I love this cleansing balm. I have sensitive skin and worried that I might have a reaction to it, but I didn’t. It cleans my skin and comes off completely when I use a microfiber cloth. I enjoy the smell and texture and feel my skin always looks better when I use this to cleanse my face at night.

So far I’ve been liking the makeup and skin care from Beauty Pie, but this one is the turkey in the bunch. This week, I pondered maybe I was using it wrong. But after looking at the ingredients and the directions, I concluded it wasn’t me, it was it. Since DHC Pore Cleansing Oil is my everyday oil, I wasn’t used to using a solid cleansing balm, and I admit this is my only experience with solid oil cleansers. The product looked interesting, so I thought I’d give it a shot. The product comes in a heavy green glass jar with its very own tiny plastic scoop and a small white muslin cloth you use to remove the product. It smells unique–kind of an apricot and white chocolate thing going on there. The way you use it is to scoop a small amount into the palm of your hand with the scoop, spread it over a dry face and neck, and then massage while adding warm water. Supposedly it turns milky and emulsifies the lipid-soluble schmutz off your face. Then remove the emulsion with the muslin cloth. So, it would be the first step in a double cleanse.
In my case, the product didn’t mix with the warm water all that well. It doesn’t rinse cleanly without the cloth. Even with the cloth, it still left oil slicks on the surface of my bath water. My face felt greasy and filmy afterward. I couldn’t wait to get some DHC Mild Soap all up in there to remove that film.
I will allow that it does do something: makeup, including tubing mascara, came off relatively easily, and my skin was fairly soft afterward. This product is probably better for users with dry skin, which used to be me but no longer.
