I wanted to cheer on Clove + Hallow, a little green beauty company based in Atlanta, headed by a rather sympathetic-looking young woman with a mission to produce top-quality clean cosmetics at an affordable price.
I’ve tried so many concealers that I can’t even count; their legions include NARS, Chanel, Elate, Shiseido, MAC, Maybelline, Revlon, Lancome, and Laura Mercier. Clove + Hallow’s offering (Conceal + Correct), however, didn’t cut the mustard for me. It’s the right level of viscosity (good); however, the texture leans towards grainy, almost like Milk of Magnesia (bad). Once on, it cakes (very bad). And now, the deal-breaker. Every shade in the line is pink-based, including my own (03). EXTREMELY pink-based. Like morgue-makeup. As an NC20/25 (light olive) individual, I therefore can’t get much use out of this.
The branding is sleek and attractive although the tube tends to leak and smear. I’m still scrubbing (pink) marks off my vanity.
