles and hyper-pigmentation under my jaw and this works on all areas very nicely. It’s a great multipurpose concealer.
I have never found a concealer that actually covers the dark acne scars (or actual breakouts) without making them look worse but this product delivers. It doesn’t look dried out and built up yet it completely makes dark areas disappear. For under the eye it truly doesn’t settle into lines or look dry and caked on. It really blends well and is nearly invisible even if I want to go without foundation.
The only negative for me is the price.

I am 45 and have severe dark undereye circles. In the morning, they look like bruises. I have tried a lot of other concealers. The only other one that came CLOSE to working was Colortration (which had excellent coverage but I couldn’t find a colour match and it was quite thick and obvious). Then I bought some of this Dermablend off ebay, in a little tube. I couldn’t believe it. Even though it was a thin consistency, it totally covered, without caking and settling into lines. If it’s a really bad morning, I might use a second coat, but not often. It stays on well and really has made a huge difference to my appearance like nothing else ever has. I recently also tried the Dermablend Cover Creme foundation (which claims to be waterproof when used with a setting powder) and found that when I used this, it covered my dark circles also, so I didn’t need to use extra concealer. However, the Cover Creme is thicker than the Indulgence. Also, make sure you shake your tube with the Smooth Indulgence concealer as sometimes it separates and oily fluid will come out, which dilutes its effectiveness. The tube is small, but you don’t need much and mine has lasted AGES. I won’t bother buying any other type of concealer. This is it.
