It’s common knowledge that if you try one product from Physicians Formula, it should be a bronzer. It’s their strong suit, and now that New York Color is absent from most drugstores, they make the only really noteworthy matte bronzers you’ll find there.
This is one of them; just a very subtle, natural but pigmented bronzer that might be too light for medium to deep skintones but should work well for anyone on the fair to light-medium spectrum. The palette has a mosaic of colors- beige, pink, browns and the like, that you swirl your brush on to pick up a combination of the colors. It is perhaps supposed to be on the warm side because of the inclusion of the pinks, but it looks similar to Hoola from Benefit (which is fairly neutral) once it’s applied, just a hint lighter.
Color payoff is even and blends nicely into the skin. The packaging is a bit bulkier than whatever else you’ll find at the drugstore, but it’s also very sturdy and comes with a mirror, which is a perk to PF’s products that I’ve come to really appreciate because I seem to have a mental block that keeps me from remembering to put a compact mirror in my purse.
The price is okay; I’ve gotten accustomed to finding PF products on sale and receiving tons of coupons at CVS (thanks for contributing to my habit guys!!), so I usually get their products for half-off or even less!

I used this product in the winter when I didn’t have a tan. I have pretty fair skin so it’s hard finding a bronzer that isn’t too dark and gives a natural glow. This bronzer is really nice and does just that. It gives me a subtle, natural looking color and with the pink in it as well, it just gives a really nice all over color. And it doesn’t have a shimmer to it like most bonzers either so that makes it look even more natural.

Let’s start off by saying that I have some trouble finding a proper bronzer for my fair skin. This one was recommended to me by an Ulta employee in Light. It is not a bad bronzer, but I think it is more suitable for those with non-fair skin (NC15). Light skin (NC20/25+) and darker would be perfect. I find this to be a natural looking bronzer but a little orange at first application. I do not notice this throughout the day. Let’s just say, it isn’t bad but it isn’t my favorite. I am a little ho-hum about this one. I do think for someone with a Light complexion, a bit of this all over would be gorgeous and really give a healthy look. It was just too much of a bronzer for me. Another big minus is that the packaging is huge and bulky, and physician’s formula compacts always seem to have the top break off for me =(

***I would first like to mention, the main product photo shown above is not the correct shade. That is the “bronzer” shade, not the “healthy glow bronzer” shade (which contains pink blocks)*** In PF’s Powder Palette series, there are three (3) bronzer shades, Healthy Glow Bronzer, Light Bronzer and Bronzer. Light Bronzer appeared the lightest, and Bronzer appeared the darkest. Bronzer looked too orange and I figured Light Bronzer wouldn’t show up on my skintone (NC30-35), so I chose Healthy Glow Bronzer.
Healthy Wear Bronzer is a mosaic powder bronzer containing a variety of matte, medium toned browns – a couple are cool, but the majority are warm. There are also a few areas of light pink. When swirled together, the combination of shades come together to create a light-medium, warm tan. I think the pink blocks give this bronzer a slight peachy-blushed tone. It’s not completely brown and I wouldn’t say it’s too orange either. It’s a pretty good balance.
The packaging is okay – I wish it was a little nicer for the price. It’s a little bulky and it’s not that pretty with it’s clear flip-top lid. I’m sure it will get scratched up to no end as soon as I toss it in my bag. What’s nice about it though is that the pan lifts up, and there’s a little compartment that houses a little brush and underneath the pan is a mirror. The brush is a little too scratchy, so I won’t be using it. The mirror will come in handy though.
The powder itself is like a really soft face powder (not in a cheap way). The coverage is pretty sheer, but can easily be built very well with light coats. It’s actually considered one of the sheerest of the whole PF bronzer range. Because it is matte, it can work well applied all over the face for added color or as a subtle contour. I like using a soft kabuki or dense powder brush and swirl the powder into my cheeks and around my hairline.
The color blends really effortlessly, and diffuses into the cheeks for a natural finish. It doesn’t appear dirty or muddy, even when layered.
The lasting power is the best when it’s applied over a foundation. I’ve applied it to my bare skin, and the color seemed to fade pretty quickly. It will get me through the day when applied over my foundation. It also controls excess oil pretty well.
Although I can’t say run out and buy this for $14, but it’s worth checking out if it’s on sale (sometimes I see it for 40% off at the drugstore).

Ok, first of all, the packaging is terrible! The compact doesn’t even shut. I don’t know if that’s why mine is really dry? This stuff feels like chalk. It does not blend at all.
On the positive side, you hardly need any to get color and I love that it is a matte bronzer.
I definitely will not repurchase, not worth it.

I purchased this because I like the different colors and being super fair it did not appear to look orange plus I thought the pink blocks would work on my very fair/cool skin. I dont use bronzer all year round only during the spring/summer months so I don’t pay too much attention or spend much time picking a bronzer out. What I like most about this is that it gives a really nice light bronzing effect without the abnoxious glitter that some bronzers contain. This really looked nice and gave me a soft natural glow and you can control how “tan” you want to look by simply using more. This bronzer is definately a good choice for fairer skins and for women who dont want to look like a pumpkin because it does not give you an orange face. It did not break me out or cause irritations, it’s inexpensive and does the job, a good bronzer and probably works best on lighter skin tones, I think they have a darker version as well for medium to dark complexions. Overall it’s a good bronzer, Im happy with it.

It’s all in the name – Healthy Glow – b/c that’s exactly what you get. I love not having to use a separate blush and bronzer and this looks so natural. I would give it a 5 except that I understand talc is not supposed to be the best for your skin… still, I’ve never broken out or anything. The only thing is the powder almost always seems to break/crumble before I’m done using it… but you can still crush it up and use it as a loose powder.

Back when I thought bronzer was a good idea, I had at least four Physicians Formula bronzers. Powder Palette Healthy Glow Bronzer was one of my favorites. It’s still a good bronzer: three or four matte brown shades, ranging from light tan to chocolate, with a couple blocks of a pink. It’s not the most orange-y bronzer I’ve ever tried. although it’s definitely not a ruddy bronzer or a cool bronzer. It’s a matte warm tan. I think it would be quite flattering on many skin tones, as it applies pretty sheerly, but it’s smooth and buildable. I’m not a fan of Physicians Formula packaging; I find the compacts are really bulky and a general waste of plastic, with a useless prickly brush, and they don’t tend to protect the powder. I’ve had lots of powders from PF get busted pretty easily. I wouldn’t repurchase because I’m NW10 and I’ve come to believe we don’t really do bronzer.

Got this in medium. Very pigmented – a little goes a loooong way. Can’t really see any shimmer which is a definite plus. Looks totally natural. I love this bronzer. It’s a thousand times better than the glittery Guerlain I got last month. I think it will take forever to finish, but then I will buy another (if they still make it by then).

so i just bought this, but i brushed it along my forearm and it looked a bit orange :/ i hope it looks differently on my face, i was looking up to the high reviews 🙂

This is my favorite bronzer ever, it doesn’t look orange (YAY) it gives you a nice tan glow, but be careful if you’re heavy handed because if you apply too much your face will look dirty. It stays on my face longer than my foundation that I apply underneath it and I have very very oily temperamental skin. Safe for sensitive skin too 🙂
