I have long brows with thick Asian hair, and occasional Asian sparse spots. While this gel doesnt hold my hairs in place, it is adequate for the mid-brow combovers, thickening the finest above-brow hairs, and, best of all, it doesnt apply red and it doesnt turn gray over the course of the day.* I wear Dark Brown in the morning, and when I Facetime my aunt in the evening, she calls me “Brooke Shields.” This gel alone has saved me precious sleep time in the morning while helping me fake the look of naturally full, youthful brows.
I do, however, have one warning: the brush collects product and must be wiped off on the lip of the tube. This avoids gray-brown brow balls.
(*On me, Maybelline brow pencils apply red on me, and the essence and Maybelline brow mascaras turn gray over the course of the day)
Best accidental $4 at cvs spent.

I bought this product awhile ago when I didn’t know that much about makeup, I’ve had it in my collection ever since and have been using it off and on. I decided to give it another try to see if i could make it work since it was the only brow gel I had. I do not like anything about this product, the brush is way to big, to much product comes off onto the brush so i have to put a little on my brows then use another brow brush to blend it out, and it does not hold my brows in place AT ALL. Within 30 minutes my brows are already all of the place and need to be combed down again. The shade ranges is not great either i only see 3 shades every time i go into the drug store and pass this item. .

Pros
+cheap price
+it has a nice dark brown shade (a truely dark brown with no orange, red or green undertone.it’s cool but not too ashy or gray)
+it doesn’t clump on brows
+lasts long and won’t fade, look muddy or change color as day goes on
+doesn’t smear or transfer after it sets
+it can fill empty places of brow and make brows look full.there’s no need to use another brow product to fill in sparse parts
+it has a decent holding power and makes brow hairs stay in place for a couple of hours
Cons:
-it has a cone-shaped brush which makes it almost impossible to use on thin eyebrows
-it has a liquid formula, the application can be messy
-it colors the skin not just hairs
-there’s no fibers in it so it can’t thicken brow hairs
-very limited shades
-it can flake
I was surprised to see low ratings of this brow gel as I like it very much.before this,I used Essence Make Me Brow gel and I was ok with it but when it finished I decided to try a new one.the shade “Dark Brown” of Rimmel Brow This Way Gel was on sale in Hiland mall for 3USD and I bought it even though I felt it’s too dark for me(the lighter shade, light brown was twice more expensive but it was still affordable IMO),for refrence the shade Dark Brown in Rimmel is a touch lighter than Bourjois Brow Gel in shade 4 and is more ashy compared to Essence shade 2,it’s a truely dark brown with a cool undertone but not too cool to look gray and unnatural.it doesn’t have any red or orange undertone.I believe it looks best on people with black or dark brown hair
About my brows,I had shaved the tail of my brows for years but started to let it grow 5 months ago,now It’s back but it’s still very sparse.I naturally have black, almost thin hair and eyebrow.I have colored my hair to a very light, almost silver platinum blonde, neither black brows nor too blonde ones look good on me.before buying this brow gel I usually colored my brows to a medium brown and used Anesthesia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in Blonde to shape and fill in them(I try to fill in my brows with hair-like lines but usually I’m not successful) then combed my brows with Essence Make Me Brow Gel in shade 01(lightest shade). I’m into arched, long, almost wide Instagram brows(my natural brows were long and arched naturally before I foolishly shaved them)
Now lets start reviewing
I believe the biggest reason of low ratings is this brow gel’s wand.it comes out of the tube with too much product on it,also it has a cone shaped brush which seems to be too big and difficult to handle for most people.to be honest,I don’t find it bulky anymore after some practice.when I first bought it I was afraid that I may color around my eyebrows because of it’s cone-shaped brush so I simply used Essence’s wand instead of it’s own wand but then decided to work with it’s own wand and now I’m ok with it..yes,it’s bigger than Benefit Gimmie Brow or Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow gel’s wands but a lot of other brow gels have thiner yet longer brushes(forexample Bourjois or Catrice) which I find as difficult to work with as this one.
I believe it just needs some practice and getting used to(unless you have thin brows,in that case it won’t work for you),but if you have bought it and can’t work with it,try other brow gel wands with it.
It’s formula is more on liquid side,it’s not a real gel.there’s no fibers in it.it never clumps on eyebrows thanks to it’s liquid,no fiber formula but it also makes it impossible to use on just brow hairs,it WILL also color the skin under brow hairs.this can be both good and bad depending on your needs and expectations from a brow gel.it can be good because it’s able to fill in the sparse parts of brow on it’s own so you can use it alone as there’s no need to use a brow pencil/pomade/powder to fill in the empty parts.it can be bad if you like to have more natural look and you’d like your brow hairs to show.I can’t use it on tail of my brows as it’s too thin and too sparse yet.I use it on inner half of my brows and it makes my brows look groomed and naturally full.
I highly believe less is more with this product,I swipe it’s wand against the walls of tube, even sometimes wipe off the excess product with a tissue, then try to apply it with the lightest hand possible, sometimes I need to clean up skin around my brows with a Q tip soaked in micellar water, sometimes I need to comb my brows with a clean spoolie, then I draw tail of my brows with WetnWild Retractable Brow Pencil in shade Cool Brown and I’m good to go.it seems to be high maintance but now I don’t need to fill in my brows with pomade and it creates a great look which lasts the whole day so I believe it worthes
After applying it,it sets in less than a minute and after that it doesn’t smudge or transfer at all.even if you sweat or sleep with your face on a pillow.but if you touch your eyebrows a lot,it will flake a bit.it also has a good fixing power.I need some of the hairs in my arch to stay high and they don’t droop for couple of hours when I use this brow gel.it’s very different with my previous brow gel,Essence..that one had a quick, not messy application.it didn’t color the skin so didn’t fill in sparse parts and didn’t have ability to hold brow hairs,It just made my brow hairs look a bit more thick and that it’s light color(I had it in shade 01,it was a taupe blonde) made my brows look less harsh and dark and more natural.but this Rimmel Brow gel has the ability to fill in empty parts and has a decent holding power but can be messy.I like them both, each in different occasion.I have the best results when I use Rimmel, with Essence’s wand
I will repurchase this brow gel but probably in shade light brown as this one is really too dark for me but I can’t call it my HG and I’d still like to try other brow gels too.I wish it’s clear version was also available here
If you have wide/good brows and want something to make them look even more full and groomed and don’t mind to clean up the potentiel mess with a Q tip make sure to try it

