I’ve been using this for a few days now, and I really, really like it.
In the past, I used Lush’ Aqua Marina as a cleanser which was nice (though a bit drying), but since I forgot mine while I was on vacation, I wanted to give this a shot. I’m in love!! It leaves my skin super soft, it’s not drying at all and doesn’t leave a film either. It smells softly like coconut – I’m not a coconut fan, but it’s not too noticeable. I was worried it wouldn’t clean enough since you use so little, but I was wrong. My skin doesn’t feel clogged at all afterward and just… fresh. The price is a little up there, but the bar is pretty damn big for how little you need, so I think I will be able to use it for a long time which doesn’t make the price too bad.
How I use it: I take my little piece (I have cut off a little piece of the bar and save the rest in a drawer, which keeps it from getting too wet) and lather it between my fingers. I rub this over my face et voila! A baby soft clean face! (I don’t use this to remove makeup, I just a microfiber cloth for that, so I don’t know how it does in that regard).
I love that it’s zero waste and that there’s no palm oil or animal-derived ingredients. If you’re looking for a good zero-waste, sustainable cleanser (or just a good cleanser for dry skin in general) I highly recommend this! I got mine at Holland & Barrett in the Netherlands.
PRO:
– Doesn’t dry out your skin
– Leaves skin very soft
– No residue afterward
– Zero waste
– Vegan
– Easy to travel with: just cut off a piece!
– No palm oil
– You get a lot for your money
– No strong scent
CONS:
– Not super affordable (though it will last a long time)
– You might need the (compostable) container they sell if you keep it in a humid environment

As a step towards reducing waste, I converted to using this cleanser bar instead of my usual cleanser. It comes as a hard square bar and the packaging is a compostable cardboard box.
It’s easy to use, effective and non-drying. It does become quite soft and needs to be protected from water spray. I have the matching Ethique soap holder which is great for protecting the bar whilst letting it dry.
While the bars are expensive they do last quite a while approx. 4 months for me with use twice a day.
