This cleanser comes as a complete surprise as I never thought I’d enjoy any cleanser other than a foaming soap type. And while foaming cleansers are too drying, other cream cleansers make me feel I must wash off residue. This cleanser has the best of both worlds… retains the natural moisture barrier as well as giving a thorough cleansing. I can’t give 5 stars since I find the smell a bit off-putting. The lavender gives a spa aspect, but I also sense an underlying old oil smell that is not inviting.

I was given a sample of this at Blue Mercury. I think Estée Lauder and Clinique may be owned by the same company, so I figured these would be pretty much the same…only with the EL one being pricier, and in fancier packaging. I was wrong. The Estée Lauder one is much nicer, less waxy, and didn’t fog up my eyes like the Clinique Take the Day Off does. It has a lighter weight, much more elegant, silky formula, and felt much better on my skin. Removed heavy eye makeup completely, and rinsed off nicely.
The only two negatives are that it contains fragrance – though it didn’t cause me any irritation – and that it is $47, which is ridiculous. I probably won’t be buying it due to the high price, but if you don’t mind spending that much, it really is a nice cleansing balm.

This is the first cleansing balm I have ever used, now I always do my nightly cleansing with a balm and a gentle soap. This balm is very nice and effective. It removes all of my makeup and leaves my skin clean and soft. I’ve purchased this balm 3 times and I think Estée Lauder is a reliable brand that puts out good products. The base formula is nearly the same as another less expensive brand ( which is owned by Estée Lauder) but this balm has additional botanicals that I think make a difference. The only issue I have is the amount of product you get for the price, the size of the jar is misleading. Other than that, I highly recommend it.

This is just as effective as the Clinique balm, albeit a slightly softer formula and slightly easier to wash off. These differences are pretty negligible however and do not make it worth the extra 60% or so in price. Just get the Clinique one, it’s a smarter choice.

Great effective product, it does work and it melts once on your face. I would use it right before your shower as you do want to rinse with water afterwards.
However, it’s horrible to use to remove eye makeup. It gets into my eyes and the next two hours my vision is blurry.
Beautiful packaging with matte plastic and gold cap.

Amaaaazing product! After I emptied my Clinique take the day off balm, I decided to rebuy it when I got a text from Douglas saying they go on sale. But unfortunately, they no longer sold Clinique’s balm, so I asked for a similar product. Even though this costs almost double, I decided to buy it as a present for me (splurging is healthy haha). And oh boy, I’m so glad I did! Feels slightly smoother than the previously mentioned, a little goes a long way, it rinses off really easily. It is not too thick too rinse off as someone wrote, a cleansing balm should normally transform into a milky liquid in contact with water. It doesn’t strip all of the moisture off my face and I’m so so happy with it. It didn’t even break out my sensitive skin! I always double cleanse, so after this I use the cleansing cream from La Roche Posay, they do a wonderful job together. Of course there are cheaper options, this particular product is not a must, but balms became my favorite way to take off makeup, so I can honestly say this is a great one! Too bad for the price, but we all know Estee Lauder…

I received a sample of this cleanser. Instructions say to use it as a makeup remover and to rinse off. It’s very thick but easy to apply. It seemed too thick to rinse off, so I used a tissue, followed by a toner on a cotton pad. This worked well to remove my makeup. However, I prefer to use my liquid makeup remover with a cotton pad because it’s easier to use and works faster.

Cleansing oil is something that I have been a fan of for a long time. But this Estee Lauder micro cleansing balm has taken the cleansing oil into a whole new level. This is basically a cleansing oil in a form of a balm. It does melt nicely as you start applying it into your skin. A little goes along the way. I apply foundation every single day and with a small amount it removes all traces of makeup and leave my skin clean. It has no smell whatsoever which how I prefer my cleanser should be. Definitely worth the price.

Well, I try to imagine why Estee Lauder’s website has plenty of good reviews about this balm, but I can’t figure it out.
1. It has texture of frozen coconut oil mixed with wax.
2. It’s not easy to take it out of can in the desired quantity.
3. It doesn’t melt. I have impression that I rub oily wax on my face.
4. It cleans noting (I only wear a light foundation and bit of mascara)
5. But the worst think, that it leaves oily layer on my skin.
P.S. I’m Estee Lauder addicted, but this thing is just awful for my sensitive and dehydrated skin.
