Note: this is one of diptyque’s boutique exclusives, so you won’t be able to purchase it anywhere but a diptyque boutique or online on their website. It has not been discontinued.
I really love their herbal and woodsy scents, and Bois Ciré is no exception. It reminds me of freshly polished wood floors at my grade school growing up. It’s not smoky, but is certainly woodsy. Think library without musk. Definitely a keeper for cooler months.

I believe this is one of the candles Diptyque has discontinued. Which means that out of the 4 Diptyque candles I genuinely love (Narcisse, Opopanax, Verveine and this one), 2 of them have been discontinued. Something is wrong with this picture, Diptyque. Bois Cire means waxed wood and that’s what it smells like. It has that slight sweetness and powderiness of old waxed floors a bit like Hilde Soliani’s Vecchi Rosetti. I would say it was one of the most unisex candles I have ever tried. There is nothing floral about it but the slight sweetness makes it less masculine than some of the Feu de Bois type smells. The throw is excellent and the burn is clean. I have found that Diptyques tend to burn more slowly than other candles which means they last longer but also means that they have a greater tendency than other candles to burn unevenly. I burned this for the first time for 4 1/2 hours and the wax still didn’t pool across the whole surface area.
