I can not believe that after all my years of searching that I have found a cleanser that works. Time after time I will go back to this one. I have tried inexpensive to pricey, popular to cult, but I will always repurchase this formula. I have tried the Oil-Free Gel Cleanser and it works well, but does not feel like it melts oil away like Clarifying formula. Also, this particular formula doesn’t strip the skin, nor leave a residue like other cleansers I have tried. This may be an odd observation, but if I do have a spot, it seems to lessen in size each time I wash. Just like magic.
A tube of this will last a year or so, warranting the price. All that is needed is a small to medium sized pearl. There is a slight medicinal scent, but it is negligible. The clear green gel foams well, those who like suds. I know everyone’s skin likes different things, but I highly recommend this to those who are oily/combo. I have done two decades worth of trials for you, give this a shot if your cleanser isn’t doing it for you.

This product ruined my skin for a good two weeks. I used to because I ran out of my normal cleanser and I had this one laying around from a value pack I received.
I thought this would be okay for oily skin and I wish I kept the box to go through the ingredient list a little further (which I was unable to find online), but this may contain alcohol if I’m not mistaken. This made it incredibly dry around the lower half of my face that it was almost impossible to alleviate the dry skin. Also, don’t be fooled by the whole 2% Salicylic acid in this product. Exfoliants added such as those usually go right down the sink and therefore don’t provide much of a benefit whatsoever.
Overall verdict: stay away from this product with a 10 foot pole if you have oily skin. I can’t recommend anything else just because I don’t know how other skin types will react.

I love this cleanser.
It is not scented (at least I don’t detect any).
It lathers, but not heavily.
After washing, my face feels almost as though I have already patted it dry; it does not leave a hint of residue, but does not leave my face *squeaky* clean, either; just clean and smooth.
It removes eye makeup (I’m usually so tired by bedtime I’ve never used a separate makeup remover) but does not irritate my eyes.
I recently started using this cleanser after stopping for a while, because I was sure I could find something just as good and less expensive. During this time I had some breakouts, and this has already started to minimize them.
I pay around $28 with tax at Shopper’s Drug Mart in Canada.

I bought this when my usual Avene Cleanance was sold out, thinking it would do the trick. I’ve had great luck with other Neostrata products. I have a long standing sensitivity to SLS and (SLES to a lesser extent), in that it causes dermatitis, itchy skin/scalp, papular rash and in toothpaste, canker sores. I sadly realisized after 2 months of using this, and seeing a new rash of papules in places I never get acne anymore, that this cleanser was likely the culprit, specifically I’m guessing, the ammonium laureth sulphate in this, since I’ve been using AHA and BHA products with no issue for years (so I doubt there was a purge happening). Having said this, I found the cleanser to be economical as you don’t need to use much, and I also got a 250 mL bottle for the price of the 125 mL (about 24 bucks CDN). Had this product worked for me, I wouldn’t have minded the price for the 125 mL. I like that it’s in a tube bottle, so no issues with packaging. It did help with blackheads and congestion, but ultimately for me, I think I have to pass on products with sulphates as the main surfectant. Within 2 days of stopping use, my skin cleared up and calmed down.
While I would recommend this to folks who have no issues with sulphates, I would also recommend to anyone who has blemish issues that are not hormonal, and can’t be pinned down to a single source, to try eliminating sulphate containing cleansers for a week to see what happens. I can’t believe it took me so many years to figure this out for my own skin.

I love Neostrata and I had tried the oil free cleanser before but this one is worlds better! It lathers better and removes makeup MUCH better. There was barely any makeup on the pad with toner after cleansing.

Active ingredient: 2% salicylic acid.
I highly reccommend this cleanser if you’re plagued with hormonal acne and have been struggling to find an effective cleanser.
This cleanser doesn’t irritate or dry out the skin. The salicylic acid is excellent for acne, and it’s also a very mild exfoliant so it helps the product work deeper.
Neostrata is an excellent Canadian brand.

Contains 2% Salicylic Acid and ideal for acne-prone skin, dilated pores & blackheads.
I have normal-to-dry skin that dries easily(with heat, benzoyl peroxide and the saly-acid) and I’m prone to hormonal acne which easily scars plus blackheads & large pores.
150mL for $27 CAD is good deal for quality skincare IMO.
I’ve had blackheads on my nose for 8 years. In a month, this cleanser has managed to fade/make them smaller and prevented new ones (which were starting to appear on the sides of my nose before this) from appearing anywhere else. The blackheads under my lip are hardly noticeable. Less pimples during breakouts & is Keeping my pores clean!
Now the thing with acne products is that they easily dry out my skin. This cleanser does slightly dry my skin, so somedays I’ll wash with this once daily instead of twice and it’s fixable with good moisturizer. I love that this thing doesn’t suds/bubble like crazy because that’s an indication that the ingredient that does this will dry out your skin which is why I can use it without ill effect.
Considering you should test-drive skin care for 1-3 months, I’m still crossing my fingers for more magic. But I love this!
