This stuff is amazing! I have never used a cleanser that took my makeup off as well as this, even my thick full coverage foundation and hard to remove mascara. It instantly melts in your hand and you only need a small amount to remove an entire face of makeup. I use a warm washcloth and it wipes my face completely clean with minimal effort and feels clean and smooth when I’m done. It is my HG cleanser now, I’m in love, and it doesn’t break my oily acne prone skin out at all which is great. The only con is the packaging- I do wish it was available with a pump so that it would be more sanitary but as long as you start with clean hands it isn’t an issue at all.

Wanted to try a water-rinseable cold cream cleansing balm before I shelled out $30 for Clinique’s Take the Day Off balm. I’m a little more than half-way through the jar and I just can’t anymore. The fragrance is too strong and my hypersensitive lips sting from it. It does rinse off but I use it for two-step cleansing, this applied to dry skin, rinsed off with warm water, and then a hypoallergenic liquid cleanser to get off the last traces. I just don’t feel like it gets my skin that clean, and it feels a bit drying to boot (I’m 60, dry/combo skin). If the scent doesn’t put you off it’s a cheaper alternative to the high end cleansing balms and oils.

For a cleansing balm it does the job. It’s inexpensive and effective but the fragrance is very strong which is why I docked 2 lippies from the rating and will prevent me from repurchasing. The balm reminds me a lot of coconut oil in consistency. It takes no effort to turn from balm to oil and I had no trouble removing makeup and sunscreen with this. If fragrance doesn’t bother you, this is a good option.

I started using this about a week ago after seeing some reviews, and so far, I love it! I’ve tried a couple of other balms, including the Ordinary and No7 Radiant Results Nourishing Balm. I really like the Ordinary for travel since it comes in a tube, but didn’t love the No7; I didn’t like that I had to use a washcloth to wipe away the excess and it never seemed to completely wash off–I always felt this residue on my skin even after doing a double cleanse.
The Pond’s balm, though, is the bomb! It gets really oily on the skin when you rub it in, but it dissolves my makeup and mascara so quickly. It also washes off easily and my skin feel really clean once I do the double cleanse. The only thing.I don’t love is the packaging–I think it’ll be hard to get all of the product out near the end.
I’m going to grab another of these next time I’m in the States–it still hasn’t come to Canada. So far, I haven’t noticed any breakouts either and I have oily skin, so that makes me happy.

I was so excited to try this after seeing all the great reviews. However, it did not work for me. I loved the texture, the smell, and it was easy to use. It started as a balm, then turned into an oil, and then a milky cleanser as soon as water was added. It rinsed off clean & easily. I did not ever notice any residue remaining. However, after 3 uses, it broke me out. A lot. Returned it to the store.

This is a good value for the price-comparatively to the other Korean cleansing balms I have tried . It does a fine job of taking the make-up off. As others have mentioned, the fragrance is a bit off putting compared to other balms, but that is minor to the cost savings. You should give this a try– an excellent product and price point.

I’m a fan of double-cleansing so I’m always in the market to try a new balm or oil cleanser. My go to is the Trader Joe’s Cleansing Oil — getting a skincare staple while I’m out picking up my favorite snacks? Yes please! — but I decided to give this one a go. After using up an entire jar (and having purchased my second) over the course of roughly two months, my thoughts:
The consistency of this cleansing balm is a dream: it liquifies almost immediately and spreads over my face really smoothly. I rub gently, particularly around my eyes, and get in the shower, where I wash it off with warm water, followed by whatever cleanser I am using at the moment. My eyes are not blurry and there is no residue or makeup left on my face. I should say that I don’t usually wear waterproof eye makeup, so those who do might find it less to their liking.
Two cons, one more major, one minor:
01) As other reviewers have mentioned, Pond’s Cleansing Balm has a fairly strong scent; it’s not unpleasant to me, but those who are sensitive to fragrance could find it irritating, both in terms of smell and perhaps also skin sensitivity. 02) The packaging is incredibly bulky, which makes it annoying to travel with (unless you’ve scooped some out into a smaller container). Like I said, a minor thing, but something to think about.
The cost at my local Target is $9.99 USD.

I have been using this for the past month or so and am really impressed! Had not tried a balm before this. My normal routine to remove makeup was a wet wipe makeup remover, then Philosophy’s Purity (which I have used for 15 yrs.). Now, when I wear makeup, I use this followed by Purity. My face looks so smooth and almost poreless. I don’t wear makeup every day now but can’t wait to see how this removes the stubborn sunblock I use I the summer.

I have tried plenty of cleansing balms. This one is more suited for oily skin because the emulsifiers (what rinses off the oil) are definitely higher in this formula than others on the market (i.e Clinique Take The Day Off Balm). It did a great job removing all of my make up and didn’t leave a film or residue behind. I have oily skin myself and almost found this one to be stripping, but I’m sure I’ll love it when summer rolls around. It’s pretty low thrill; yet gets the job done.
Now as for the cons… the heavy floral scent immediately hit me. I am not sensitive to smells. But this is STRONG. If your skin is reactive to fragrance, you’re going to be in a world of pain.

I have very oily but dehydrated, acne-prone, aging skin, and I ALWAYS wear a full face of makeup. Cleansing balms scared me for a long time and there was no way I would chance the oil cleansing method.
When I finally took the plunge into double cleansing, it was with the Banila Cleansing Balm with Resveratrol. After getting past the feeling of actually smearing greasy stuff all over my face (!), I discovered that I LOVED it! I did not break out, I didn’t get more oily, and it cleaned my face soooooo well – no more finding traces of mascara or eye liner each morning. The only thing I didn’t like was the price – $20 for a tub that lasted about 2 months. Not terrible, but I am always looking to save money where I can. I tried Albolene, but it never felt like I could rinse it completely off.
Then I heard about this little beauty from Pond’s. At half the price, I was definitely interested. To my delight, I’ve found this to be a decent dupe for Banila. There are three minor differences that I will point out, though.
1 – Pond’s is heavily scented, and to me it smells like old lady. The scent is gone after I cleanse the second time, however.
2 – Banila came with a plastic scoop and a really great little plastic insert that allowed you to store the scoop inside the lid. Luckily, I’ve kept mine and found they fit perfectly inside the Pond’s tub. If not, I would buy a scoop so the product inside doesn’t get gross and you don’t end up with cleansing balm under your nails.
3 – After massaging the Banila balm onto my dry face, I would add a bit of water and it would turn from greasy to almost sudsy-ish. It rinsed clean super easily. Pond’s rinses clean but does take a bit more effort imo. It doesn’t undergo that nice, dramatic transition when you add water like the Banila, which I found very reassuring.
For me, these are not deal breakers and I will continue with this Pond’s cleansing balm until there are more reasonably priced similar products.
