I like the performance of this cleanser, but I don’t know that I would purchase it again. It’s a slightly foamy cleanser that has a gel consistency to start with. I have quite oily skin right now and I find that this cleanser works well for it – it feels very cleansing without making my skin feel dry or stripped afterwards, which is a massive deal for me because most foam cleansers dry my skin out! But if my skin was any drier, I can imagine this feeling quite stripping for my skin (despite the name saying it’s hydrating).
I don’t live in the US or South Korea, which is where these products ship from their official retailer. I have to try extra harder to find a reliable seller, often at an extra $$$ cost. While this cleanser retails for $16USD on their website, it’s much more expensive than that for me. The cleanser does its jobs but to me it’s not much special compared to other great cleansers I’ve tried. And for the price, it’s not something I’d buy again unless it was more convenient for me.

I’ve thought long and hard if I’d post this review, because all the reviews I have read were good ones. Trust me, I really wanted to love this product. I love Liah Yoo and she has helped me clear my skin because of all her tips and advice that’s why I purchased this product, and after hearing all the raves about this product, I decided to give it a try. I had been testing this product for a week now and I don’t think it is meant for me. Everytime I use this product, my nose and chin area and the sides of my mouth feels sensitive and it stings. Most especially when I put my skin care products on 😭
I was using Innisfree Jeju Pore Volcanic Cleanser and although this facial wash gives you a tight feeling after, it never broke my skin barrier the way Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser did.
I’m really sad that this did not work out for me because I really like the brand’s philosophy. Maybe it was just me, or maybe I got a really bad batch (it was mentioned that the pH varies depending on the batch produced) but I have never experienced terrible stinging like this with any other facial wash. I’m so sad. 😞

I finished the whole bottle before doing a review. I have combination oily skin. This cleanser has a jelly consistency which is great for those who has sensitive dry skin. For me this cleanser is too hydrating for the summer/warmer months but for the fall/winter months this is perfect. It does not strip my skin dry while still giving my skin a good clean. It did not break me out.
It took me about 8 months to finish this. A little bit goes a long way. Highly recommend!

I purchased two tubes of this cleanser and a sunscreen from the Krave Beauty website. From my understanding, there are no authorized resellers of Krave Beauty and products can only (usually) be purchased from the actual website. The brand was started by Youtuber Liah Yoo who gained momentum in the beauty community by testing out skincare, reviewing, and also talking about the science behind skincare. She tends to prefer a minimalist approach and talks a lot about respecting the moisture barrier.
This Matcha Hemp Hydrating cleanser comes in a white tube for $16. It is part of the core series in her product line and comes with 120 mL or 4.05 fl. oz. I noticed that you can get free shipping on the website if you purchase $40 worth of products. As of right now, Krave Beauty only ships to the US and South Korea.
My skin is oily, but I like using gentle products that help me retain moisture. It is entirely possible to have oily skin that is dehydrated. A lot of people who have my skintype seem to think that they have to strip their skin and use harsh products to get rid of that shine, but I think using harsh products actually makes it worse. My method of controlling shine is keeping my skin moisturized and balanced. This product is actually an essential part of that. The pH of this cleanser is at a 5.0-6.0, which is ideal for me, and I only use this in the morning. I prefer something a little less gentle at night to clean off sunscreen and makeup.
The texture of this product is quite goopy. Some describe it as snotty, and I can see why. It’s green and sticky, and the scent is pleasant. It’s light and smells like matcha. I believe Krave Beauty has no added fragrance, so what you smell is just how it naturally is supposed to be. I don’t need much product to feel like my face is clean, but it’s not like other cleansers. You’re not going to have that tight feeling whatsoever because it doesn’t lather up that much. I think this is precisely what makes it so good. It takes off nasty things and leaves the good oils on my face. My face feels so plump and looks healthy after using this, and I noticed that my skin really likes this, and it has reduced some redness on my cheeks! I am very happy that I purchased two tubes of this cleanser because it took me a long time to get my hands on this. Krave Beauty doesn’t always have everything in stock and sells out quickly which annoys me. I also hate how there is no international shipping yet because all people should have a chance to experience what a lovely product this is. I am really hoping that Krave Beauty will be sold at either Ulta or Sephora in the near future and also have international shipping.
Overall, this is an HG status morning cleanser for me and has replaced my CosRx one. As I mentioned before, I have an oily skintype. For those of you with dry and sensitive skin, you might love this like crazy because it’s so gentle and hydrating. I highly recommend this.

This cleanser has a nice texture and a refreshing smell. It’s very pleasant to apply first thing in the morning and refreshing to apply it at night! it’s fairly inexpensive, considering one bottle has lasted me over two months and is just starting to run low (and I use it twice daily). This is absolutely my favorite product I’m using right now, and I highly recommend it for oily/combo types like myself. With regular use, it helps balance oil production while keeping skin supple and hydrated.

This cleanser has officially dethroned my Glossier Milky Jelly. It is so gentle and the smell really refreshes me and wakes me up in the morning. I personally struggle a lot with hydration, so I really like that I never get that tight feeling of dryness after washing with this cleanser.

Absolutely in love with this cleanser! It honestly feels like a treat every time I use it. From the jam like texture to the matcha smell, it is the cleanser I most look forward to using.
I’ve been using this every night as my second cleanse and leaves me feeling clean and hydrated without being too stripping. I’ve recommended it to a few friends and they adore it to! Truly a one of a kind product.

Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser is a wonderful cleanser. The formula does wonders for acne-prone skin – it contains no clogging ingredients, the pH is very close to skin’s natural pH (which means it is going to be non-irritating), and yet it removes all the makeup and oil off my face. Recommend it to you all! I am on my second bottle.

This cleanser is great! I have super reactive and sensitive skin as a result of eczema & contact dermatitis – even brands like Cerave and Vanicream irritate my skin. I’ve used this daily for 2 months and have had no problem at all! Will continue to use.

I was really excited to order this since I love Liah Yoo’s Youtube videos, and she started this line. It’s also fragrance-free and full of skin-loving ingredients, but my skin is unfortunately too sensitive to use this. It dried me out too much after one use and caused some dehydration that lasted the rest of the day. This caused my skin to be a bit rough.
This is ph-balanced for skin between 5.0-6.0, so I don’t blame the product. I think it’s really just my skin type. If your barrier is compromised badly or easily messed up, I would be careful about using this.
The texture is a thick gel-type cleanser that smells like matcha tea. It does foam up very little, but I think anything with foam just doesn’t work with my skin well. I still gave this two stars since the ingredients are really impressive and the reviews on her website show it can work well for others.
