Berry Pumpkin Strudel is a delicious addition to the BBW fall “pumpkin”** collection as it contains fruit notes to sweeten the spice base. The label identifies fragrance notes of sweet blueberry, baked apple, blackberry, pumpkin spice, and puff pastry. It’s absolutely warm and cozy; the scent truly takes summer fruits and turns them into a spicy fall treat. The scent to me is a lot less ‘baked’; it is spiced/mulled berries; very inviting and unmistakably autumn. I rate it a 5 because summer berries combined with autumn spices is an unusual candle scent and this is the best version I’ve smelled. I do need to point out this is very similar to (2012?) Blueberry Pumpkin Patch so if you were a fan of that scent, you will most likely be happy with this release because the composition is a close hack to BPP, shifting the fruit notes more toward mixed berry instead of being solo blueberry. Don’t worry, there’s still a lot of blueberry in the mix and it strikingly resembles Blueberry Pumpkin Patch once burning, and even the wax is blue! The candle’s throw is medium-strong and I could smell it throughout my downstairs and going upstairs after it burned for a half-hour. Note: I’ve only seen this candle at my city’s flagship BBW-White Barn, which gets all the new scents first. It’s not yet in the standard stores or online. **Bath and Body Works Pumpkin candles are usually not about pumpkin at all. It’s labeling trickery to generate greater interest in something that should carry the mundane name “baking spices”. UPDATE 9/15/16: I just bought two backup candles. Berry Pumpkin Strudel has become my favorite scent of the fall lineup because the throw is good and the spiced berry notes sustain my interest.
