This is the best cleanser when my skin starts getting breakouts.
I alternate between this, Avene foaming and/or Avene gentle cleansing lotion. They all come in handy depending, as my skin is finicky to the extreme.
This one is extremely efficient. In fact, a full pump will do your face and your neck and maybe some to spare. Therefore, half a pump is enough. It is a great product, esp if you do oil prior (to break down makeup) and need something to wash properly afterwards. You can even use a Japanese foaming net to get more suds, something I used to do.
It has a lovely fragrance which doesn’t bother my sensitive skin whatsoever.
Following this with 2 layers of MUJI toning water for sensitive skin, is a fantastic combination for my sensitive/breakout-prone skin.
According to a blog by a lady with Japanese background, often, prior to all the modern-day marketing and adding on items–which generates tons of sales of course–Japanese people would simply cleanse, tone, and use toning water as moisturizer, especially during the summer. And an emulsion for winter.
Since my skin acts up if I try too much, I must do actives only once in a while (Bioderma serum with niacinamide, philosophy vit c powder) and keep it simple most of the time. This item from Garnier fits perfectly into that routine.

I got it because of the review below as I trust her opinion— she is correct. It dried out upon thd first use a pimple that was forming and thus far has kept my skin clear. Except for the monthly blemish which nothing can fix only reduce in size. Strange texture but good.
I used her advice re: oil cleansing and wash off the oil with this instead of using a warm/hot washcloth. This works very well. So first i apply then massage on a very simple oil blend then wash with this cleansing gel, morning and night.

I’ve been using this product for the last 13 years and I always come back to it.
Let me first say this has been my only face product until the skincare frenzy came in fashion – in the last year or two I started buying more specific products, but nothing will ever replace the oveall action of this one and the help it gave me through life.
I definitely can tell this controlled my teenage huge amount of hormonal pimples for well, all my teenage years. I discovered I was acne prone (a very mild acne, but still..) only when I discontinued using this. My perfect, lovely skin disappeared as soon as I tried something different. Actually I started using make up only when my skin’s real nature surfaced – I never ever ever put something on my face except for some eyeliner and mascara, and cleansed with Garnier’s pure skin every day.
Sometimes I still come back to it, maybe it feels a little harsher and I need more moisturizer, but it might be due to age and different climate (I grew up under the Alps and now live on a 365 days sunny island). I’m not sure if they changed the formula.
So, it appears like a clear gel, and one big pump is enough for a lovely and refreshing cleanse. I never found another product that feels so refreshing and chilly once you use it. It’s very enjoyable expecially in summer! It helps keeping the skin matte and the pores clear. I strongly suggest this for oily skins.
Buuuuut.. beware ladies and gents. Garnier did an “improved” version of this, including active charcoal with a claimed action on zits. DON’T BUY IT. It is literally hell. I’ve been using it in the last month and my skin has never been this bad. It gave me a rash within the first use and it burns a lot. Plus, no visible effect after 30+ days of daily use. Zits are still there and there are plenty of new pimples, too small and hard to get rid of. Brrrrrr!

This gel is great: cleans my face, reduces oil, and gets off makeup. I love that it foams, and leaves a tingling feeling after I’ve washed my face. It leaves my face with a clean, refreshing feeling. The only downside to this is to make sure to have a good moisturizer afterwards, because it IS drying. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone with normal to dry skin.

I quite like this cleanser. I have oily and acne prone skin and have found this cleanser so far to be great at controlling it. I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks now and started it when I had a bad breakout from the garnier bb cream. As soon as I stopped using the bb cream and started using this it calmed my skin down within a couple of days and has kept it at bay. I found its kept my redness and acne a lot calmer than anything else I’ve used.
It doesn’t dry out my skin and it hasn’t become more oily from the cleanser “stripping it”. I think its a good cleanser for its price. Normally my skin would get sore and tight are using this type of cleanser for a long period of time but I can use it twice a day with no problems.

I bought this cleanser yesterday so I will have to update on the effects. So far, I love it. I am hoping it will be a replacement for me for the St. Ives Clear Pore Cleanser Purifying Face Wash (RIP *sniffle*). This cleanser makes my face feel fresh and clean, it is great at taking makeup off. I would say that oil handling is pretty on par with everything else I use (which is good enough). I love that it comes out as a gel but lathers quite a bit. I also enjoy the smell, even though it is a touch strong. I have combination skin that is tough as nails, and this face wash says NOT to use if you have sensitive or dry skin….if you have sensitive/dry skin you should probably avoid medicated cleansers like this anyway. I will update with continued use…still on the search for a new HG cleanser. UPDATE: Unfortunately this cleanser was a touch too harsh for my hard-as-nails skin….I began to get bumps of irritation….not sure if it was the zinc or what…but I sadly stopped using it.

This gel literally saved my life. My face began breaking out all the time when I was 17 and everyone kept pointing out how ugly my skin looked. I was devastated and tried a bunch of pharmaceutical products, homemade anti-acne masks etc. but nothing seemed to work. This one saved my face! When you start using it,you’ll feel like using a scrub maybe. It’s tingling and it has a tingling menthol kick which is really enjoyable and refreshing! I apply it every night on my face and it removes every little bit of make-up,in addition to leaving my face very smooth and clean! Its anti-acne action is very strong, since it contains zinc and salicylic acid. I had small red zits all over my face,as a result of stress and it made them disappear completely! I’ve never felt better with my face! Attention! If you have dry or dryish skin, DO NOT BUY this gel. It will dry out your skin even more. If you have oily//combination or normal skin,I guarantee you it WILL work. Great price too. You’ll find it in drugstors or even convenience stores. It’s really easy to find! I was surprised at how a relatively cheap and common cleansing gel is actually so drastic. Go for it!

I love this cleanser! It actually makes your skin feel and look perfectly clean – without need to use make-up wipes before or after. It has a menthol kick which gives a refreshing cooling sensation.
Does not make me break out and I just love the feeling. I have been using for many years – never lets me down. Price is great too!

Let me start out by saying that I love this cleanser! (for my oily skin). The acidity of this cleanser makes it only suitabled for oily skin – it’ll dry out too much any other. When it comes to cleansers, there’s no ‘one size fits all’ as everybody’s skin is unique, so be wary of reviews where someone’s skin is most likely different from your own. I would only recommend trying this cleanser if you have oily skin where it does wonders to clean off that oil and leave a clean, fresh feeling afterwards not brought about with milder cleansers. Also keep in mind that stubborn acne is not always solved by ‘miracle’ cleansers and time/medication may be necessary. I wouldn’t recommend it to remove makeup as I prefer the scrub to makes sure I get everything off and then follow with this for a thorough cleaning. If I ever do feel my skin getting dry a simple application of moisturizer fixes my worries. Hope this helps!

this is an amazing cleanser. I havent broken out once using it, and its been a month. It lasts forever, because you need so little.
