Looking back on my review on this in 2012, I thought I’d give this another mention as 7 years down the line, I still have this in my repertoire! I loved the smooth clay cleanser back then, and I still use this as a scrub/cleanser every now and then. As a daily cleanser, it will dry out the skin, but as a weekly scrub it works better. Naruko should extend its market as I don’t see their product range as much nowadays in Australia. In short, still enjoying this cleaner, and would repurchase periodically or if I can’t find any replacement, then I just go back to this one

Fantastic product!
Even though this is for oily combi skin…while the rose cleanser is for dry skin, this tea tree cleanser is even more moisturising than the rose cleanser!!
The rose cleanser too drying. My skin itches every time after i use the naruko rose cleanser

I’m loving this product! It’s a clay cleanser/mask 2 in 1 product. It contains a few small beads to gently exfoliate skin as you cleanse. It removes most makeup, but not waterproof or heavy makeup, and it foams slightly. You don’t need much as a little goes a long way.
I like foamy cleansers so it took a few days to get used to the fact this one doesn’t foam much, but that doesn’t mean it’s not working. I’ve seen some youtube reviews where this has been referred to as a cream cleanser – but it’s not a cream as such.
I’ve also tried this product as a face mask, and it works just as effectively as when it’s used as a cleanser. If I want to use it as a clay I apply it to a clean and dry face and leave it on for 10 or so minutes then add water and foam it up to rinse it off. It doesn’t go all tight and dry when used as a mask, like some other clay masks do, and it leaves no residue when washed off. (Ever left a facemask on a few minutes too long and found your skin is a slight colour same as the mask)!
While it’s not an overnight miracle worker (nothing is) at getting rid of acne it’s definitely working in a few important ways. Firstly, most tea tree products only inflame my acne even more because they’re so harsh but Naruko’s products are incredibly calming. I have a few products from their tea tree range and they somehow manage to calm my red and sensitive skin and hydrate at the same time as helping clear and prevent acne.
Believe it or not this cleanser is quite calming to apply to the skin. It smells more of mint toothpaste than tea tree to me, but I quite like the smell, and enjoy the cooling sensation this range gives my face.
I think though that for maximum effectiveness you’d need to use the matching Naruko toner, serum or lotion and night gelly. Night gelly – oh what a product!! It’s amazing! I’ll review that separately.
All in all I’m really enjoying this brand and as my skin changes and goes back to being more dry than oily I’m sure I’ll switch to one of the other ranges that Naruko offers.
I purchased my products from Watsons Pavillion. Sadly they don’t stock every single item but they do have most of the products. You can also buy this from various online retailers or Naruko’s website directly. I paid about 30RM at Watsons.
In summary, what sticks out the most about this product to me is it’s gentleness for a tea tree cleanser. And it’s a great 2 in 1 product – less money to spend and takes up less space in the bathroom!

I love using this cleanser! My skin feels soft and clean after using it. I also find that my pimples heal faster. As a cleanser, it is creamy and cleanses my skin well without drying. And it functions even better as a mask. You can slather it on and let it dry then wash off if you’ve got time to spare. If you just want a quick mask, put this on at the start of your shower and then rinse off at the end. I love to use this as a mask, especially after I’ve spent the whole night awake rushing out assignments. My skin usually looks like shit after not sleeping for 30+ hours and I’d even break out. But using this as a mask helps calm my skin down, plus it helps control my oily skin. The cleanser has some tiny blue beads inside to give it the extra scrub, but there’re so little beads that you don’t really feel it. Pricewise, I think it is an affordable and good cleanser that does help control my very oily skin. 🙂 I think this works well as a morning cleanser or as the 2nd step cleanser for your night routine. I’ve not tried using this to remove makeup though, so I’m not sure how it’d work for that. After all, makeup removers exist for a reason.

Be knowing Naruko for a quite long time. Have oily, acne skin and this is cleansing perfectly without leave skin dry after.
It also can be used as a mask, with the bits inside, it gently cleanses my skin and leave oil control longer.
Highly recommend oily, acne skin in the summer, as it contains mint as well, it may feel a bit cold and dry for winter time.
Price is good, $15 SGD per tube~~You can also catch some offer on their website~

this cleanser does not take off makeup! i always test new cleansers by using a toner on a cotton pad after cleansing…and most cleansers do a good job but this one failed. traces of makeup came off on the cotton pad and i had to go back and cleanse my face again with a different cleanser. this will be a good morning cleanser or for people who do not wear makeup.

Works well for me as a spot treatment, but irritates my dry and sensitive skin when used as an all-over mask or daily cleanser. I gave it to a friend who has very oily skin and she loves it.

This cleanser is a very good quality product. I love the fact that it cleanses the skin well without stripping the skin and/or leaving the skin feeling tight. While it is on the pricier side, a little amount goes a long way. One tube lasted me over 6 months with daily use. I also think that the excellent ingredients helped to keep my skin clear. I highly recommend this product.

This is a good cleanser, and I really like that it does double duty as a clay mask as well. When used as a cleanser, it has a creamy sort of texture that cleanses well. I use it after I’ve removed my make up. It’s a pretty good clay mask too that isn’t overly drying, but I can still see the little spots of oil it draws out from my pores, especially around the nose. I’ve also used it as a spot treatment to dry out pimples. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Depends on the blemish. I’ve repurchased this several times already since it’s a good multi-function product. Even my husband likes to use it as a cleanser. My only wish was that it had less or no menthol. I don’t think it’s necessary and I think for sensitive skin it might be overpowering.

U would think a clay cleanser would be more gritty! But no, it’s creamy and comfortable texture-wise even for dry/ dehydrated skin. It doesn’t lather much but goes on gently and rinses without stripping. I like it more as a mask because it acts like a clay mask but feels like a hydrating mask. Skin is brighter, smoother, and overall feels clean. Not sure how it’s helped with breakouts as of now. Only gripe I have is the addition of menthol. I heard the old formula didn’t have this. I feel that while the cooling effect is refreshing, as a mask it felt really really cool and unnessecary in my opinion. Will repurchase because it’s one of the better clay masks I’ve tried.
