This has a good reputation within s kincare blogs but I don’t see what the fuss is about. Mediocre cleanser which made skin feel dry after use. Not worth the £35 I paid for it!

this is amazing as a second/AM cleanse. so nourishing and feels gorgeous on the skin. emulsifies beautifully.
I know there’s been huge issues with the formula separating so hopefully when it’s re-released this will have been rectified. mine didn’t separate too badly until I got to the final 1/4 of the tube. I did have to cut the tube open to use it all but this is a really great winter cleaner for those with drier skin.

This cleanser is terrible. The packaging is awful. The product actually separates into an oil and then a waxy substance. Awful and expensive. Don’t buy it.

I’m nearly finished with the sample size (1 ounce) of this cleanser that came as part of Sephora’s 500 point perk and thought I’d write a review.
The pros: does anyone else remember Bath and Body Works’ long discontinued Rice Flower and Shea scent? This cleanser smells exactly like that, so it’s a bit of nostalgia for this 90s kid. The texture is also really creamy (but there is a catch).
The mehs: this face was is $36.00 for 4 ounces and does not leave my skin feeling clean. I’m not looking to feel squeaky clean, as the cleansers that do that are way too harsh for my skin, but this one just leaves a bit of a film on top of my skin. It’s not a huge deal as I always tone afterward, but for the price, you know, I’d like to feel clean. It’s a slightly below average cleanser, which for me does not justify its price tag.
The cons: Remember how I said it was really creamy? It’s creamy after you squish the tube around in the shower for ages because this cleanser SEPARATES LIKE NONE OTHER. The first time I used it, it was fine. The second time, an almost clear viscous liquid came out. Confused, I shook the tube and I could HEAR the separated bit rattling around in the tube. So now I have to squash it around in the steam to get that chunk to soften slightly, and even then I’m wasting the clear viscous liquid part of the cleanser because so much of that comes out first. Judging from Sephora’s website, I’m not the only one to have this issue.
Bottom line: I know that Kate Somerville is often praised for her skincare but this cleanser should be reformulated. I would not purchase. For $36.00 (and much, much cheaper, too), there are far better cleansers on the market.

I have a love/hate relationship with this cleanser. I received a small deluxe sample of the cleanser and fell in love with it. I used it as a second cleanse or a morning cleanser, so I can’t speak to how well it removes makeup. Upon dispensing in to the hands, it melted like a traditional balm cleanser would and it emulsified very well. My skin felt thoroughly cleansed, but it never felt tight or dry.
However, when I purchased the full size, I did not have the same pleasant experience. The product separated really badly into an oil and then into a white balm. Because of the tube packaging, it’s very difficult and next to impossible to mix the two back together before dispensing into your hand. More often than not, the oil part comes out and in trying to get some of the white balm out you just get more oil. It’s a wasteful mess. I think they either need to repackage into a jar, in which you’d more easily be able to swirl the two consistencies together again with a spatula, or they need to address this via reformulation.
If the separation issue were to be resolved, I would buy again in a heartbeat as the $36 price tag is actually quite good for the higher-end balm cleanser market. As it is, it’s a reluctant pass.

This product was highly recommended by one of the Sephora Skin Care Reps. She had nearly perfect skin, and so I figured she knew what she was recommending. Unfortunately, the product did not live up to the hype — hers or the one built up by many online folks.
First of all, I must make it clear that my skin has drastically changed since giving birth to my daughter back in November 2014. The nice Mommy glow has since been gone, and I’ve been left with highly sensitive skin (as in can’t touch my face or it gets red, irritated), extremely dry cheeks and chin (possibly from the dry winter weather in DC), and oily forehead and nose. I am in search of a product that will help with the dryness/flaking/irritation and have heard great things about Goat’s Milk products. (I bought this cleanser along with the Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream because I wanted the full effect of the goat milk properties. I will post a review of that one, too. That one was crazy expensive but oh, so worth it.)
Now back to this cleanser…
This product is supposed to “melt” makeup of your face as it’s really an oil-like cleanser (at least that’s what the Sephora gal said). Nowhere does it say that you have to shake/beat the tube to make sure the product is well mixed as it hardens and separates like natural peanut butter does (hardened peanut butter at bottom/oil floating on top). The first few tries only oil squirted out and spilled all over my hands and onto my bathroom sink. Eventually no more oil came out but the tube was still full and heavy. That’s when I noticed the “goat milk” had hardened. I had to bang the tube against the wall to get it to soften. It never quite became soft enough to come out effortlessly from the tube.
1. Does it “melt” even the toughest makeup off your face (eye makeup too)? Yes.
2. Does it help dry/extremely dry skin? Yes.
3. Is it gentle enough for extremely sensitive skin? Y.E.S.!!
4. Would I buy it again? NO!
The product is not crazy expensive moneywise ($36 + tax – at Sephora). But when blobs of hardened product are wasted when trying to squeeze it out of a tube….it becomes crazy expensive.
Needless to say, I returned the product to Sephora after using it for a week. There’s no way this product would’ve lasted the month. I have now been testing out First Aid Milk Oil Conditioning Cleanser. I will post a review in a few days. So far so good.
