Oddly enough, I bought this when looking for the bar version; this one is in a pump bottle, puts out a foamy pouf (like some hand soaps). This is not specifically for just the face, it’s just a basic natural soap that features colloidal silver.
I have recently been suffering from blepharitis (an inflammation around the eyes, eyelashes) and it’s been pretty awful; I ended up with a bad rash under my right eye, which caused my eye to draw down and tears to leak out…well, you get it; it wasn’t pretty. Even though I don’t wear makeup more than once or so a week, it was pretty uncomfortable when I did. I ended up feeling like I had dry eye and spent a lot of money on eye drops and the like too.
I was trying a lot of different products and it was getting better, but not that fast. I read online that one of the most recommended home care things to do is to scrub (gently!) the lash line with baby shampoo…eeekkk! Since my eyes are normally very sensitive, as is my skin, this did not sound like a great idea. But after a few weeks, when the condition had improved only marginally, I was getting a bit desperate. (Oh, and I’ll mention sleeping with manuka honey slathered on my eyes…not fun! And didn’t do much–except burn. And the castor oil–talk about goopy and blurry and stinging…)
I’d also seen a lot of online comments about using colloidal silver in the eyes. And I found that one of the suggestions–to use a hot wet washcloth for 3-5 minutes as a compress twice a day–seemed to have the most positive effect–how simple! I noticed this soap sitting on the counter; it took me a couple of days to work up the nerve to try it…I really thought it would burn and make things worse!
But I finally gave it a whirl, and I’m really glad I did! Here’s how I do it: First, do the hot wet washcloth (clean, of course; you can use it AFTER to wash your face, but it has to be pristine for your eyes) for 3-5 minutes. Then, using a small piece of cloth (mine is cut up cloth from old pajamas), pump a bit of the soap into my palm, I close my left eye, and dip the cloth first into water (wring it out), then dab a bit of soap on the cloth, then gently scrub the base of the upper lashes for about 15 seconds. I then go over the upper lashes with the redipped (in water only) cloth (to prevent getting soap in the eye). I then open the eye and repeat under the eye, then repeat all steps on the other eye. Then I rinse well.
Oddly enough, it has NOT STUNG OR BURNED MY EYES IN ANY WAY!!! And my eyes continue to improve; I wore makeup for several hours today and it’s the first time in a few months that doing that didn’t cause a problem. It also did not burn or irritate the rash under my eye, which is also a big surprise. I’ve also begun using it on my face, and hasn’t caused any problems, including not being overly drying (though of course I moisturize after).
