Written by a Canadian Derm. Dr. Sandy Skotnicki’s specialty is treating contact dermatitis also known as a eczema, a rash or skin allergies or reaction. If you are a regular on the skin care board, most likely you are aware of the basics.
PROS: She does suggest a product elimination diet and has a list of products in each category available in Canadian stores. Most of these products are easy to find.
This is the book’s link to products for skin, body, hair and sunscreen products.
There is a list of potential irritants including chemical name for preservatives (MI) and botanical and fragrance. Most SCB are aware of these.
CONS:
If you have an unusual skin issue beyond contact dermatitis; you won’t find much help here.
No information on acne, rosecea (mentioned once) or seb dermatis (SD)
She goes on and on about over washing. While she is correct that over washing can lead to irritation, she really overboard.
She does suggest sunscreen but no other anti-agiing advice.
Summary: I appreciate her no nonsense advise. I think this could be a great book for someone just starting a skin care routine OR is currently using products not suited for their skin. I do use many of her suggested products from La Roche Posay, Cerave, etc. I borrowed from the library. I have suggested her product list as a reference. Changed to repurchase. Recommend for sensitive skins
