Bought the Citrus Extract version for $3 at K-Mart, hoping this inexpensive cleanser would turn out to be an unexpected gem, kind of like their acne pads that are a cult favorite. Instead, it was a nightmare.
Yeah it has salicylic acid, but the formula is so irritating that you end up getting paradoxical breakouts due to skin trying to soothe the face with its own oils. Citrus extracts, menthol, fragrance, and the maximum amount of OTC salicylic acid all combine to form a product that dries out skin. I know that it’s far more effective to use salicylic acid pads instead of cleansers for acne because the actives stay on skin longer, but I’ve used cleansers with 2% salicylic acid before, and they weren’t nearly as irritating as this one, and some I find even help my skin more than a so-called bland cleanser. So it’s not the salicylic acid in this alone that’s the problem, it’s that everything else in here causes the skin to react.
This product damaged my acid mantle significantly, and I stupidly ignored the signs until it was too late. I have a lot of scarring from the breakouts, and I’m only just starting to get rid of it. There are medicated cleansers that do a better job than this: the Dollar Tree knock off of the Neutrogena Deep Clean cleanser, St. Ives Green Tea cleanser, L’Oreal’s 360 Clean in the orange bottle (smells like aftershave, though), and my personal (and probably discontinued) favorite–the Clearasil Superfruit cleanser. And there are tons of non-medicated cleansers that treat the skin well: Neutrogena’s Fresh Foaming face wash, Clean & Clear’s sensitive skin foaming cleanser, and even Purpose cleanser.
If you value your skin’s health, stay away from this bottled garbage.

This is an update from my previous review below. I have only been using this product but it has made my oily skin FLAKEY, IRRITATED and DRY. My entire face is irritated and feeling extremely dry. I’m tossing this piece of garbage. Would not recommend buying for people with all skin types. My skin has never reacted this way to any facial product.

Yuck. One of the worst cleansers I have ever tried, and I have probably used most of the options from the drug store brands on the market (Neutrogena, Clearasil, Clean & Clear, Dove, Olay, etc.). I bought this because the Walmart shelves were pretty empty, and out of most of my favorites. This is a runny, milky liquid, despite being in a squeeze tube. I was expecting a thicker texture. Sorry, it just looks gross. The scent is *very* strong and not pleasant to my nose (some combination of perfume and chemicals). It also didn’t foam/suds well. All in all, this was a total bust. Usually I will use up a product I don’t like, but after 4 uses, this was tossed when I finally got a replacement! US$4.89 for 6.5 oz (25% bonus size)

I discovered this product by accident since a bottle of it was left in my shower at home. I have to say that I am seriously impressed. I’ve been battling terrible adult acne for the last few years with copious amounts of benzoyl peroxide cream and several salicylic acid face washes. Within a few days of trying this face wash, my skin was in better shape than it has been for a very long time. I have some cystic acne that has stuck around for over a month after trying an awful concealer, and I’m happy to say that this face wash seems to be slowly helping. I haven’t had an active pimple or blackhead (except the cystic stuff) since I started using this. If BP isn’t working, I would highly recommend trying this. I use Stridex sensitive face wipes in the morning and night, and Oxy face wash and BP cream at night, and it seems to be the right combination. My skin hasn’t felt this smooth and clear in ten years!

Overall, not a good product. It’s ineffective.
