Just a heads up this is going to be a pretty long and detailed review, so get comfy.
This brow product is a new release by L’Oreal in their collab capsule collection ‘Havana by Camila Cabello’. I guess she sings that one song about Havana that gets stuck in everyone’s head.
Since I’m a major brow product junkie, this was the first product in the line I picked up and gravitated toward. Rightfully so bc the rest of the line, (consisting of lip glosses, eyeshadows, and a liquid eyeliner) which might seem somewhat appealing, end up mediocre compared to this brow product which steals the show in this line.
There are only 3 shades in this brow line: Light (blonde to dark blonde), Medium (light brown to Medium brown), and Deep (dark brown to black), which definitely may be a little prohibive for the multitude of brow shade ranges.
The first shade I purchased was Medium since the packaging is considerably vague when it comes to depiction of the actual shade, and though I have a bleached balayage bob but naturally dark blonde/light brown hair, a lot of the time “Light” in any brow range is TOO light for me bc it provides zero definition.
This product seems to be $11.99 across the board, regardless of where you purchase, so it was a bit of a risk but I figured wth, why not.
It’s packaged much like a liquid eyeliner (even has a shake ball thingamajig inside) and consists of a turquoise colored screw top with an angled applicator, much like an angled brow brush but smaller. The description calls it a “felt” tip, but to me it feels more like a rubber tip applicator.
This product is pretty liquid-like in consistency and definitely has Wunderbrow vibes imo, but the applicator is nothing that I’ve ever seen or used before and made application an absolute breeze (unlike Wunderbrow which takes some finesse and technique and needs other brushes to apply).
My immediate impression was that this was not going to work for me. I have thick, but thin, brows that I’ve been growing out. Usually liquid formulas such as this make my brows really heavy looking and I can never get definition where I need it.
I have to say that just in my first use I was pleasantly surprised how this applies. I found it incredibly intuitive, the color payoff perfect in that it provided the shape and definition I needed without looking heavy or drawn on, didn’t clump, was easy to work with, not only the applicator but in combing through with a spoolie as I worked with it and it didn’t dry down too quickly. It didn’t smear all over though, and it didnt clump into my brow hair, yet it allowed me to really define and fill in my brows.
The wear time was ridiculously amazing. I’d liken it to Wunderbrow without a second thought. I went to an outside concert in 100% humidity (TX) and though I left the concert soaked and most of my makeup had worn off, my brows were still immaculate and on point. I had raccoon eyes, but my brows were still legit.
I found the Medium shade to be just a hint too dark for my entire brow, so I purchased it AGAIN in Light so I can use both shades…the light at the forefront of my brow and Medium after my arch.
I can’t tell you how much I LOVE the combo. I have Wunderbrow, I have Dipbrow, I have KVDs brow pomade and her powder (don’t get me started on that nightmare), all of the Benefit brow line….the list goes on. I’ve used everything at this point…and I have to say…this is probably the most impressive brow product I’ve used in a LONG time.
It’s definitely worth a purchase and I REALLY hope L’Oreal makes this a permanent product. It beats their other brow products (the sculpt line, the plumpifier thing) tenfold.
It’s as if a brow pen and Wunderbrow had a baby and this is the result. I can see this working for everyone, whether you like the intensity of an IG brow or a more natural brow, though again, the shades are a little prohibitive.
The applicator for a liquid brow product is genius, and though it’s a liquid it doesn’t feel too thin, or too heavy. I’m incredibly impressed.
Granted, L’Oréal needs to make up their mind whether it’s called Gotta Give Brow or Insta Brow (both are used) and they need to add a few more shades like a Taupe and an Auburn, but this formula and applicator is a definite win.
I’m probably going to pick up a few more of both shades just in case they decide this is going to be limited to this collection (which imo would be a DUMB move, and I’d discontinue something else to make this permanent, if I were them, before someone else releases something like this).
9/10 in overall performance and taking into account the shade range and possibility of limited release.
