This cleaner caused me to have the worst allergic reaction to a product that I have ever experienced in my life.
For context, I have combination, relatively agile skin. I am usually able to introduce a new product to my regime without issue.
Recently, as I have am getting older, my skin has been producing more oil and I have experienced mild acne on my jaw line and cheeks.
I was looking for a cleanser to address the increased oil production and in turn reduce the mild acne so I tried the Glamglow supercleanse mud-to foam cleanser.
I have used the Glamglow brightening mask with no issue so I trusted the brand.
I got a sample of the supercleanse and on the first day that I used it I noticed that it drew out my oil and my face felt quite clean. I liked the scent, which was quite medicinal.
I went out and got a bottle (costing me $60) on the second day that I used the product I noticed a stinging sensation on my face. I ignored it and just thought it was my skin adjusting to the new cleanser. By the evening, a rash had broken out over my entire face, around my eyes, on my cheeks and around my lips. My skin was so rough it felt like (what I imagine is) crocodile skin. The rashes soon turned into tiny pustules/ whiteheads. The rash was itchy and painful.
I had to see my Dr who confirmed that I had had a severe allergic reaction to the cleanser and that the whiteheads/ pustules indicated secondary sepsis I am currently on antibiotics and my skin seems to be slowly recovering. I am hoping I have not permanently damaged my skin. I have already booked to see a dermatologist because I am that worried that I have caused permanent damage to my skin.
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS CLEANSER. If you do decide to try it- use many samples before you fork out for a full bottle.

SO ANNOYED!! Used GlamGlow products in the past so I didn’t think twice when they brought out cleansers. This has completely destroyed all my hard work on my skin. I used it once in the evening and my face seemed fine on the morning. Got to the middle of the day and my face had a burning/irritated sensation and it was red. The day after that I noticed little white pustules on my skin and it looks burnt!! My face is so sore and it feels like it’ll take a while to go. So annoying this product should be banned!! All the other reviews are bad too so why are they selling this?? Hands down the worst product I’ve ever used – I had it on for not even a minute and the damage is awful!! Absolutely disgusted with the brand I won’t buy anything from them ever again.

This is the only cleanser that left my face feeling less clean than prior to use.
It’s a very heavily scented (black licorice) gel..mud (?) type substance.
I vigorously rubbed my palms together with the product and water but yielded no lather as the instructions promised. Very unsatisfying experience with abysmal results.

I like the non-foaming aspect but I found it was not an effective cleanser. This is a charcoal based, slimy feeling cleanser that does not foam. Slight anise scent, there is nothing to fault about this other than that it doesn’t really do a decent job cleansing. Pls try before you buy. On no make up days, I did not feel clean and toner pad had too much grime left over. The masks in this line are much better.

This cleanser is way too harsh for anyone’s skin in my opinion. First I have acne prone skin, and not a newbie in regards to acids/retinols/retinoids. (Pixi Glow tonic, Sunday Riley Good Genes, Sunday Riley Luna oil, and Differin user) So my skin really isn’t sensitive. I love the GlamGlow supermud mask, so I figured I’d like the cleanser as well. Nope, a big mistake. This really irritated my skin.
Like prior reviewers leaves skin very tight and stripped of oils. Due to that fact, I can’t use this around my eyes (I get eyelid eczema occasionally) and after 1 week of use, I got my eyelid eczema back as well as dermatitis on my cheek, and corner of my mouth. (Argh)
It does feel great on the skin, like a watered down version of the mask. Pleasant smell, applies smoothly and washes off without scrubbing. However due to clay and charcoal it’s messy clean up. So cleaning up the skin twice a day to avoid staining is a pain.

