The most luxurious, velvety, expensive-feeling cleanser I’ve ever used. It’s soooooo soothing, leaves my skin feeling soft and fresh. for the next steps to my skincare routine It also removes my makeup and sunscreen very well, though using it in a double cleanse is better. It’s like an upgraded version of the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser with far better cleansing abilities…
One thing I’m not a fan of is that I feel it dispenses a tad too much product but that can be altered by pumping with less might lol.
Its size was increased not too long ago and I just had to get it after reading glowing reviews about it all over the internet. If you have sensitive, normal/dry skin that doesn’t f with fragrance, this is the cleanser for you!

I’m on my second bottle of this cleanser. I use a Balm to remove my makeup and this as second cleanse. I also use alone on no makeup days. I love this cleanser. It’s soothing, does not dehydrate my skin, and leaves me feeling clean without being stripped of any moisture. It does not contain fragrance that I am aware of and does not sting or irritate my skin when I’ve pushed too hard with my Retin A.
I highly recommend this brand in its entirety to anyone looking for a genuinely good line of products without all of the additional ingredients that are unnecessary.
I use this cleanser, the Rewind, Liquid Gold and Fortify. I am waiting for her to do a balm cleanser, and I will buy in a heartbeat!

I am basing this review on a decanted sample I bought from a Reddit thread.
I have an autoimmune condition (a couple actually) and I have very dehydration prone skin. I can’t use anything fming whatsoever.
Oil cleansing is not for me. I have large pores and my skin doesn’t shed dry skin easily, even with exfoliating products of which I need to be very gentle with anyway. Oil cleansing leads to trapped dry skin cells and sebum under the layer of oil and I get closed comedones.
I have been using Cetaphil with a muslin cloth for a while and while it rarely causes problems there are some days it can really irritate my eyes. I don’t wear heavy makeup; clear mascara and maybe eyeliner on the lashline tinted SPF, gel or cream blush. That’s it. Cetaphil has a hard time getting that off and I have to use both micellar water and Cetaphil. This is too drying. I tried using just micellar water but it’s not cleansing enough in one go, I have to use a couple of soaked cotton pads…too much product=dryness. There are other cream cleansing options but they all have their downsides and so I kept returning to Cetaphil because, above all, it causes no skin redness and swelling in my cheeks (I have rosacea)
Enter Stratia. I have decants of this and soft touch AHA. I am reviewing the AHA later because it’s a very gentle product and would like more time to report results.
So far, I am really enjoying Velvet Cleansing milk. Its a thick, white and velvety cream that does feel oily when I spread it on my wet skin. when I rinse,I experience no dryness or irritation and it doesn’t seem to leave a residue. My skin feels clean and smooth and has a bit of a special gleam. It removes the spf I wear (usually LRP Anthelios) and a tinted moisturizer with ease and more importantly the grease from my job as I am a hotline cook. I will continue to test this out and update in 3 weeks.
***UPDATE*** this cleanser is not drying, rinses clean and removes makeup. However, I am sensitive to something in this cleanser. I don’t know for sure but I think its the ester that is used as the surfactant in this cleanser.
Quick Update- in 2016 there was a preservative issue which I needn’t go into. The company (well Ali Reed herself) refunded and sent me a free bottle. THAT is how customer service is done.
I will continue to use it until the bottle is fully gone before I give my final opinion.
*Final Update* Yes, I love this cleanser. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a cleanser. Stratia has a jumbo size bottle now and I have repurchased several times. HG for me, I adore it. Ive been using this cleanser for about six months and I will not be looking back

I loooooooove this cleanser! It’s easily the best and most gentle cleanser I’ve ever used. It’s more hydrating than CeraVe, and any irritation I have is soothed on application.
A couple of things I do find that detract from this are the amount you get for the price as well as the packaging. The pump cannot be secured for travel (I’ve tried), which results in quite a bit of leaked product. Additionally, the old squeeze bottle, while less-fancy, yielded 5 ounces of product as opposed to 4 ounces. The price wasn’t lowered after the switch, which I find irksome.
Again, I will keep buying this faithfully, but I do hope the packaging is improved and that the quantity of product increases.

Slightly sad to see a negative review on this because I quite liked this product myself, so let me give an alternative view on it if you’re curious!
I used this cleanser as a morning cleanser. As with most water-based cleansers (especially the ones advertised as being gentle or low to non-foaming), I don’t expect them to remove makeup. I’d rather rely on micellar water or an oil cleanser for that. Given that particular expectation, I thought this cleanser performed fantastically. A lot of water-based cleansers have dried out my skin, perhaps due to the strong surfactants in the ingredients list. This didn’t do any of that. Only two other cleansers have worked similarly on my skin – Glossier’s cleanser and the gel cleanser by Antipodes.
I would’ve loved to see how this would perform as a second cleanser after an oil cleanser or something when removing makeup. Unfortunately, my review is based off a small sample of the cleanser that I didn’t get a lot of time to really test this out. But I do have pretty much everything I personally need to know about this cleanser even just based off that small sample – it doesn’t dry my skin out, it doesn’t leave it feeling tight after rinsing (I hate that lol), it didn’t make me break out or have other negative reactions and most importantly, it cleansed my face.

I have combination (dry-oily) skin that is dehydrated. I was looking for a gentle cleanser that won’t irritate and dry out my skin. The texture of this product is like a cream-lotion. On the website, it is stated that it can be used by most skin types except for those with very oily skin.
The one good point about this cleanser is that it doesn’t leave a very heavy film on the skin like some of the drugstore brands. I have tried a few cream cleansers before and they left a heavy film on my skin and felt very uncomfortable and suffocating. This one does that, but just a little bit.
Why I don’t like this cleanser: I found that when I used it around my eye area and washed it off, my eyes felt very heavy and irritated all day. It wasn’t red or puffy, but it just felt uncomfortable and irritating. When I went back to my previous cleanser, which is targeted for dry skin type (!), I didn’t have that problem anymore. I believe there is something in this cleanser that is not good for the eye area.
Another point is that this cleanser can be drying, I don’t have very dry skin and this made my skin feeling parched. I found that it was a little bit harsh for sensitive skin.
Do take note that it won’t remove waterproof sunscreen or heavy makeup, it’s a gentle cleanser. Even though I don’t find it to be that gentle.
IMO I would suggest you try something else, this product is not worth it. I wouldn’t repurchase.