I decided to give this a try, as Walgreens had a decent sale on it and I was interested in trying an eyebrow gel. First off, the shade range is horrible – I think there’s 3 shades and a clear. I went with the medium brown and it was a bit too dark. The next shade up, the blonde would be laughable on me. Medium brown wasn’t horrible but definitely not the best match for me. I like the idea of the eyebrow gel (vs. multi-step kits), as I am not fussy with my brows and don’t like to spend too much time on them but like to fill them in a bit. I wish the wand was longer and thinner, as most of the time using this product I’d need to use a q-tip to wipe off excess at the ends of my brows. Aside from that I found the product fairly long lasting and no irritation, but I wouldn’t repurchase unless they did a major revamp.

I have this in dark brown. The colour is perfect for my black (brown-black) hair. That’s about all that’s good about this product. I bought it because it was relatively cheap and I’d never tried a brow gel before.
It’s not TERRIBLE. It just doesn’t do very much very well. It does adhere to the brow hairs, but doesn’t do very well on the finer hairs, and if you try to get it closer to your skin to pick them up you will just paint it on yourself, which looks…pretty bad. It clumps up a bit, enough to be super annoying, but not noticeable from a distance. The brush is not great. Too bulky to maneuver, and very easy to paint your own skin. I use a spoolie to neaten it up, but I shouldn’t have to, you know?
Over the course of a day, it stays ok. It’s smudge-proof as advertised, but it will flake off a bit if you touch it at all. It is NOT waterproof, as I discovered when I got caught in the rain. It comes right off. The staying power is meh. It doesn’t really hold your brows in place. Mine don’t need that, so no lippies deducted for that, but it’s pretty ineffective.

