So at first I was not a fan of this cleansing oil primarily because of the hefty price tag. A sample of this was given to me after buying the Hard 9 eyebrow pencil. This sat for many weeks in my drawer until I finally decided to use it. Gosh I was completely wrong for trying countless cleansing balms and oils from Etude House, Biore, Purevivi, Shisedo and Lush instead of using this. Though oils from Purevivi and Shiseido are really nice, i still have to give it up to this cleansing oil – the top spot! The consistency is thin yet removes dirt and grime effortlessly. I found out tha thin consistency is more suitable to oily and acne prone skins – so as not to aggravate the blemishes. So what I do is gently massage this into my entire face and focusing the massage to my eyes – to remove those stubborn eye makeups. After doing so, I wash my face with lukewarm water and continue with the 2nd cleansing regime – i.e. facial wash.
Believe me, spending more is worth it if you really are serious on taking care of your skin. I will definitely stash my other cleansing oils and keep this baby on my counter.

I’ve used a couple of cleansing oils in the past, and I stuck with the DHC Cleansing Oil for several months (maybe a year?)… until I decided to splurge on Shu Uemura’s. Seemed like a no-brainer for me because, even though Shu’s was more expensive, the bottle was twice as big as DHC’s. I didn’t know which to pick at first out of their impressive range, but went with Porefinist since I had Combination and currently acne-prone skin.
If you’ve used DHC’s oil, you’ll notice a big difference in Shu Uemura’s in that the consistency is thinner and spreads more easily on your face. I didn’t have to use too many pumps to get everything out and there was no feeling of thickness on my skin after the oil was washed off. There is a moisturizing feeling, however, but nothing a toner can’t handle. My skin did not feel dry or tight after. It’s incredible, so do give this one a try if you’re comfortable with the price tag.
ETA: I am an avid wearer of liquid lipsticks, and since this review, I’ve used this cleansing oil (+ Vaseline) to remove them all VERY successfully.

Best Cleansing Oil for Oily or Acne Prone face. I have developed adult acne triggered by stress and this cleanser gave me very good results! It first dried out the acne and then gradually lessened my breakout. After just 2 months of daily use twice a day, my face is literally free of breakouts and became smoother than ever. I am very happy I was able to use this. It is a great gentle cleanser with exfoliating effect and prevents blackheads!

This is my HG cleanser! I have never used a product that left my skin so clean feeling. I use it twice a day, every day! It is a great makeup remover. It foams up nicely and cleans very well. I have oily skin and it’s such a pleasure to use this product! It is very expensive though, $82 CDN for a 450 mL bottle, but it works so well!
