I would probably enjoy this candle at least somewhat if it didn’t have that orange note. Imagine artificial pine mixed with citrus… If that’s your thing you’ll enjoy this candle, but I find it nauseating.

I always buy at least one product of the Winter line each year.
I find it has that pine scent I am looking for without being just a Christmas tree in a jar. It has a nice mix to it that gives it that little bit of something different. However, I could do with less of the citrus and more smokiness.
I think this year is my last year buying this scent.

I bought this online during the SAS because I was already a huge fan of the foaming hand soap. That version is citrusy-piney perfection. The candle is more smokey-woodsy. Nice, quite masculine, but not as crisp or as fresh as I’d hoped.

Nope, don’t like this one. I like the scents of pine needles, clementines, and the woods in the winter separately. But they don’t work together. Smells cloying and fake to me.

This is my second BBW candles and I had high expectation after my first one – White Barn Leaves which was amazing. This one is pretty average. According to the website, it contains pine needles, winter citrus and white woods scents. Thought I do smell all three notes but just very weak. I live in an apartment and the candle barely enough to fill the room with scents. I would say the scent is more on a woody side.
One good thing is the packaging, it came with a snowflake-embossed silver lid. Perfect for storage.

Tuberose isn’t even an identifiable note, nor is DSH’s Winter particularly floral. It smells like a softer, warmer, more subtle Youth Dew. I’m not a ‘Dude hater; sometimes I positively crave the ‘Dude, or something in that dark, rich, balsamic, woodsy, spicy, faintly rosey family. Winter is slightly powdery, balsamic, slightly spicey. I can pull out the frankincense, myrrh, sweetness and powder of balsam, soft sandalwood, a dry and firm base element — oakmoss has been listed and makes sense. Sort of ‘Dude at Christmas at night in the woods — not fresh application but mellowed one. Really lovely.
EDIT 7/22/15: Was reviewing based on sample. Got a bottle and yup, there IS tuberose. It’s subtle, but if you go looking, you’ll find it. The overall is still spicy/resin, but there is more of a floral feel in this bottle versus my sample. Still love it.

Why didn’t I remember I don’t like spicy white florals? Did I just see the word “oakmoss” and hit “add to cart”? The opening of this is fierce. Had to go scrub it off, leaving a sweetened mossy scent I didn’t mind too much, but felt compelled to slather on more of the Firefly I was testing at the same time.

I won’t describe all the notes, as they’ve been well covered by other reviewers. I will say that this fragrance makes me think of snow-covered pines and fleece blankets. It is incense-y, but for me, that cuts through a bit of the tuberose. I’m not a big tuberose fan, but here, it seems to fit well. I would not buy this product again, but its very lovely to sample.

My goodness. I don’t know what I expected, but it wasn’t this. I received a sample of Winter as an extra, and if I could remember who sent it to me, I would be sending a huge thank you note. This stuff is simply amazing. I put it on this morning, not thinking about what I was choosing and went on about my day. Every now and then I would catch a whiff of something that I thought was incense, but there are none burning. I just figured out that it’s the Winter I put on this morning!
This is *exactly* what I’ve been looking for. *Exactly*. I could not be happier and am going to invest in some just as soon as I can.

I love this. A chypre masterpiece. I never tried a chypre with tuberose and in this fragrance this combination works wonderfully. I totally agree with KelseyP and harperhilton below, their reviews describe this scent better than I could.

I hate this! It smells like Avon Timeless, like old ladies, or something from the 60’s and 70’s.
Try the Winter White instead!

Similiar notes to those found in “Inner Realm” by Erox (oakmoss, sandalwood). In fact, this was all I smelled for the first hour or so. But then a distinct note of smoky pine crept in and blended perfectly with the crisp autumn air. While I wouldn’t purchase this, I enjoyed using the samples I received in various swaps.

kelsey described this perfectly…this is another master piece by dsh that i have been wearing obsessively for days now (not ususal for me)…the tuberose-gardenia (or whatever white flower it is) and honeyed-syrupy top notes mingling with smokey-acrid-woody-earthy mid- and basenotes are exqusisitely composed. and i don’t even like tuberose (so i thought)…i just wish the top and mid notes would stay longer…anyway, i, too, keep smelling my arm over and over and over and i will definitely not be without this in the future.

This is my HG Fall/Winter scent. It is gorgeous, cradling my body chemistry, melding into my skin in a lush mix of wood and earth and sweet, hot floral depth. There is a slight sugary fruit note in this that keeps my nose stuck to my arm in an attempt to discover it’s origin. I love the complexity of this scent, and nothing comes close to this in my most humble opinion.

Oh no, this one just is too incensy for me, darn it. I live in a winter wonderland and it is summer right now (hot.. humid) so it may be the wrong time of year to even attempt wearing it (I suspect this) so I’ll be updating once it is colder here and I’ve worn it a time or two in that type of weather. For now, just too much for this girl.
