I have used up over 5 of these brow micro pencils from L’Oreal in the shade Dark Brunette. It is the perfect shade if you’re Asian; it looks natural, not too bold, and it is not at all reddish. The pencil texture is perfect, not too waxy and not too creamy, and the spoolie is great. Everything always works perfectly. It is a retractable pencil that comes with .003 oz of product, which is typical. I prefer it to Maybelline’s Brow Precise Micro Crayon, which I also enjoy, but it is a creamier texture and it comes with 1/3 less product (.002 oz). FYI, in some cities like NYC, the Maybelline is less expensive but in the DC area, the Maybelline actually costs more than the L’Oreal.
I can go through it pretty quickly, so I’m glad I’m not paying “Sephora prices” but it is not cheap either.

This is the best!!! I’m so glad I took a chance on this. I was looking for a waterproof brow product and this did not disappoint! It stayed put for 8+ hours during a day at the water park. I was snorkeling and going under waterfalls in the lazy river. This also lasts all day in the Florida heat. It doesn’t smudge or sweat off at all! I’m in love! Highly recommend this!!

This is an exact dupe for the abh brow wiz and contains the same amount of product. I use the shade dark brown in the brow wiz and the dark brunette for the L’Oréal looks the same in the brows. Both are great for natural or bold brows and have the same texture and lasting power. I only wish I had discovered this earlier

I have this in dark brunette and I like it better than any other brow pencil I’ve tried, including Anastasia. Deposits just the right amount of color and isn’t orangy or reddish. HG, have repurchased many times.

Update (1 week later). The application was a little bit better once I broke off the tip. However, that dried up after a day or two, which left me with the same results as the first time around. I just don’t think this cap is tight enough to keep it from drying out.

Original review:
I don’t understand the rave reviews. Maybe I got a dried-out product?
I had some trouble with this $11 brow pencil. True, the cap to the spoolie broke almost immediately, but that’s not my gripe. The tip is super fine (“ultra-fine 0.5mm”) , and it’s retractable, so it’s all good in concept. My main issue was the formula, and how it goes on. I had to press hard to get it to transfer. It comes out gritty, clumpy, splotchy, and hard to control, not as thin, smooth, “light, feathery” lines like I had expected.
I chose dark brunette, which is an ashy (thankfully not too warm) black-brown color (TBH, it swatches black until you smudge it). My brows are very dark. If this had actually worked as I had hoped (feathery strokes, I was promised!), I don’t think it would look so visible clumpy or the ends so unnaturally black.
I bought this at my local Walgreens, so I’m a little bit doubtful that I got old product. If that was the case, though, it would explain all the great reviews versus my experience w/ this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Despite issues with this product, I would still try the Brow Stylist Shape & Fill model from this line. It has a larger, triangular tip, so it might more better suited for me. Also, if the colors of that product are a match to this one, I would probably go down one shade to the Brunette (415), versus the Dark Brunette shade that I chose here.

My eyebrows are a big part of my daily makeup routine. I used to try and cut corners and spend less money on eyebrow pencil, but the cheap ones would always be waxy and break when sharpening. This pencil CHANGED my routine. It never has to be sharpened which is so convenient, saves time and money as you waste less of the product sharpening it. It goes on really well, and can create a dramatic or really natural look, depending on your stokes. It is quite expensive, but performs really well and is totally worth the money!! Brush works well for blending aswell. Would recommend to everyone!!!

I got this in light brunette. It is a good product but the packaging makes this a no-go. And I am not a packaging snob if the price point is low and the product is good. Week 1: The spoolie fell off – no biggie, I glued it back on. Week 2: Glue didn’t stay, okay fine, use a different spoolie. Week 3: The body pulls apart when I try to uncap the pencil – this is just useless! I can’t be fiddling around with a stupidly packaged brow pencil every morning. So keep looking for your HG ds brow pencil – this ain’t it.

I bought the blonde shade. I love the color and the fine tip. The pencil is fully retractable. I’ve been using MAC’s brow pencil in Fling and it advances, but the lead does not retract, a minor annoyance. This pencil is also half the price of the MAC pencil. However, this pencil is waxy and if I don’t set it with brow powder, it can rub off during the day. I have Sephora’s retractable brow pencil and it is longer-lasting, so I’d prefer to repurchase the Sephora brand. If L’Oreal’s didn’t rub off so easily, I’d give it a perfect rating because I loved everything else about it.

Hands down, THE best brow product the drugstore offers and a pretty much exact dupe for Anastasia Brow Wiz. I have this in the shade Dark Brunette. Admittedly the shade range could use some work, I think they are limited to 3, which certainly doesn’t match Anastasia’s, but aside from that and the price drop off there is no difference, as far as I can tell.
This is your traditional very small, precise brow pencil that anyone with thin to medium brows will appreciate. If you’re rocking fuller brows you might still enjoy this, but it will take more time to fill them than say, using a pomade or a thicker pencil. I personally have medium-thickness brows, which have really sparse areas that need major help. This does the trick nicely, and the shade is very natural-looking. One problem I’ve had in the past is that so many brown or dark brown brow pencils can run really red. Not a natural look, unless someone is a redhead. Then the next step up, black, is jet black and very heavy. The Dark Brunette shade here is definitely dark enough to match my hair but not crazy pigmented like the Maybelline mini brow pencils which I will use to deepen the color SLIGHTLY if I am doing a dramatic eye look and want my brows to match.
This pencil has a spoolie on the opposite end that helps create a natural effect if you run it through the brows VERY lightly, pressing hard will make them look patchy. I used to ignore this step and have since found that it makes a world of difference and I am getting complimented on my brows for the first time in my life. I believe this pencil is one of those few pivotal products that I will continue to purchase indefinitely without even bothering to try others. It doesn’t make sense to drop over $20 on a pencil that lasts under a month when you can grab this on sale for $5 and literally get the same experience.

I haven’t written a review in ages but I had to about this product. I’ve recently dyed my hair a darker shade and the brow pencil I had was too light. ABH brow wiz has been my HG for years but I didn’t want to spend the money for the expensive pencil because my hair will have some highlights soon. I bought the shade light brunette with not much expectation, but I am stunned. It is creamy, but not so much that it’s too soft and you can’t control it. The pigment was just enough, the tip is super fine just like the Anastasia one, and the shade wasn’t too warm which is usually my issue with most brow products. The spoolie on the end is also very nice and blended like a dream. I’m not sure if I’ll go back to Anastasia after I’m finished with my taupe pencil. This is seriously a drugstore gem.
