Ash, (number 4) is the perfect brow color, perfect natural.

I just had to do a new review as the old one wasn’t reflecting my current opinion anymore. I bought this as a substitute to my all time favourite eyebrow pencil Too Faced Browney, which isn’t available anymore (at least not where I live). My brows are very thin and sparse (thanks to overplucking in the 90’s) and a brow pencil is something I use every single day. I don’t leave the house without doing my brows first. What I want from an eyebrow pencil is that it’s easy to apply, a not too soft and not too hard tip and longevity, and I need it to last all day. First of all the colour (I have this in 5) is spot on for me. When I use this pencil it looks very natural, it doesn’t look like you’ve drawn and coloured in a block of eyebrow. It’s the closest I get to my actual own eyebrows I used to have before the overplucking. It leaves a little white here and there, so the illusion of real hairs is given, and I absolutely love that! It’s waxy consistency is also the downfall of this pencil. When my skin is slightly greasier or if I’m a bit sweaty it just doesn’t work so well. Longevity isn’t its strong point either, it just seems to melts away a little during the day if I don’t set it with an eyebrow powder (which totally undoes the natural look I’ve just achieved). If you use this to fill in some minor gaps between hairs it works fine, but if you use this up or under your brows, where hairs used to or are supposed to grow, than it just isn’t fool proof unfortunately. I use Benefit Goof Proof, which does everything I want BUT not the natural look I achieve with the YSL one. So I alternate, and on days when I use this I make sure I have brow powder with me so I can do touch ups. All in all I still give it 4 lippies because I do love it. And hate it at the same time :’)

This eyebrow pencil is everything. This is my HG for eyebrow department and I really love it. Currently I’m on my second pencil.
First of all, I have a brunette hair. It’s dark brown and has a slight reddish undertones. But generally it looks like dark brown colour.
This eyebrow pencil doesn’t have any reddish undertones to it, which is one of the reasons why I really love this product. I’m using no 5 to match with my hair colour. And it looks good. Not too dark, but not too light. And it looks natural too and gives me some volume to my brows.
It’s waxy enough to grab my brows and shape it, which is another reason why I love this. It grabs the hair and holds it, makes it easier for me to shape my brows. And it certainly has a good staying power. I put this pencil on my brows and took a nap and when I woke up the pencil is still there, just need a little bit of touch up.
This pencil comes with a brush and the brush is good too! The brush is not those cheap brush that I sometimes found in Korean brands, but this brush is really good to blend the colours and sturdy.
The only downside for me is when the glue around the brush area gone, leaving me with brushless pencil. So I had to re-glued the brush back with super glue. But it doesn’t change the fact that it’s such an amazing eyebrow pencil.
Update 11 July 2016: I bought another of this pencil in different colour since I coloured my hair with lighter colour (now it’s reddish light brown), so the salesperson matched me with no 2 and it looks really good.

I purchased this brow pencil in Amsterdam airport, because the MAC store had sold out of their Stud brow pencil. This was a better purchase in my opinion. The pencil is hard it has a grey undertone, and I can make my brows look amazing using this product. For some reason the I thought all spoolies were the same! The one that comes on the end of this is great too. I apply the pencil then comb it through, apply and comb until I get the desired effect. This pencil does not budge once on. My hair if brushing against my face, has erased some pencils/gels I have worn or if I have sweated i.e. done an exercise class, those brands have gone! This one stays put. I do like to experiment with cosmetics, when this runs out I will try something else, but I would repurchase again. It is a sharpen product, not a wind up, which is fine with me. I just read in one of the other reviews, that if you put the item in the fridge, you dont loss too much when you sharpen it. I will give that a try. Being a women of colour sometimes blacks can be too harsh and browns too red. Although expensive in my view, I like the product overall and feel that for the results its worth purchasing.

Today was my search for perfect eye brow pencil. I made tons, tons of swatches, consult of tons sales person, two pencils won:YSL nr3 and Chanel 10 (lightest shade). However the winner is YSL! Amazing pencil, perft hardness, vaxy structure and colour. My still fave is Kevyn Aucoin ash blonde but the price and quantity…so its too expensive and too perfect:) YSL is the same quality as KA though and its cheaper! Even i have darker brows i like to use light pencils for the most natural, subtle glowing look. I am getting YSL this time. Its amazing. Lancome is nice too but too soft and dark colours

I just received 005 Ebony, it is still in the brown spectrum. I will try ash next time. I wish I had known it before hand. Otherwise, it is a great eye brow pencil

My all time favourite eye brow pencil as it creates a very natural look yet providing good definition. It is quite dry which I like since I am able to sharpen it and go in between brow hairs filling the gaps in. The product is very very blendable as the texture is not creamy but powdery.
Comes with a brush located on the other end, which is very handy. The brush is quite decent, by the way.
The price is quite high, but you get 1,3 grams which is not bad at all.
I own shade 5 “Eboby”. It is perfect for my dark brown eyebrows. The colour has a hint of grey in it which is good as many dark brown pencils are leaning towards red.

i use dis wen i shave mah brows den draw dem bac on

My hair is mostly silver, so brow color with red or gold tones looks off on me. I like pencil for my skimpy brows and prefer a brush on the other end. I have used Lancome’s pencil in Taupe for several years and it has wonderful texture, but is a little too gold. Great, but not perfect. YSL in Ash has surpassed my old love — it’s perfect in every way. Well, except it is expensive.

Have this in #4- Ash, great grey for Asians with black hair (used with harder stroke). One downside is that a harder hand is needed to get the color needed as the pencil is firmer, but softer than the Shu eyebrow pencil. Great results though
