I love using this in the winter when my skin is sensitive, parched from the heated air & I simply can’t tolerate the thought of using another stripping cleanser. It’s another in the long line of recent first-step cleanser/makeup removers in the tradition of Eve.lom. Regardless, the old-fashioned scent and luxurious balmy-wax texture make it seem like a Victorian product (a predecessor to Pond’s seminal 1940s invention) that has been deliciously re-discovered. It’s best used exactly like Eve.lom – with a muslin cloth & warm water prior to your regular cleanser. A must-try for all sensitive-skinned rose-lovers.

I hate to be the naysayer with this stuff, but I did not like it. The first couple of weeks it was great, and my skin looked pretty decent. Then it all fell apart. The cleanser changes texture. It got little bumpy bits in it. I wasn’t expecting this to be an exfoliating cleanser. I was starting to severely break out. Also It didn’t seem to work if applied to wet skin. It would just slide off. I wash my face in the shower, so stopping to dry my face just to wash it was a pain. I faithfully removed it with a warm cloth, until the end, realizing that that may be the cause of my break-outs, Then I just started rinsing it with warm water. But in the end, it didn’t matter what I did, I just couldn’t get this cleanser to work for me. Sad, too. I loved the rose scent.

This is an above average cleanser 🙂 This retails for US$32 for a 100ml tube. This is the description on its website, ‘This new generation cleanser melts on contact with the skin to lift every last trace of the day and improve condition. A fine blend of pure Moroccan rose petal concentrate and shea butter gently exfoliates the skin, enveloping make-up and daily pollution.’ 🙂 At first, the smell of roses is really strong and unbearable. Also, if it gets into your eyes, it will sting badly. I never used any other cleansers that sting like this before 🙂 However, I took it out to use again recently, and the formula seemed to have became more mild and watery. I don’t really like the consistency, because it seemed to leak and flow out of the tube easily when it is stored lying on its side 🙂 This is why this got a ‘1’ for Packaging Quality from me. Also, I don’t know what the material of this tube is made of, but if you squeeze it in the middle too many times, there will be a dent in the tube. Also, I remembered last time when I put this in a cold room, its contents will ‘freeze’ and harden, and you can easily put it in a warmer place to melt it. It was fun 🙂 I am finishing this tube, and I realized that the contents seemed different from when I started using it. Now, what I got was a more milky substance with a more oily-feel. In the beginning, I got a clear liquid which seemed to be more diluted. Maybe I got a bad tube or an old tube. This is the first time I got an oil-based cleanser, and I quite like it 🙂 This is not like my other cleansers which leaves my face tight and dry. With this, my face feels moisturized after cleansing, and I don’t need much of an effort to clean my face. I don’t really see any exfoliating properties as claimed by the website though, as there are no exfoliating properties which I can see in the tube 🙂 This removes my makeup well however, I don’t need to tug or pull as with my other makeup removers. It even removed my waterproof eyeliner and mascara effortlessly 🙂 This is a good makeup remover and a cleanser in one 🙂 However, I would like to try other oil-based cleansers and I will not repurchase this unless they repackaged it or if I cannot find a better oil-based cleanser 🙂

If you have dry flaky skin, and use foundation, this cleanser is lovely. It’s gentle enough for daily use, and removes make up easily. The only down sides are that it doesn’t really make a difference to complexion (although yoor skin does feel nice and clean of sweat and dirt) and it requires a muslin cloth which can be annoying if you prefer the wash type of cleanser. I would say it’s best point is that it doesn’t dry your skin out in the slightest bit even when used daily!

Received this in a recent swap, and I’m pleasantly surprised. The texture is a cross between a gel and an oily balm, and it goes on smooth and comforting. It melts makeup and sunscreen off completely. I apply it without using water and massage it in for a few minutes. To remove I use a cotton pad or washcloth soaked in warm water, and then I do a final splash of cold water to tighten my pores. I like for a wipe-off rinsable cleanser, this is very easy to remove. Unlike Liz Earle and Eve Lom’s cleansers which require a lot more wiping or rubbing off. And there’s no filmy feel on the skin either. My skin feels moisturized and soft, but not suffocated. I love the hint of rose scent as well which reminds me a lot of my favorite Smith’s Rosebud Salve. I don’t know if I’ll use this cleanser year round, but it’s a definite must have for winter and for the times when my skin is feeling dehydrated.

A very gentle, emollient cleanser that literally melts the makeup right off of my face. It is gently massaged onto the skin, and then removed with a warm, moist muslin cloth (rinsing cloth frequently). I’ve used this for a year, and I love how this feels on my skin. It is like a mini-facial…. very soothing and smells great too! It leaves my dry, sensitive skin feeling clean and soft.

This cleanser smells deliciously (but not overpoweringly) of roses, and has an interesting buttery consistency – it works on the Eve Lom ‘massage it in, polish off with a hot cloth’ principle, and does perform well, leaving my skin clean but soft and not at all tight. However – there’s always a however, hey? – it’s pretty expensive for the amount you get, if you leave the tube in a warm place (er, like your bathroom), the first thing to squeeze out is a load of oil, unless you massage the tube a bit first, and it does sting if you get it in your eyes. So I might buy it again, for a treat and because the Molton Brown packaging is kind of seductive, but to be honest, Boots Time Delay Massaging Balm and Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish are just as effective, much cheaper and don’t sting… EDIT: after using this for a while, I have to take off two lippies: IT STINGS MY EYES! and what good is that in a cleanser, for heaven’s sake?

I love this product. It is easy to use, very comfortable, delicate on the skin and removes all makeup very well. For cleansing heavy makeup it is still fantastic! Also very suitable for sensitive skins like mine.

This product works really well. It did just what it claimed it would do. It melts the make-up right off. It also left my face feeling soft. Problem is, it costs over 30 dollars for 3.3 ounces. So I think I will stick with Cetaphil which works really well also and costs less than 1/3 the price of this.

I love this! It’s a sort of runny buttery texture that melt into an oily cleanser on the skin. You wash it off using the muslin cloth provided. It has a gorgeous rose smell. It does a really good job of removing makeup, although it does tingle a bit if you get it in your eyes. It’s a lovely alternative to the Eve Lom cleanser, and a good bit cheaper too. The only downside to this is the packaging – the first tube I got was leaking from the top, so I took it back and exchanged it – I’m about halfway through and the seem has split at the top. Sort your packing out Molton Brown – your ruining an otherwise excellent product.
