This could have been released as a all purpose balm, but it should never have been released as a makeup remover. Its meant to be the first step for a double cleanse to remove makeup, for sensitive skin. Its a pink tinted thick waxy balm that comes in a pretty pink windup tube like a giant flat chapstick. The packaging is awesome, swiping a remover directly on my face from a giant stick appeals to me somehow and its less mess/more travel friendly compared to oils or digging fingers in a pot.
ModelCo / MCo Beauty claim on the back of the packaging it has real rose flower water to gently yet powerfully cleanse sensitive skin while protecting against redness and hydrating. Unfortunately it doesn’t work at all for its intended purpose (although it works for another purpose, which I’ll explain later). Its such a thick dry wax it doesn’t spread easily over the face, doesn’t “melt” to an oil, doesn’t emulsify when water added, doesn’t remove makeup, just smears over a thick layer of wax. It then takes alot more cleanser and work to get off all the layer of wax it deposited on skin.
Its not great for sensitive skin as advertised. I don’t know if its the strong scent, or the dyes they used, but it It irritates and itches my face. The scent reminds me of cheap pot pourri toilet spray, or dusty dried old rose petals. I wish it was a more pleasant fresh rose. Contains the dyes Red 21 Lake, Red 27 Lake, and Yellow 5 Lake. Yellow lake is banned in some European countries linked to things like skin irritation, allergies, hyperactivity, and reducing male virility.
Why I gave it 2 stars is it makes a good skin softening hand balm for extremely dry hands, and dry cracked heels at night. I gave it to my friend who gets dry hands as she has to wash her hands alot. She says if she puts a thick layer all over her hands, the moisture lasts through several hand washings and keeps them smooth and soft.
