I loved this in the all the other versions – blue, pink, yellow.
Resveratrol is more for oily skin. I have combination skin. I felt that it was a little bit on the drier side compared to the pink version. And it doesnt remove makeup as well as the pink version, even though both are great. Removes makeup really well and melts into your skin. Doesnt irritate. I use it in the shower and wash it off with warm water. Very convenient and easy.

Full disclosure, this is the first cleansing balm I’ve tried. I have oily, acne-prone skin and the idea of slathering a greasy product around on my face frankly made me break out in a cold sweat. However, I am easing into the Korean 10-step skincare routine, which begins with double-cleansing. Also, this is the year (drum roll) that I WILL get serious about regularly wearing broad-spectrum sunblock on my face. I have heard so many oily girls rave about how it takes an oily product to remove excess sebum and balance the skin, blah blah blah. Figured I’d give it a shot.
The plan is to try this product and use the normal-to-oily Cerave facial cleanser as my second cleanser, since I already know that my skin can tolerate the Cerave. If I have a reaction, good or bad, I want to know which product it should be attributed to.
Had to order the Clean It balm off of amazon, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Arrived in a very solid and attractive tub with a free little cosmetic spatula and holder, which was a nice surprise. I don’t normally use stuff in tubs bc my nails are longer and the bacteria hiding under nails – even when you’re very attentive – skeeves me out. Saw the YouTubers using these little spatulas to get product out of jars and deposit on the back of their hands which they would then apply to their faces, so that’s the route I went.
This is a solid balm that quickly turns to a liquid form from just the heat of your skin. It was SOOO greasy… I imagine most balm cleansers are, so that’s probably normal. I didn’t enjoy it, being used to using a micellar water to remove my eye makeup. However, I will agree that the Clean It balm rinses cleanly – after removing with a damp washcloth I did not feel that I had any residue left on my face. I followed up with a quick wash with the Cerave and continued with my regular routine.
It’s still early days yet, but my initial reaction is surprise. I expected this cleanser to remove my makeup, especially since I don’t wear waterproof mascara, and it did. It did seem to dry out my skin and make it feel a smidge uncomfortable, though. Which is new – I don’t have reactive skin that gets irritated by much. My skin is not red, but it feels just a bit sore-ish. I had to apply two different light moisturizers last night so that I didn’t feel all dried out, too. On the positive side, I don’t believe there are any new blemishes on my skin.
I am still on the fence about this product. I’m definitely going to have to give it more time to see how things go, and will update this rambling monologue after a bit longer. 🙂
Update 1/19/2018: I’ve become more of a fan over the past week or two. This is NOT breaking me out or making me more oily, which is so surprising to me! I feel like my skin gets so much cleaner now that I’m using this and following up with the Cerave face wash. It doesn’t feel tight or stripped, just clean. (I tracked back the irritation I was experiencing to be due to using the Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid every night.) I bumped up my rating to 4 stars, but still can’t give it 5 stars because it doesn’t work as well as micellar water at removing non-waterproof mascara.
Update 6/18/2018: I’m hooked. I hate the price of this and the fact that I have to buy it online, but I have bought my second tub bc it’s SO GOOD. I tried using Albolene as a cheaper alternative, and while that wasn’t terrible, it won’t work for summer. Albolene doesn’t rinse cleanly like Clean It Zero does! In the cold and dry months that isn’t as big of a deal, but my skin is not happy with extra moisture residue after cleansing during the hot and humid season. I’m still hoping to find something else that is just as effective but cheaper and easier to get, but this is a must-have for me!
