I bought this when I was running low on my Wet n Wild CoverAll concealer stick. This one is around the same price, and in fact, I got it for about 50¢ after using a coupon. However, I wouldn’t want another one even if it were free.
I actually bought this to use as an eyebrow base. (I fill in my eyebrows with eyeshadow, and applying concealer first makes the color stand out more and stay on longer.) I have also tried it out as a concealer. I like that the color is yellow-based, whereas the Wet n Wild concealer stick is pink-based, but that is where the benefits stop. The NYC Cover Stick is absolutely useless for use under the eyes, since whether applied with a finger or directly from the stick, it will not layer enough to get decent coverage for my needs. When trying to blend the product, it seems to just wipe it away, due to the thin consistency despite being in stick form. It is equally useless for trying to cover blemishes.
When used on the eyebrows or eyelids as a base, it doesn’t help the eyeshadow adhere as well as the WnW concealer, and causes some pretty bad creasing in the eye creases after just a couple of hours of wear. It also tends to get messy in the eyebrows, an issue I didn’t really have before. I need to buy myself a new Wet n Wild concealer stick already, so I can throw this one away.

This is a gr8 multi purpose product. Can be used as a highlighter (I draw a /\ under my eyes & a strip down my nose, dot on chin), eyeshadow base (really makes them stick! Or looks good a la MAC Painterly PPot as a flawless eye apply pressed powder then ur winged liquid black eyeliner or a brown pencil such as MAC Photogravure/dupe for a brown pencil on top lashes. I do not rec’d putting liners or shadows on the bottom lash/water-line tread very carefully as this is emollient so it will make them almost 100% guaranteed pandas better chance if u wear this below ur eye to set w loose powder), can be used awesomely to clean up brows after filling in (use a concealers brush like elf has a good 1 for $2 swipe it against the bullet) or to clean up edges on vivid lip colors neaten them up or use as a lip primer (use a very light hand)

Awful concealer. It has a waxy texture and forget about blending. It settles into lines and is greasy as well. The coverage? Non existent. The only plus is the price and packaging. Avoid it.

Creamy, but not dry and patchy.
Cover a bit. (not dark acne scar)
Only lighter shades. (none for warm undertone people)

NYC Coverstick 781- Light. With Vit. E
Finding a base makeup for me is like trying on swimsuits –I hate it nothing works at any price! Consistancy and color is tough.
I want to look very natural but cover the redish T zone and dark under eye areas. I have an acne prone forehead and slight wrinkles skin so I use a lot of Gylocolic and AHA peeling products. I need something that doesn’t sit in the lines or break me out or overly show dry areas.
In the past I’ve used Stilla BB creme. Nice tan color and subtle coverage but very wet dewey consistancy. Too wet for a work look. And $25 🙁
This is my latest makeup. It’s $2!! I war paint it on my T zone and eye area and then blend with a stiple brush. Matches my fair freackled skin nicely. Yes- this works. Not too wet or dry. Buildable coverage. And a natural look with creamy Vit E that lasts. And I will mention one more time TWO DOLLARS!!!

This conceler had barely any coverage for me other people said it covered great because it’s thick but I found it covered nothing and looked very cakey. I just found that this conceler did nothing I would deffintly not recommend this to a friend

