   While I like the way the fine tip holds together and glides easily, the medium brown color is a purple brown. It looks hideous and fake. If this were an eyeliner color I could work with it. But for brows it really isn’t workable. I haven’t had luck with this line, and this was the final straw. I give up on KVD

   Im so glad I wasn’t born in the 80s. I like a bold brow- in fact, the bolder the better. I look at white celebs in the 90s and cringe- their brows were just so thin, puny and pathetic. Not for me! I like a thick, bold brow- brows so huge and black and hairy that they make Frida Khalo look bald. This is the only product that gives me this look. Its a fine liquid brow liner that comes in a pen style cartridge. I use it in black and it gives a fine, precise and very strong “inky” look. My only gripe is that because the nib is so fine, I have to go over each brow with at least 400 strokes to achieve the thickness I want. My usual routine is that I get up at 5am to start on my brows and with this pen, it usually takes me around an hour to complete each brow. So I’m usually done by 7am, max. After 15 hours of dog walking, my brows are still perfect and haven’t smudged or budged.
   Some people have commented that thick black brows with dyed platinum blonde hair looks “tacky” or skanky but I disagree, just look at Bert from Sesame street- he’s loved by millions so I can’t be going too wrong. I recommend this brow pen for anyone who has had a prior micro blading disaster like me- you won’t regret it.

   This is an average brow pen, in my opinion. It’s solid enough that I’ve kept buying it instead of waiting for an overseas shipment of the K-Palette pen, but I’m looking out for one that’s better but is still as accessible as KVD.

   I’m fair-warm with medium-toned red hair and the Light Brown shade is my closest match, as the pen leans a bit red too– no weird color changes from it throughout the day (yikes, Anastasia). I’ve found it applies best if I dust a bit of my colorless setting powder over my brows first so my skin oils and moisturizer won’t reject the pigment. It swipes on slightly sheer so I typically apply two coats in the areas where my brows need the most help– it’s opaque enough to use just one where you want a bit more darkness. I love the synthetic-hair brush tip for sketching out individual hair marks; be sure to wipe it off once in a while if you use it after eyeshadow.

   I admit I haven’t checked it closely throughout the day, but by the end of the workday I’ve noticed mild to significant fading (depending on how hot the weather is) on areas sparse on actual hair but heavier on the pen. The pen itself lasted me 5-6 months.

   So in general, a decent pen, but its longevity could be improved.

   I was looking for a new brow product and decided to try this. It was $19 at Sephora, which is not too expensive. Unfortunately the product did not work out. It started out well enough: It applies lightly and you have to build up for a darker, thicker look. The price, lines, and brush I thought were great, but the product ended up running out the very first time I used it! I am not sure if I just happened to pick up a bad pen, but I won’t be repurchasing when I have found other, reliable products. I am disappointed that this did not work out, as it survived sleep and mostly stayed on when I showered, so it was fairly waterproof. Sadly, I cannot recommend this particular Kat von D product.
