For me this was a standard micellar water. It removed most of my makeup fairly well, including waterproof mascara and it didn’t leave any noticeable residue on my face after use. However, other than having the added ingredient of pro-vitamin B5, I’m not really sure why this is aimed at those with mature and/or sensitive skin. It definitely didn’t break me out or make my skin react badly, but neither did it do anything that a regular micellar water can’t do. It’s also more expensive than other micellar waters in the L’Oreal range, all of which perform in exactly the same way.

The only micellar water I have been able to use that didn’t sting, burn, break me out, dry out my skin and it actually removes make up! I thought micellar waters were simply incompatible with my skin until trying this one. The pink garnier version stung my skin and dried it out and Sensibio’s version has capric/caprylic triglyceride which gives me cystic acne (it’s a form of coconut oil). I have rosacea and acne and get seb derm flare ups if I over do oily products. This, however, doesn’t trigger any of those conditions. It is soothing, non-drying, and very effective at removing heavy duty full coverage mineral makeup which is all I ask of it. I don’t use this as my only cleanser as it does leave a slight residue that is mildly moisturizing- no breakouts but I don’t want it to accumulate over time. The bottle is a huge 400ml, readily available in high street shops and supermarkets, and usually less than £5. Fantastic!

L’Oreal Age Perfect Micellar Water for Mature Skin. (Gold cap) 400ml for £3 – £6 depending on deals.
I use micellar water as a AM 1st cleanse and a PM 2nd cleanse. I have transferred to a foam pump bottle and use it as a face wash, whereby I rinse with water.
This is so gentle, doesn’t sting my eyes and my skin is not stripped afterward. I wear water resistant SS and base makeup most days, so using this micellar water on its own is not enough. Unless I use plenty of product and cotton rounds, which I have reusable cotton rounds and I don’t want the extra laundry frankly.
It has glycerin, panthenol, allantoin and hydronated castor oil, otherwise it has the same base ingredients as Garnier Pink Cap, which I find is a little drying in comparison. Both are fragerance free.
The negative is that it isn’t cruelty free as I don’t go out of my way for cruel products. However my skin sensitivities and wallet also strong influencers.
400ml would last me approx 4mths of use, but my 10yo son has also been using it. I RP today as I had only a few uses left.
Just because it says mature skin I would ignore, unless you have mature skin. The packaging is great but the whole in the cap can make you use more product than you need. Huge bottle though.
I live in hard water London UK and my skin type is Normal to Oily (it is in the 20’s C regularly recently); prone to dehydration and acne; sensitive to certain ingredients and/or formulations.
