Label scent description: Sweet Summer Berries, Golden Waffle Cone, Creamy Vanilla with Essential Oils.
Cold sniff interpretation: Bread crust, butter, warm berry compote, creamy vanilla, mild spice.
Burn aroma: Bread crust, warm berry compote, mild spice, minimal vanilla, no cream.
I don’t know why BBW named it BWC because during the burn there is no fresh berry note, no dairy note, nothing that would make me think of a sweet, cold ice cream cone. It does not smell like a summer candle! Other than the name-flub, this candle is amazing. Berry Waffle Cone (BWC) is a delicious bakery scent that is closer to berry pie than anything else I’ve ever smelled. On cold sniff, there is a touch of creamy vanilla but that doesn’t translate well during the burn. A fragrance like this would appeal to anyone who’s a fan of FALL-inspired bakery scents. There is a rich bakery/bread crust note that dominates the whole composition that is reminiscent of French Baguette (but sweeter/less salty). Next comes a juicy dose of sweet cooked berries slightly kissed with baking spice. BWC smells hot from the oven, not straight from the ice cream shop. FYI: Blueberry Crumble foaming hand soap is very similar to Berry Waffle Cone. If you like that scent, you’ll like BWC too.
I own three of the single-wick candles and throw is powerful for the candle size. Single wick BBW candles usually throw fragrance about a 4/10, or a small room size. Comparatively, this single has a ~6-7 out of 10 throw based on 3-wick scale. The 3-wick BWCs are hitting stores now and they smell exactly the same as the single wick. I bought and burned the 3-wick version yesterday and throw is ~9 out of 10. My whole house was filled with the fragrance but didn’t become overwhelming, probably because it is not overly sugary/caramel-y.
How does BWC compare to 2018 Blueberry Maple Pancakes? I find Blueberry Maple Pancakes is primarily blueberry syrup with minimal bakery notes. I got some grape notes from that candle, too. Not bakery at all, just syrupy/fruity.
How does BWC compare to 2016 Berry Pumpkin Strudel? I own three of those (two still unburned) and burned to find the difference. Baked spiced apples and berries dominate Berry Pumpkin Strudel, with a hint of bakery. Crust or bakery notes aren’t easily apparent in that candle. With BWC, that crust/bakery note is In Your Face. In fact, I think the fruit blend in Berry Pumpkin Strudel **is** the same fruit used in BWC, just waayyyy toned-down! So if you like Berry Pumpkin Strudel but wish for a lot more Strudel crust, give this candle a try.