TLDR; broke me out like I’ve never experienced before on my oily-but-not-usually-that-sensitive skin. Don’t buy, don’t touch, don’t even look at it. 0/10 do not recommend. If you try, do a patch test!! The only good thing – the ONLY ONE (1) good thing – is the hygienic packaging. That’s all.
I got it in the set that contained a small sample size of this cleanser and the 15ml of supermud mask. The glamglow mask has been great for my skin; an HG item that did wonders for my cystic acne. So I decided to test out this cleanser too. I tried it once, was like eh, forgot about it for a few weeks then found it again. The consistency is much like the mud mask, and it felt tingly and refreshing when applying it and it was easy to wash off. A cleansing version of the mud mask, basically.
I used it twice daily for 2-3 days with no complications (side note: This would be the start of my Worst Mistake Ever). In the morning of my second day or so, I thought the texture of my skin felt a bit weird. Y’know when you sometimes overexfoliate and your skin becomes red and bumpy? Or when you haven’t exfoliated properly and it felt like patches of skin was still clinging onto your wet face when you wash it? It felt a bit rougher, more textured than usual, but I ignored the signs and thought it was just… idek, I dont even have an excuse. I had some hopes that it might be able to clear some acne, but I didn’t expect such a hostile reaction.
To provide some BG, my skin is oily, prone to some bouts of cystic acne, but relatively calm and smooth most days of the week. My biggest concern is hyper-pigmentation caused by cystic acne. When I get pimples, they’re pretty localised like on the bottom of my chin, which is where I rest my head on my hands often, and my cheeks, which is probably some other health concern my body is telling me about or something. Basically, it usually means I can introduce new items without experiencing any major mishaps, and I (generally) know my limits.
Until now. On the morning of my third day, I saw hundreds of tiny little white heads had sprouted along my cheeks, around my mouth, and on parts of my forehead. I’m not kidding. It looked like some severe form of fungal acne that were sprouting into whiteheads.
I looked like a strawberry cake sprinkled with icing sugar, but instead of cake it’s pain and instead of sugar it’s whiteheads. My upper lip area felt stiff, and overall felt like the aftermath of a chemical peel. My skin was bumpy and red and tight. This had been the worst allergic reaction I’ve ever had from any item I’ve ever used. I’ve tried peels and acids and needling and oils, but it was this tiny tube that wreaked such havoc on my face to the point of twisted admirability. I can see that I’m not the only one who experienced poor reactions, so it makes you wonder wtf is in this. I stopped putting anything on my skin and only applied plain oatmeal mask three times a day for the inflammation, and then I would use argan oil or the paw paw ointment for dry patches. Sudocrem is good for rashes too. I washed my face with water or the Dove soap bar.
I honestly doubt this is a ‘purging’ stage. As the hours pass, more and more whiteheads seem to be popping up to say hello and I’m trying very hard not to do anything rash like scrape my face raw and squeeze every single white head to smooth it out.
I hope that to whoever reads this review, you would have a better experience and is a bit less willfully ignorant than I was lol. All I can advise is that you proceed with caution. Patch test this item. Or avoid the risk and just don’t buy it at all…

I tried this just once, and that was enough. I like to wash my face with a clay cleanser or use a clay once or twice a month, and this came in my Sephora play box, so I was pretty happy.
It feels wonderful when I’m using it – so smooth and creamy and lots of lather. I use a low pH cleanser 100% of the time because it’s better for skin, and I miss that luxurious feeling. It rinsed off okay, but I could tell immediately how drying it was and my face was tight in a way I haven’t felt in many years, even after using harsh cleansers or masks occasionally.
The price on this is ridiculous for the ingredients. There are a ton of clay cleansers out there at decent prices. Clay is dirt-cheap, because it is literally dirt. So is charcoal and everything else on the ingredients list.
It was more than drying, though – it was irritating. I know people love essential oils because they’re natural but they can be seriously irritating – there is a reason the maximum exposure to many of them is as low as .5%. I avoid them in products but figured just this once would be okay, but I was wrong. My skin looked terrible for two days and I had to skip my usual products and just stick to very basic moisturizers and vaseline for a few days.
I would only recommend this for people with extremely oily, non-sensitive skin who do not use any anti-acne medicines (salicylic acid or BP) or anything like lactic acids or retinol.

The Glam Glow SUPERCLEANSE Clearing Mud to Foam Facial Cleanser lacks many good beneficial ingredients and instead includes irritating ingredients. In fact, as I was testing it out it left my eyes burning and watering due to the included Peppermint Oil, which is high up on the ingredient list. They have also included fragrance and many other fragrance components such as linalool.
I’m not sure if it is because of the formula or the peppermint but I wasn’t ever able to fully remove my eye makeup which is a disappointment. Using this left my skin feeling dry and slightly peeling. I would definitely recommend against using this cleanser, especially if you have dry or sensitive skin. My video review is here:
