I bought this when it was only about 5 bucks. At first I didn’t ‘feel’ it working..WELL this is the most gentle cleanser yet effective. It did not dry out my skin. It didn’t make me skin peel like most acne cleansers. After a few weeks, I saw my skin not as red. Then a few more weeks, my skin didn’t have active pimples anymore. I know it’s this cleanser because it was the only thing I changed in my skincare routine. It’s very very gentle. It is a thick gel, but lathers up beautifully. I recommend this to everyone who’s dealing with acne. I had moderate-severe acne where my whole face was red and had so many pimples…and this stuff calmed it down a lot. Follow it with the Zapzyt acne cream treatment and, VOILA. No..not sponsored. Just a satisfied person who used this stuff since it was so affordable. Unfortunately, my Walmart doesn’t sell the cleanser anymore..

I’ve had acne since around 12 years old. Literally nothing I used cleared it up or it made my skin very dry. I decided to try a brand I never heard of; discovered this product a year or 2 ago. It cleared my skin up within weeks. I figured out what works for my acne is benzoyl peroxide. I would get pimples on my chin, forehead, and along my jawline, after I started using this I didn’t get them anymore.
Since I ran out of the product, I’ve been using another that contains a lesser percent of benzoyl, but it doesn’t compare to Zapzyt. (The gel isn’t sold in stores here anymore.) Since then my skin breaks out here and there.

Update: We have been using this now for over 4 months. My dd skin remains 99% clear when she uses this. It is excellent. She follows this wash with her BP lotion and Olay Sensitive spf 15 moisturizer.
I have been trying to improve my 11 y/o dd’s acne for nearly a year. I searched up reviews and found Zapzyt cleanser: I got it at drugstore.com but Walgreens lists it too. And it is dirt cheap. I tried it based on the reviews and the lack of typical detergents.
Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid (2%)
Inactive Ingredients: Water (Purified), Disodium EDTA, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Gel, Bioterge AS 40, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glucamate Doe 120, Glydant, Sodium Chloride
It has very few ingredients and does not have the typical sulfate cleansers – the surfactant in it is Bioterge AS 40 (Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate) and it contains some salicylic acid however we have used SA before in cleanser and topical with no effect. She has been using this only a week and her skin is dramatically clearer. Nothing else was changed. It is a little more drying than other cleansers she has used but she just applies her moisturizer. She also follows the cleanser with her usual BP from Acne-Free (about 4%). Great stuff.

I really wanted this to work. It’s very difficult to find an unscented, “clean” formula of 2% salicylic acid that works on my skin — unfortunately, this wasn’t the one. It’s a nice cleanser with good ingredients, just didn’t do the trick for my acne-prone skin.

can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this. This stuff has been my holy grail face wash for years. 3 or 4, maybe? I will never use another. My skin prefers salicylic acid rather than benzoyl peroxide. It can be drying for someone who has normal skin, and if you have dry skin, don’t come near this stuff. However, for my oily acne prone skin it works wonders at clearing it out. It doesn’t dry me out because I only use this once a day. I don’t know what would happen to my skin if I used it twice a day. I find this cleanses effectively enough for me at night so in the morning, I only need to splash my face with water. Yes, that’ll make some people cringe, but my skin freaks out and sends oil shooting out if I cleanse too much. I have other friends who do this too. But anyway, back to the Zapzyt, it truly is a life saver and I will buy this forever and always.

This product dried out my skin so badly, when I opened my mouth, it felt like my chin was going to fall right off. I’m not sure whether it was an allergic reaction or what. My chin felt red raw and I actually got MORE acne on my forehead (I usually never get any there). Never buy this product. If you do, beware.

This is my HG cleanser. Without it I am doomed. I have been using this stuff for over a year and whenever I stray I pay a huge price. My skin is crazy sensitive, acne prone with large pores. This takes off all makeup and sunscreen and keeps my complexion normal. It can be drying so I always use a moisturizer after. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!

I have been using this wash for over 2 weeks and love it! I use it once a day as my skin is very sensitive due to rosacea. My bumpiness and clogged pores are slowly getting better, my husband can even tell the difference. This is a gel consistency that doesn’t really lather and doesn’t dry my skin out as long as I use it just once a day. I use this in the mornings before my Cerave lotion and have had great results so far. I have huge pores which are many times a side effect of rosacea but this seems to be helping. Don’t expect miracles but my skin is finally improving after several months of terror. LOL!

It’s so annoying to be in your late 20s and still get pimples, and I’ve been looking for a cleanser to at least lessen the breakouts I get in my chin area. I tried Cetaphil and wasn’t too impressed. I saw Zapzyt on one of my trips to ULTA and figured that for about 5 bucks, I’d give it a try; I saw it had SA in it and figured that’s what I really needed to do the trick. The packaging and name are kind of cheesy, but what did I have to lose for that price? I love it! I’ve noticed a huge difference in the months since I’ve used it, and now I only get an occasional pimple on my chin, and even then it’s usually only around that certain time of the month. As others have said it kind of smells like a pool, but that doesn’t bother me. I’d rather they save money on fruity fakey smells and pass the savings on to us. I agree that it can be a bit drying, so I only use it on areas where I need it and always make sure to moisturize after. The prodcut can kind of gloop out all at once if you’re not careful, but just make sure you’re holding the tube at a slight angle before you uncap it. No big deal. Before trying other, more expensive acne washes, I’d recommend giving this bargain product a shot first.
