Holy grail brow product for all the lazy people out there going for a natural look. I’m very particular about my brows and this pencil lets me get them just the way I want them in under a minute every morning. It’s nice and cool toned so it looks very convincingly like real hair, has a great texture that applies well yet is stiff enough for easy sharpening, and lasts all day without ever transferring or smudging no matter how hot the weather gets. Is it expensive? Not when you consider the amount of use you’ll get from it — one pencil lasts me 1.5 – 2 years. I’m on my fourth pencil as we speak and will always repurchase.

Wow, I mean… accept no substitutes. I’m on my fourth or fifth pencil. I initially balked at the price tag and tried out a variety of drugstore and slightly-less-prestige options and just ran up a tab on gummy, smudgy, off-color brow products. The medium-brown is a great match for my brows–I’ve got darkish-brown brows and this cool-toned taupe-based brown is perfect. The spoolie at the end is fantastic and the pencil is just the right consistency (hard enough to sharpen to a nice point and get in good detail, but soft enough to actually fill in the spots on your brow). I wear this with and without brow gel over the top–looks great either way. (I’ve tried ABH’s Brow Wiz, too, and it’s quite nice, too, but doesn’t last nearly as long and is a bit softer consistency.)

I am on my 10th pencil and it is definitely my HG and the one I measure all other brow pencils to. It is the best match for my brow color and has a very natural finish that I can build up if I want a more dramatic effect. Highly recommend this classic <3

Context: this is the first brow product I’ve used consistently. I’ve only tried a handful of brow products. I have dry skin and medium or medium-dark brown hair and brows. My brows are moderately full on their own but have some sparse patches. My preferences are to lightly fill in my sparse patches and maintain a very natural looking brow.
I was pretty happy with the pencil when I only used it for special events. Once I started filling my brows in every day, though, I noticed two major problems. First, it doesn’t seem to last me through the whole workday, which is disappointing. I have dry skin so longevity isn’t usually an issue for me. And second, it doesn’t seem to show up in photos. For these reasons as well as the high price, I’ll be hunting for a new product once this one is used up.
Here are some things I do like about this product: it seems to stay put when I wear it in the rain. The amount of pigmentation (not too much or too little) makes it easy to apply with little fear of overdoing it. It makes for a very natural look which is what I prefer. It’s a good texture – hard enough to draw precise lines even if the tip is blunted but soft enough that it’s comfortable to use. The color is a good match for my hair color, which I described above.
Here are some smaller issues I have with this product: the exposed part of the product seems to dry out after a week or two and it stops depositing pigment. I need to sharpen it to get it to draw lines again. Since this usually happens before I’m ready to sharpen it for reasons of precision, it makes me feel like I’m wasting product. I don’t mind paying more for quality but when I need to throw away product just to get the thing to work, that makes me feel like I’m paying even more per ounce for the product that actually makes it onto my face.
Also, I think I must be the only person in the beauty world to say this but I’m not a fan of the attached spoolie brush. The brush itself is good, it’s the placement on the back of a pencil hat I have problems with. I use a physical sunscreen and even though I’m careful not to get any of it in my brows, the spoolie always manages to pick up a million little flakes of titanium dioxide and then it looks like my brow pencil spoolie has dandruff, and all of that would be fine if it weren’t such a pain in the ass to wash the spoolie that’s attached to a pencil, but the paint on the pencil runs when it gets wet and AUGH I’m sure no one else cares about these incredibly picky first world brow pencil problems but you know what? I do. And I won’t be repurchasing.

I had been using brow powder to fill in my overplucked brows but this is much easier, and looks way more natural. It doesn’t last all day for me and it sort of fades away, but I would still buy it again.

My go-to pencil for the perfect brow. This pencil has a small mascara like brush on the other end of the pencil for helping to blend the product in. The color is perfect for brunettes. Its not overbearingly dark. It is the best on the market. The only drawback is the price. Its about $23, a bit pricey. Nevertheless, its the brow pencil to have.

I’m in love with this brow pencil. It lasts all day on my oily skin and brow brush spreads evenly.
I always go back to this color when I dye my hair brown, but I can never pull this color off when my hair is black.
I always sharpen my pencil to remove bacteria and the tip never breaks off. I will keep using this until it has reached its sharpened limit!

Edit 3/27/2016: It’s been 3 years since my previous review. I was recently at Ulta and for heck of it I decided to try this pencil again. I tested it on the back of my hand and discovered it was not as waxy as the last time I tried it. Hmmmmm….interesting..
I removed my brow make-up (consisting of Milani stay put brow color in medium brown as a base with K-palette tattoo pencil in grayish-brown over it with hair-like strokes) I used the Anastasia pencil and drew in some ‘hairs’ on my brows and almost jumped for joy as the formula has been perfected! The original pencil (pink outside) was a tiny bit dry and had to be pressed hard which sometimes, if pressed too hard, removed hairs. This present formula is perfect – not too dry not too waxy. I was able to create thin lines which a waxy/greasy pencil can not do.
I quickly purchased the pencil and when I got home tried it on freshly washed face. I did use the milani brow color as the base because it gives it the appearence of ‘thickness’ and since I have VERY sparse eyebrows it colors in bald spots. I then go over it with the pencil making ‘hairs’ and I love it better then my k-palette pencil which was leaving my eyebrows to ‘ash’ because the pencil is more gray then brown. (perfect for asian brows or very dark eyebrows)
This pencil is NOT warm, it’s a perfect ash brown but not to ashy that it looks gray or black. I then went running in 90 degrees in tropical Miami humidity and it stayed put. Voila! My new HG.

This WAS my HG pencil. The formula did change- it is now much waxier which means it smudges and the color (medium brown) is different too. I used the original formula which was the outer colored pencil in pink. I used it for 5 years, every single morning, EVERY SINGLE MORNING! Without fail. I have barely any eyebrows, very sparse, no tail. The ORIGINAL formula was perfect. I called Anastasia company to tell them I did not like the new formula and they stated only the outer color of the pencil and box had changed. WHAT AN INSULT to their devoted customers who used it religiously.
I’m not the only one who prefers the original formula because as soon as one comes for sale on ebay it is immediately snatched away at a higher price then the original cost.

LOVE. IT.
I used to use anastasia brow powder but this is so much easier!
I just swipe this over my brows and it looks super natural.
I think the brow wiz would be too much color for me, and since i already have dark brown eyebrows (thick) it would make me look like i have caterpillars on my eyes.
This fills them in enough to make them full but doesn’t make them too dark.
Obsessed with it!!

This is my new favorite eyebrow pencil. Previously I was using MAC’s Spiked brow pencil combined with their Coquette eyeshadow to perfect my brows. This brow pencil beats anything else I’ve tried. It goes on very easily, and doesn’t look to harsh. When it sets it sets very much like a powder, giving me the definition I’m looking for without being to “pencil” like. The brush attached it a very much appreciated bonus.
I will definitely be purchasing this again.
