This is the most luxurious makeup remover & face cleanser I have ever used, I love everything about it (except the price). But I managed to score a full-sized bottle as a gwp when getting some other BB products because I otherwise wouldn’t of bought this, I have cleansing products that work just fine for less $.
I use 3-4 pumps, massage it on my dry skin, give things a few splashes of water, and boom – all makeup gone, even my waterproof mascara and long wearing foundation. Doesn’t strip moisture, is definitely hydrating and quite nice in the winter when I struggle with dehydration. Smells delicious, I think the essential oil blends in BB’s products are lovely and fear their new mother brand will mess this up in the future. I’ve been using this for a few months and am surprised at how little is gone from the bottle, so I definitely want to buy more. This has been one product that truly has impressed me!

I like the way cleansing oils work for me (effective and non-drying), and I want something I can keep in the shower – preferably with a pump dispenser. This cleansing oil works well for me. I thoroughly massage it with dry hands onto my dry face, and when I rinse with water everything (BB/TM, mascara, lip stains) comes off. It has a nice scent to it as well – nice but not really necessary. Works nicely, just not my favorite.

I splurged and treated myself to a 6.7 oz bottle of this for $48 – which is almost double what I’ve ever spent on a cleansing oil before, hoping that the investment would pay off and reduce the amount of time spent removing m/u at the end of each day. But…this is one investment that’s not paying off for me!
I use 2 pumps of this, which is fine – so long as I’m not trying to remove long-wearing makeup. If I am, this does not remove it, unless I have a good few minutes to spare massaging into my face and trying to dissolve my m/u. I’ve tried massaging into my skin, rinsing and repeating and that works but leaves my skin feeling extra oily. I definitely prefer DHC or even MAC’s cleansing oils over this, both results-wise and price-wise. BB’s is lightly scented (floral-lavender) and compared to other cleansing oils I’ve used before the consistency is somewhat thinner, yet somehow always manages to leave a strange ‘afterfeel’ on my skin every time, which I then have to remove with my PC, or any other foam/gel cleanser (so much for saving time!). I don’t have to do this with any other oil I use which is why once this bottle finishes I won’t be repurchasing.

i apply a small amount to dry skin and kind of massage it in, then splash on water and blend a bit more before rinsing. It comes off very easily and leaves your skin hydrated and very soft but NO oily remnants. Worth the money!This luxe oil takes off ALL makeup including waterproof mascara.

What it is: Bobbi Brown Cleansing Oil ($44 for 6.7 oz); available at Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Saks, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bluemercury and Sephora.
What it does: Same as the others; a cleanse or pre-cleanse for your evening routine to remove make-up before you deep clean.
Why I bought it: This was my first interaction with cleansing oils. I bought it for nights when I wanted to do a quick cleanse, but not my more elaborate routine (or what I considered elaborate at the time). I know better than to leave make-up on when you go to bed, but there’s no reason we can’t make it a little easier. This was also well before make-up wipes were mainstream.
Pros: By far the most cost-effective on my list, this is a decent cleansing oil. Perhaps not my favorite, but not for anything negative. I just enjoy the texture and scent of some of the others more. This is a thinner formula, so it can spread in your hand quickly when you dispense it; I also feel like that makes me use more to get a nice emolient texture going on my face. I have also gotten this in a travel mini, so that makes is better for taking on the go or for trying out which is helpful.
Cons: As I said, for me it’s a little too thin; I prefer the thicker textures these days. Ultimately the cons for most of these are going to come down to preference once you’ve tried a few. Some are more emollient than others, but they all work generally the same.
Will I buy it again: If i were in a pinch and it was the only one accessible? Sure; I might even buy the travel mini again just to have the bottle to decant to. If I have access to others on this list, would I buy this one again? Not likely, but only because I love others more.

I got a small bottle of this in a kit with eyeshadow and liner. I have tried at least 10 other oil makeup removers before. This is good for the days I wear light makeup that isn’t super long-wearing – it can handle that type of makeup well. So, if you’re that kind of person, this would be good enough, although I consider it to be very expensive…
However, this is not good enough for me. I often wear long-wearing makeup on my eyes, and sometimes on my whole face. These are products that are supposed to withstand a 16h day. This oil dissolves everything, but only after about 2 minutes of massaging my face. I have products that work WAY faster than that, that are way cheaper.
Products I can compare this to in effectiveness are: The Body Shop Chamomille Cleansing Balm and Dermablend Makeup Dissolver. Otherwise: didn’t break me out (but might not be good for oily, acne-prone people and those with fungal acne), didn’t sting my eyes, rinsed away OK, but as far mt oil cleansers, I had to follow up with foaming cleanser for no residue to be left.

This isn’t the right product for me but only because I have super sensitive eyes and anything that might run down to my eyes need to be very gentle. It’s not difficult to get it in your eyes as you wash your face, you know. And I don’t know what it says on the bottle, I tried the product with the samples I’ve received with my other Bobbi Brown purchase, but looking at the ingredients personally I wouldn’t advise using this on the eye area.
If my eyes weren’t an issue though I would probably purchase it. I’m not a fan of products with fragrance but this has such a lovely floral scent for my taste AND it doesn’t say “Perfume/Fragrance” in the ingredients so I take it as the scent is coming from the natural oils only. I put some on a piece of cotton, wiped my face with it, then for a second time with another cotton, and washed my face. My whole make-up was gone. For comparison when I use micellar water I only need to wipe my face once, so this oil is more time-consuming. However, micellar water always leaves my skin dry while this oil left my face softer even after I washed it.
The price is expensive but a small amount of oil does the work. Because I used samples I can even give a number; the sample size is 10oz/3 ml and I only used half of it to clean the foundation & blush on my face. So the 200ml bottle would last for a long time for me. Also I think the transculent bottle with pumper looks lovely and is easy to use.

I was lucky to receive a deluxe sample of this and was pleasantly surprised. I rub it around on my dry face/eyes and I find it does a good job at removing makeup. You have to rub it around pretty well and rinse off thoroughly but it works better than the MAC or Fresh oil cleansers in my opinion. My face doesn’t feel like it has an oily residue after washing and when I tone with a cotton pad I don’t see that much dirt leftover on the cotton. I tried this before checking the reviews here and was surprised to see so many negative ones. I think if it was cheaper it would have a higher rating. The deluxe sample is my current go to face wash when I have a face full of makeup but the price hinders me from purchasing regularly.

The lingering scent even after my second step cleanse is floral and awful! This oil did not properly clean all of the makeup from my face as compared to Burt’s Bees oil or Clinique balm. Thumbs down.

I used this cleansing oil nightly to remove my makeup. It worked quite well in removing everything, even eye makeup, without any irritation. My skin is combo normal/oily and never had any issues with dryness or irritation using this oil. I did always follow up with a foamy cleanser as that’s my routine, though I don’t know if it’s completely necessary. The oil rinsed off fine. It did seem to take several pumps (usually 4-5) to get enough product for a thorough cleaning. If not for the high price, I would probably repurchase; however, I think there are less expensive versions that do the same job.
