Omg ????! What the heck! Ive been looking for a good gentle bar soap for the shower ???? & I bought this one ☝️ to try since ceravae is good drug store brand that’s fragrance free & dermatologist recommended! & I had tried their hydrating cleanser which I enjoyed Bc it was gentle like cetaphil! But anyway imagine my surprise when I opened this bar of soap & got hit with a big waf of fragrance in this ????????????!I cannot believe i let this one slip by me Bc I scrutinize all the ingredients that I buy in all my skincare products! & upon reading ???? reviews of this soap I read a review that this has ethylene brasslate in it which is a musk ! A fragrance! ????Ugh ???? which I’m surprised that ceravae did Bc it’s a fragrance free company! I will still try this in the shower ???? & hopefully the scent dissipates & doesn’t linger around & I won’t get any allergic reaction!

Like most on this site, I have spent major $$$$ on facial care products and make-up. I have continued to struggle w combination skin (acne prone T zone, and jaw line, tight and dry everywhere else) and a major dash of eczema! At 40, I said screw it, I’m going minimalistic. I use Cerave bar soap, Cerave normal moisturizer, rose water as toner and minimal make-up. Seriously the bare minerals tinted moisturizer/SPF 30, setting powder and some mascara. Concealer on a blemish if needed. I threw everything else out. My skin is now freaking amazing! This bar has fixed all of my problems. Cleans and moisturizer and doesn’t irritate. I had an eczema patch on the side of my forehead for two years. After two weeks of just this soap….it is GONE. Periodic pimple or two around “that time” but that’s it. I am in love w this soap and use it on my body and face. I will never go back to anything else.

I never thought I would be able to use a “bar” cleanser, since my skin dries out and gets itchy sooo easily. However, in my quest to find a low-pH body cleanser, the CeraVe bar came up a couple of times. I do think it’s a tad bit drying, but it’s much less drying and irritating than almost all the bodywashes and other bar soaps I’ve tried. I still need lotion, or my skin feels dry to the touch, but I am much less itchy than before. I’ve also noticed that the acne on my back, chest, and shoulders is starting to disappear. I dislike the smell (which is musky with a hint of old cooking oil), so I took one lippie off. I prefer the smell of the Cetaphil bar, but the Cetaphil version is a bit more drying IME. I’m bummed the CeraVe bodywash smells so much like vomit – I would love a liquid version of this soap!

Paid right around $2.75 (with a coupon) & I wish I had picked up more! The bar itself feels a little rough but the lather is milky smooth. It does have a faint musky clean scent that lingers on the skin for a while and I actually enjoy that. It removes all makeup easily and leaves your face feeling clean, smooth and moisturized as it contains Cerave lotion. I apply the lather to my face and let it sit while I’m brushing my teeth because it leaves me extra soft. I normally use gel, cream, or liquid cleansers but this bar is awesome!
I did not experience any irritation from the fragrance or the soap itself. Will repurchase
I freaking love this bar soap!
Update
Picked up 5 more bars since they had a $3 off coupon and it was right around $6 for all 5.
My son who has excema sensitive skin uses this to bathe and it doesn’t cause any flare ups or leave his skin dry.
JANUARY 2019 : I’m still loving this

I’m not a huge fan of using bar soap. I always thought bar soap stripped too much moisture but not this one! I’ve been using the CeraVe foaming facial cleanser for over 5 years and love it but wanted to try something else. I saw the great reviews on here and thought I’d give it a try. Has a clean smell and has not broken me out and I’ve been using it for 3 weeks morning and night! Will be repurchasing!
Little bit about my skin. I have combination oily skin that easily breaks out and is very sensitive. I don’t wear any foundation. I’ve tried so many different brands from store brands to higher end. Everything irritates my skin. My morning routine is to just use CeraVe hydrating cleansing bar, apply Josie Maran oil light, then Laneige balancing emulsion for combo oily skin. I only apply eye makeup. At night, I cleanse with CeraVe again then apply Dermatologica Intensive Moisture balance.

This is my HG cleansing bar. I have combo skin that always is broken out and I haven’t had one breakout in the two months I’ve been using this. I cleanse with it twice, to remove makeup and then clean the skin. I actually love the smell…this is a winner!

I use bar cleansers because I think it’s stupid to essentially pay for the “added” water, plastic and shipping costs for liquid cleansers. This is by far the best cleansing bar I’ve ever used. I take my makeup off with coconut oil and a warm microfiber cloth and then cleanse with this bar. Zero breakouts, zero tightness, always clean. It does have a scent but I actually LOOOOVE it, like the cleanest neutral musk, I guess. Not over powering but present.

This is hydrating. I really disliked it, though, for several reasons:
1.) It causes cystic acne! I’m in my forties, and I haven’t had cysts in years, until I started using this.
2.) It has an irritating scent. (Not emotionally irritating–as in, “It will physically burn your eyes from a foot away if you’re sensitive.”)
3.) It’s trying to combine too many products at once. I use Curology that has Retin-A and azelaic acid in it–and I actually use soap to wash those ingredients out of my eye area. Because this is emollient, it can actually wash irritants into your eyes (and keep them there.)
4.) This is incredibly irritating to eyes. I just spent a scary couple of days irrigating my eyes after using this. It burned them.
So, if you use anti-aging treatments, you’re allergic to scents, or you have sensitive eyes, this is not for you.

Initially I got this to use as a face cleanser because my skin was just so dry, and while it actually helped it also gave me cystic acne. Yeah, that sucked. So it was just sitting there in my shower and I decided that if I was going to spend $7 on *a single bar of soap* (don’t even get me started on that) I wasn’t going to waste it. I used it on my body, and it worked well, but I like fun body wash, you know? So I decided to use it when I shaved my legs and OH MY GOD. Best shaving cream (soap) ever. Never have my legs been silkier or smoother post-shave. I’m still not 100% thrilled with it (mostly because of the price – I mean, wtf? $7? Get over yourself, CeraVe), but I can’t deny it works great in place of shaving cream, either.

My skin is really dry these days and I’ve been experiencing a mysterious rash on my neck. I decided to quit using my Dove bar soap because I suspected it was drying my skin out and/or irritating it with the added perfume and dyes.
I have been looking into Korean skincare, which emphasizes the importance of low-pH cleansers, which help preserve the skin’s natural acid mantle. As someone with sensitive skin, I decided to try low-pH cleansers to see if they’d make a difference. CeraVe is a brand that frequently pops up in the KBeauty world. This bar soap has the ideal 5.5 pH, which matches our skin’s slightly acidic pH level.
It’s a plain white bar with a slight musky fragrance that reminds me of fresh, clean laundry. I love the scent, which does cling to the skin for a few hours after bathing. It doesn’t lather much at all and rinses off cleanly without making skin feel dry and stripped. In fact my skin feels very smooth and slippery, almost as if I’ve applied a moisturizer in the shower. I haven’t experienced any irritation or other adverse reactions to this either.
This costs about double what I’m used to paying for even a nice bar of soap, but I think the price is worth it. You can also download a $2 off coupon from the CeraVe website if you’re thinking about trying this.
