This is a great cleanser at a fair price–about $15 for 13.5 fl oz of product. The foaming action is gentle and non-stripping; it’s capable of removing light makeup, though for best results I’d recommend using it as a morning cleanse or a second cleanse (unless you don’t wear makeup). In this, it is very comparable to my holy grail Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser (as well as the lovely but horribly overpriced Drunk Elephant Beste Jelly Cleanser). Its foam might be just a tad less cushion-y than the Cerave, but it is a more than acceptable substitute. I tried it because I received a large sample. I would not hesitate to buy a bottle if I couldn’t get my Cerave for any reason. Bonus points for the classic French pharmacy packaging!

This a hg cleanser for me. Every time I try something else I always go back to this. There are others I really like but at the same time this just works for me the best. I like the Foaming type. I love the way it really cleans. I feel like it gets everything off so well. I usually remove makeup with a wipe first but those never seem to truly be enough. I use this next with a Clairsonic. When done I know I’ve gotten everything off and have no worries about residue. I follow with skincare from there. The price is great as it’s huge for the $15. Lasts forever too. Only need a tiny amount smaller than a dime size works perfectly. For reference I have oily acne prone skin that is still haunting me even at 50. This has never caused a breakout. It helps to rid me of anything popping up.

Great cleanser! Cleans so nicely and the foaming it gives is comforting to the skin (weird right?), like a soft pillow. It feels luxurious!
Cleans off all makeup, dirt etc. I always come back to this after trying other cleansers. You get a huge amount so the higher price tag isn’t so bad because it lasts forever. Also, cvs always has good coupons to make this even more affordable.

LOVE IT!!! at first as with any cleanser you will get white heads because it is cleansing your skin and bringing out all those impurities I’ve been using it for over a few weeks now and my skin has not looked more alive in quite sometime and the one or 2 dots I get here and there clear so quickly 😍

Broke out my skin terribly.

When I was checking out of my dermatologists office there was a little bowl of small samples of this right on the desk. I grabbed a bottle, curious but wary. For years I had been using CeraVe Foaming facial cleanser at the recommendation of the aforementioned dermatologist. Trying this new cleanser felt amazing at first. I used this every other night for a little over a week. The first day or so my skin felt really soft, my natural oils weren’t stripped, and it just felt nice. Fast forward a few days; every morning after using this I would wake up with white heads in the most random spots. I knew it wasn’t hormonal because I was getting the spots on my forehead, nose, and cheek whereas my hormonal acne is always on my chin. This was the most acne I had ever had in years and this face wash was the culprit because nothing else in my routine changed. Once I stopped using this and switched back to CeraVe, everything settled down immediately. I would never recommend this to someone

After using the Effaclar cleanser from the same brand, i realized that it was drying out my face, so i needed something more gentle, but yet effective. I bought the Toleriane one, hoping for it to be great, and it was! This cleanser removes my makeup (non waterproof), my sunscreen and the dirt of my face without stripping my moisture barrier. As a girl with acne-prone and combination skin, living in a very hot city, i’m loving this and will repurchase (what ‘ll take a long time for me to do because the bottle is huge!).

I like it but it irritates my eyes. I’ll use it on my vagina since it’s fragrance free

Simply put, the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser is one of the best basic facial washes on the market and beats a lot of the fancy high end stuff they sell at Sephora. I have repurchased this cleanser 4x and will probably continue to do so. I am a bit of a product junkie but when it comes to my skincare I like to keep things relatively simple yet effective. Once I started caring about my skin and actually paying attention to how it reacted to different products I began to go on the hunt for my perfect facial cleansers, moisturizers, toners, night creams etc. I’ve stopped using drugstore brands like Neutrogena, L’Oreal and Garnier because their newer products are gimmicky, overpriced and quite frankly suck. I used to think La Roche-Posay was some kind of clinical brand that was exclusive to European pharmacies but when they started carrying the line at my local Target I got super excited and was very keen to try their products. So far I have been impressed with nearly everything I have tried from them because they deliver consistently high quality formulas with no-fuss packaging at decent prices. This formula truly is purifying and leaves my skin very clean without the stripped sensation afterwards. It is also one of the few cleansers that seems to clear up existing pimples and keep breakouts at bay.
Side note: The La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar Dark Spot Brightening Foaming Cream Facial Cleanser with LHA is also an amazing cleanser. Check out that one if you are looking for a cleanser that contains topical exfoliation ingredients.

This has become my HG makeup removing wash! I love how it takes away all traces of makeup off my face while still being gentle on my skin and maintaining a good ph level unlike other cleansers that just make your skin feel tight or overly dry. Being in my early 30’s i feel like my skin has been shifting from oily to being more on the combination side but this cleanser never leaves me with those rough patches yet keeps the oily parts at bay while leaving my skin feeling super clean. I also like that unlike other washes who like to claim that they are also for “removing makeup on the eyes” this one actually does not sting them!! So unless you use waterproof mascara, you can use this to get it all off and not take the extra steps (and time ) with using eye makeup removers before washing up. When i was in my twenties cetaphil and neutrogena’s gentle cleanser worked well for me but like i mentioned earlier, getting older and having my skin change i feel that this wash is more up my alley Since it regulates your skins pH levels. The packaging is convenient as well the pump always gives you just the right amount of product without being wasteful and has never clogged on me. You also get quite a bit or atleast a little more than usual washes contain 13.52 oz to be exact so it should last you quite a while. and even though it might not be a big deal to some, having limited space in my bathroom cabinets I appreciate the simplicity of the packaging. It is a taller cylindrical shape that fits easily with my other products compared to some other washes i have owned that design their bottles to be unnecessarily bulky, wide or squared.
Bottom line, It may be pricy compared to regular drugstore face washes but if you are in your 30’s or older or if you have combo skin and just need a wash that will help keep it balanced I’d say it’s definitely worth every extra dollar
