Catchy title but not a lot of information in this book on skin care. Borrow from the library. The structure of the book makes it difficult to find information that pertains to your skin needs/interests easily.
PROS:
Dr Bowe talks about probiotics/microbiome and diet in regards to skin.
Does mention the importance of sunscreen daily.
Does mention probiotic strains in regards to skin type.
Recommends sunscreen and antioxidants.
CONS
Misleading advice on sunscreen – mix with antioxidant (never mix another product into sunscreen)
Also suggest using sunscreen powders (almost impossible to apply enough) and sprays/mists.
She suggests using a sunscreen moisturizer. Good, but no ideas on what to look for ie; ingredients
She also suggests that physical sunscreen does not protect enough (false) and everyone can use chemicals (false again)
Claims that probiotics offer protection (topical and ingested) from daily environmental stressors such as UV rays
NO ONE on the skin care board has had their skin benefit from adding probiotics. I believe it can be part of the solution but not the whole solution for better skin.
No suggestion on skin care routine. Ie what to look for in sunscreen, cleanser, etc.
Her facial masks are questionable. Possible irritant rather than benefit.
Summary – Interesting read. Borrow rather than buy. Much better reading for skin care.
Appears to be a doctor that photographs well and looks great on TV.