I think your opinion on this product depends very much on what you use it for. For very bold and defined “Instagram” brows, it’s probably very underwhelming and is nowhere near pigmented enough for that kind of look – it’d just be a waste of your time and money. Same if you want a brow gel that makes your brows look a very different colour to their natural shade, it’s not very opaque.
I have some very sad and sparse eyebrows that were a victim of the Great Brow Overplucking fashion crime of the late 90s and early 2000s. It’s been over 10 years since I stopped plucking them and I still have bald patches requiring some tactical brushing and styling to cover. I use a brow pencil to do most of the work, then use this in #2 medium brown to brush and set the hairs. It’s lighter than my dark brown natural hairs, but is on the sheer side so it has a softer, more natural look overall. It’s also quite a neutral colour, not overly red. Darker brow products tend to just make me look angry all day so that’s why I picked the lighter one.
While I do actually like the product itself, I don’t like the brush much. It tends to come out with too much product on so I need to wipe half of it off, and the tip holds an unholy amount of product that WILL smear above my brows if I’m not careful. If the brush was better I’d score it better but it’s infuriating – if I’m in a rush going somewhere and trying to be quick, this is far too easy to make a mess with. If I find a product with a similar ash brown sheer shade, with a better brush, I’ll switch in a heartbeat.

I have naturally dark and thin eyebrows on the sparser side and this product works for me! It has worked since the first time I’ve used it. I usually fill in my eyebrows with a brow pencil and add this tinted gel to lock whatever I’ve sketched and filled in place, then I brush back through my brows with a spoolie once or twice. I got mine in 002 medium brown and I was pleasantly surprised after the first time I used this. I looked in the mirror and it gave my eyebrows a lift without looking harsh. In my opinion, it gives off a more casual put together brow appearence, kind of effortless and pretty. Like your eyebrows have always been that way compared to a strong, arched set of eyebrows you’d see on Instagram. Good for the price, would probably buy again. As mentioned, the brush could be tinier and you’ve got to be precise and careful with the amount you’re applying.

I think this is a good product, but the color/type of brows you have are really what will determine your opinion on this!
I have a brow shape I like and manageable brow hairs. I never overplucked so it probably would take a lot for me to hate a brow product. I use this when I want a “natural” make up day, but still need to put something on my brows. I bought this in the shade blonde. It adds color and depth to my brows so they do appear fuller after application. The product shows up on me and lasts all day.
I do agree with other people when they say there is a lot of product on the applicator. I normally swipe it against the side of the bottle then try to add small amounts to the brow. Normally, the brush still applies a lot so I use a spooly to comb it through. After that I’m good to go.
I think if you have natural brows that don’t need a lot of maintenance to give this a try before more expensive products. I would have no issue repurchasing this again or recommending this to someone who (I know) has brows that can work with the product!
At the same time, it lost stars from me because of the inconvenience of application. There are more steps to apply it (wipe off excess, apply, comb through with clean spooly), then had I just applied my high end brow powder!

This should be renamed paint s that’s what it is
Impossible to get any kind of natural finish without wiping half off brush beforehand brush too big and awkward save your money for benefit
Hated it in bin very quickly

I really love this. I have pretty good thick brows, but theyre unruly and i have stereotypical ‘hypothyroid’ very scanty and fairer outer brows which contrast ridiculously with the mid and start that are black and bushy. This makes all the colour uniform, tames the granddaddy hairs, and makes me look more groomed. It does probably carry a little excess on the brush but I dont find it to cause clumps or mess.