I have to say this isn’t the greatest concealer but for the price, I couldn’t pass it up but I had purchased it for the reason to do a natural highlighting effect on my face since most drugstore concealers are way too dark even for concealing on the face for me. So I was going to try to use this for highlighting or even primer.
~~~~~ PRICE & AVAILABILITY ~~~~~
NYC Cover Stick can be found in most drugstores like Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS as well as mass discount stores like Kmart, Target & Walmart. This is one of the cheapest concealers out there right now for under $2. I purchased mine for $1.99 at Walmart. Its so super cheap that I knew I’d find a reason to use it. I think its not always necessarily true that you get what you pay for but like I said, its not the best out there but I still have reasons I enjoy it.
~~~~ SHADE & FORMULA & PERFORMANCE ~~~~~
NYC Cover Stick in Light is one of the lightest shades I can find at drugstores. Now I have been seeing some companies bringing out paler shades but for quite some time I couldn’t find anything pale enough to highlight on my skin. I have purchased the correcting yellow shade and I do happen to really enjoy that one bc it does actually cancel out my extreme blue purple undereyes as long as you use it correctly. But read my separate review on that shade if you would like more on that. NYC claims that “No need to hide at home after a long night out – NYC New York Color Corrective Cover Sticks have you covered. The soft formula won’t pull or tug around your gentle eye area AND they blend well under foundation. Go from tired to triumphant for a steal! Use yellow to conceal dark under-eye circles and freckles. Use green to hide blemishes and red blotches.” I find the formula on this stick on the slight waxy side & it will require some work. I find this works best if you rub the stick onto your finger and rub the formula between ring fingers to allow product to warm up slightly then dab onto areas that you would like to conceal. I do find with thicker concealers that some work will be needed so I don’t hold that against this. The formula is thicker & a tiny bit waxy but w/ warming it up I find it applies alot easier and then with a good blending brush, this will sit well on top of skin. I have noticed that if you have any dry spots or blemishes that are drying, this will emphasize those areas. If I do have a blemish forming, I can use this on those to tame redness. I use the shade Light in areas like my checkbone, nose bridge, forehead and chin area. This can be worn under or over foundation w/out any issues of it taking away foundation. They do suggest online to place under foundation so it may make it work better but I can use it over. I do think this could work for under eyes if you do not have severe dryness or under eyes. I have both so I have to use a VERY THIN amount if I use this on the under eyes. I do use the shade Yellow in the innermost purple/blue area. This worn in a thin layer helps to even out blemishes or blotchy spots. It does have decent coverage but nothing like Hard Candy Glamoflauge which is a heavy duty concealer. This is a great concealer for all over touch ups and over forming blemishes. I have used this mixed with a thick cream & it works great under eyes since I have dry skin. For normal skin types, this will work just fine. I have to say though, as an eye primer, this is great!! This is similar (not exactly the same or as great so don’t roll your eyes bc im talking about basic priming needs) to a paint pot or a good thick eye primer. This helps to even out eye lids and cover veining or other problems I have on my super pale skin. The shade Light is a great neutral very pale tone. So even with my cool toned skin, this works just fine. It will work with most light to medium skin tones. Darker skin tones may have issues since its very very light. This as a concealer wears for over 6-7 hrs before I see any fading. I like that it has a natural finish. Its not super dewy or wet looking nor is it flat or overly matte. Natural finish & also includes Vitamin E so its not drying like some concealers. I do wear primer + foundation then always set my concealers with a transparent powder of some sort too. I do have normal to dry skin so performance will vary depending on your skin type & preparation. I have other concealers that I’ve paid alot more for & this lasts just as long as those. I have one in stick form for convenience as well as depotted one to mix with a cream or to make primer with. I do think this is a pretty decent concealer though. I esp like the shade Yellow more but do find Light is great for pale skin highlighting.
~~~~ PACKAGING ~~~~~
NYC Cover Stick comes in a standard hard plastic lipstick like tube that is super convenient and easy for on the go or travel. I rarely travel or take makeup for touch ups but this would be great for those who do. The stick is clear and see through w/ a lid that slides on/off like lipsticks. The sticker is silver with label/product name as well as ingredients/shade name. The shade name is located on a sticker on the bottom. You receive 2.2 gr or .08 oz which is a fair amount of product. The stick twist up/down very easily. No issues with it breaking or not working. Its so easy to use straight from tube or using fingers. Its not the best packaging and does look rather cheap but I don’t mind as long as it works and keeps the product intact. Its not heavy or bulky & easy to see what shade is inside, no guessing or surprises. You see what you are getting & easy to get all of the product. Pretty good.
Overall, this is a pretty great product esp for the price. If you are looking for a great multitasking affordable concealer, its worth a shot. I have found it works for me and I have repurchased. Next will be the green shade. I love light bc its actually Light! Try it out!
I have the light and it is too light. I have to put another concealer or foundation over it otherwise it looks white. I use the ‘light’ versions in most all product but this is too pale.
I find it not creamy but dry when applied even with having moisturized. I love that it is inexpensive and the packaging in a tube is great. But unfortunately it just didn’t perform the way I want a concealer to perform. I may use as an eyeshadow base.
First, this concealer gives a nice coverage, because it is thick. You can easily apply it with a brush though. Ot is long lasting, but it’s easy to spend it in a month if you use it quite a lot. I don’t know if it is for all skin types, but it got cakey under my eyes, knowing that I have a normal skin. And the stick broke at first use.
I like this concealer. It’s cheap, it covers whatever I need, and it is perfect for a highlighter. The packaging is okay, I prefer stick concealers over liquid concealers as well. I do not know if this is my HG concealer but overall I think it’s worth 4 lippies
