This is the most effective cleanser for my sensitive, rosacea-prone skin that I have used! I love the way it quickly melts with light finger massage over my face and neck—a little goes a long way! To rinse it off, I fold a Norwex microfibre facecloth in quarters, lie it in the palm of my hand and while bent over my sink basin, I splash tepid running water several times à la methode Erno Laszlo, and then use the Norwex cloth to wipe around my nose and chin! Et voilà, no residue or film in eyes, just soft, dewy skin, much younger than my 66 years of age would warrant, I follow with my Bye Bye Anti-Redness Relief Treatment Cream. I also sometimes also apply Stieva-A prescription cream or Noritate (metronidazole) prescription cream to certain areas near nose and chin.
This works better for me than the Clinique anti-redness cleanser, in that it removed my makeup easier and more thoroughly using my Erno Laszlo method!

I have been trying to get this product for quite a while, well I finally find it for a easy $35 and this was for the large jar and it was on sale. I was so excited about buying it, the packaging was very nice, the price was good for a large jar! When I finally used the balm, it was so nice, soft and melted very quick, I enjoyed that about the product. Let me tell you, if you are a person that wears deep pink or red llipstick this won’t work 100% for you. It took of all my eye liner and mascara off, but the lipstick, which I wear a deep pink didn’t go too well at all. I had to rinse this one off and use another one to completely get it off, very disappointed indeed! It’s ok and cool to get makeup off, but if you are into red or pink you should scrub your lips before you remove it with this. I only gave this one 3 stars because of that, but if this is not your problem, this is a great product.

I’ve repurchased this several times. I have dry, sensitive skin, and I tend to like cleansing balms in general. This is my current favorite. As others have said, this is very similar to Clinique’s Take the Day Off, but this is cruelty free and Clinique is not, at least at the time I’m writing this. This doesn’t sting my skin or cause breakouts, leaves my skin clean but not dry, and is good at removing makeup (including eye makeup, but be sure to wipe all of this away from the eye area thoroughly or it will get in your eyes and then it’s hard to rinse out). This does have a citrus scent and while I wish it was unscented, it’s not a bad smell and it doesn’t seem to irritate my skin. Travel friendly (I sometimes de-pot it into travel size tubs) and spillproof.

I always double cleanse. I use a cleansing balm (or oil) first and then a non-foaming cleanser. This product is very, very similar to Cliniques “Take off the Day” cleansing balm. They will both leave a film in your eyes when washing off eye makeup (“It” brand seems worse.) They both seem to feel the exact same way when rubbing on and washing off. The big difference is the “It” brand starts out smelling delicious with a nice, faint citrus smell but quickly turns rancid & smells like oil that’s gone off. Clinique has no scent but it will also turn rancid smelling (so I keep my backup in the refrigerator. So many gift with purchase incentives!) The “It” brand has clunky, way too over-sized packaging for the amount of product inside & is over-priced for the amount you get (versus Clinique.) Something to note…I’ve come to the conclusion through process of elimination, that the “It” cleansing balm causes me to have minor breakouts (so I am not using it anymore.) And I do not struggle with acne at my age. Lastly, I am no longer buying either of these since finding the Korean brand, Heimish, All Clean Balm which I prefer in all ways to either of these.

After using Clinique’s balm I found I prefer makeup removers in this form versus an oil form. I got this as part of a 5 piece kit from QVC. The container is HUGE, but the actual weight of the product is less than that of Clinique’s balm. 2.8 oz for $38 versus 4.2 for $29 – clearly the Clinique balm is a better value, which is the main reason why I knocked off a lippie.
As for the product itself, I really like it. It’s light and airy with a very faint citrus scent. It removes everything with ease and the best part is it doesn’t leave a film on my eyes after thorough rinsing. I notice less makeup on my Mia after the 2nd cleanse so this definitely removes makeup thoroughly. So far no breakouts and my skin itself is more moisturized. I like the consistency of the balm – it’s more of a whipped feel so that’s likely why the container itself is larger but there isn’t as much product as Clinique.
While it is a bit more than Clinique’s balm, I can see myself repurchasing this as I find it outperforms Clinique’s version by just a bit.

I got this for cheap on eBay, I tried it, it is ok, it does the job, I find the texture a bit thick, and it doesn’t rinse off very easily..but it does remove all makeup without irritating the skin,..but I have tried other cleansing balms I like better, my top being the ole henricksen melting gelée
This is ok for me, I don’t like the texture, and the smell isn’t my favorite…it is very similar to the Clinique take the day off…but the Clinique seemed less thick…just didn’t think it was a great product .

Summary: 2.5 rounded up to 3. Effective at removing makeup and leaves skin soft, but stings eyes and residue is hard to remove from them. There are cleaner options for packaging, especially at this price point.
A Sephora rep, in a first round of developing a skin care regimen, gave me a sample of this to use as a cleanser for my rosacea prone, sensitive, combination skin. As I was moving to daily physical-barrier sunscreen blended with CoverFX drops and using mascara, I would need an effective cleanser.
Use: The balm does melt when massaged onto skin, and has a fragrance that almost struck me as the smell of baby aspirin.
Effectiveness: It easily removes foundation makeup. It removes traditional mascara and lipstick stain/bleed. I didn’t try waterproof makeup.
Problems: The residue. Good grief, the residue. Oil-based residue on dry skin is probably ok, and does give skin a supple, soft finish. But your eyes! Your eyes will not thank you for the residue. First, it stings, but then you’re left with a film that is just about impossible to remove, even overnight.

This smells like old gasoline from a can. It takes all your makeup off but the film it leaves in your eyes is hard to get out and the smell is horrible. Never would I buy this again NEVER

I’m torn about this product. Love the job it does of taking off makeup but hate the film it leaves and packaging. This is a big jar of waxy cleanser. You just wipe a little on your face to erase all makeup.

As much as this product works, I wouldn’t repurchase. Hate the film on my pupils. But it does work.
Update this product started to smell bad within a few months. Would not repurchase.

I have been using IT Cosmetics for a few years now, and like any line of cosmetics there are hits and misses. I had been using a sample of Clinique’s Take Off the Day Cleansing Balm and considering buying a full size of it. I had recently watched QVC and a demonstration of the IT cleansing balm and was impressed how easily ALL her makeup was removed. Now one thing that I had found, is that I still needed another cleanser after using Clinique’s, which is one of the reason’s IT’s balm kept my attention. You don’t need any follow up cleanser or toner to remove any residue.
One thing I hate about both is the high price tag. I have been using Jojoba oil for 15 years now to remove eye makeup, and then the entire face, along with a cleanser afterwards. Even with using Jojoba oil and a gentle drugstore cleanser, it Is cheaper than either of the balms. I guess what kept me watching the QVC promo on it was the fact that you didn’t need to use another cleanser afterwards and it also removed mascara.
I ended up buying it off QVC a week later, as our Ulta store doesn’t sell the balm. It comes in a cheap plastic jar, but that doesn’t bother me. I must say that a small amount does “melt” off all my makeup. All you really need to do is wash the makeup off with some water. A light milky film forms and you can wash it away. My face is left to feel soft, not oily or stripped from any ingredients. You are ready for moisturizer if you need it.
I am on the fence about buying it again, but only due to the price. With using two products to wash away my makeup, I still don’t come near the $38 price tag. If it weren’t for the high price I might use it only going forward.
