Background: hypersensitive dehydrated skin prone to pimples/whiteheads
After reading the awesome reviews on Reddit, was keen to go back to Sulwhasoo. Recalled using their balancing range emulsion in colder & dry climate. Recalled being ok with it. But nothing life changing – it could have contributed to my sensitivity (slightly) as my skin tends to turn slightly red after their range.
I don’t think this cleanses as well or as gently as Eve lom’s cleansing balm. It leaves my skin tingly and red after cleansing. I was hoping my skin could get used to this cleanser but after 3 days of continuous use, I think I’m quite ready to give it up due to the discomfort it brings. Was hoping to find an easier and cheaper alternative to Eve Lom’s regime. But I think I’ll be sticking with my Eve Lom’s cleansing balm for now.

It’s nice, but not $36 a bottle nice.
My skin type is combination to oily and often dehydrated. My face gets quite dirty during the day as I live in a hot and humid tropical climate. I’m prone to clogged pores, which are also classified as whiteheads and or comedonal acne.
Good points: It has a pH of 5.5 which is considered beneficial for the skin. It’s quite gentle. The fragrance is herbal and lovely. The cleanser produces a lot of foam for a formulation that doesn’t have a pH over 5.5. It’s not stripping at all and the texture is slippy and nice.
Meh points: For my preferences this cleanser doesn’t remove enough surface ‘gunk’, so to speak, to warrant re-purchasing. Even as a morning cleanser I start to feel a little too moisturized during the day which sort of defeats the point of an effective cleanser. Forget about using this to remove makeup in the first place, it’s not even that effective for the *second* step of the double cleansing method. I’d have to use a Clarisonic in conjunction with this cleanser if I truly wanted to get rid of /all/ the dirt and sunscreen from my pores at the end of the day.
I would recommend this cleanser if you enjoy herbal scents (which are typical of Sulwhasoo formulations), have dry skin, and are looking for a morning cleanse. I would definitely skip if you’re looking for something with more cleansing effectiveness.

This is better than average cleansers. But it is also pricier than many cleansers. It is really gentle. It has a citrusy herbal smell and lathers well. It brightens my face temporarily, but can be slightly drying sometimes. Will not repurchase though, because i rather spend more money on something that i can leave on my skin for a longer time.

This foam works fantastic. It is light, cleanses skin in a gentle yet efficient way. Make-up is removed very easily. My (very sensitive!) skin feels supersoft and hydrated after using this.
Two negative things though:
1) the smell is awful (smells like mosquito milk, what I truly hate),
2) do not use it near the eyes cause it stings like crazy.
Hence one lippie off.

Really didn’t like this cleaning foam at all. It foamed up really well and was luxuriously creamy, but left a horrible waxy film on my skin. Thank goodness I didn’t buy a full size and was only trying a sample of it.

This product was just okay. Not as wonderful/effective as the cleansing cream and it does seem over drying after wash. Like other reviewers mentioned, this is exactly like another shiseido foaming cleanser with half the price. I was disappointed that this didn’t work out as well especially for that price.

Ouch, my eyes! This cleanser should come with a warning to avoid contact with eyes. I had a bad makeup day and needed to start from scratch so I washed off my makeup with this cleanser. I usually double cleanse, but I was testing the effectiveness of this cleanser and it fell short. I had to start over and use an oil cleanser, my regular facial cleanser, and an eye makeup remover to finish the job of removing my makeup. I got some of the CDP cleanser in my eye and it was watering and red for a good 2 hours afterward.
I’ve used this cleanser on occasion in an effort to give it a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th chance, but it doesn’t like my skin. I have mildly sensitive combination skin and this cleanser has caused mild breakouts on my chin. Also the scent is too perfumey for my liking. It reminds me of Shiseido’s Benefiance line or the White Lucent line which also do not work for me. The only Shiseido line that worked for me when I was younger was the Pureness line.
I wish it worked as well for me as it did for others, but alas it did not. Looks like my mom will be getting this cleanser because she’s got tough skin and sometimes uses hotel provided bar soap on her face.

OMG! This cleanser is amazing. I have oily/ combination sensitive skin that is prone to acne and allergy, and tends to turn red whenever I wash it with a cleanser. With Cle de Peau’s cleansing foam, this never happened! My face was fair, clear, calm and smooth afterwards. Definitely a HG product. I have been using Clarins all along, but I am switching to CDP for now. By the way, I did not get the filmy feeling, as some of the reviews mentioned, and I find the fragrance so-so. But the effect on the skin … thumbs up!

My HG cleanser! I have combination/oily, clog-prone, and easily dehydrated skin. I’ve tried numerous foaming cleansers by Shiseido, Chanel, Lancome, but they all were too stripping for my skin. I’ve had luck with CeraVe Foaming Wash, but I admit that I prefer a cleanser that has that luxurious, foaming texture that you typically find with higher-end Japanese brands. Cle de Peau lathers up very nicely, and leaves your skin feeling refreshed, silky, and not the least bit dried out. It does leave a bit of a film on the skin as you are rinsing, but once my skin is dry, you can’t feel it anymore. Just smooth and supple skin. Yes it is pricey but I haven’t found a comparable cleanser!

OMG accidentally bought this instead of the cleansing cream, WORST face wash ever!!! You know that bar soap that leaves your skin feeling like it has a waxy film on it? That’s this, except SUPER expensive! Save the money and buy the cheapest crappiest bar soap and wipe that on your face, EWW!

hmmm im in big trouble. i knew i shouldnt have bought this cleanser lest i become addicted to it. now i don’t want to use anything else!!
thankfully, only a tiny amount (about a pea size) is required to produce the most luxurious lather ive ever experienced in a face cleanser. i used to have acne, but since i was on accutane about 2 yrs ago, my skin has become very very dry. i find that most dry skin cleansers leave a film over my face, so it doesnt feel entirely clean. CDP’s cleanser leaves my skin squeaky clean!! with no tightness at all! it’s also got a nice pleasant scent. it’s pretty much everything i’ve ever wanted in a cleanser, except the price.
