I don’t usually wear bronzer, but the older I get, the more color I feel I need on my face. I wanted to try this one because I am intrigued by the line, saw a few positive reviews, and thought it could double as an eyeshadow. Looks to be a warm brownish bronze shade with the Ambient powder in Diffused Light swirled through. Comes in a glossy metal compact, like most of the Hourglass powders. The company is completely cruelty free. And pricey…I think this bronzer was $48. Should last me forever, though, since I don’t need much at all.
It’s very pigmented, unlike the Ambient Light all over face powders, but if you apply just a small amount, it works as a bronzer with a very subtle highlight that doesn’t look too shimmery….highlighters and me just don’t get along…maybe 20 years ago, when you really didn’t see that many highlighters in makeup lines, I used Covergirl Cheekers in “Snow Plum” – but my skin isn’t as smooth as it used to be and powder highlighters, even finely milled high end brands, just seem to accentuate every little irregularity in texture. This particular bronzer does not. As long as I use a light hand, and a big soft brush (It Cosmetics tapered powder brush) it looks really pretty, with very subtle, fine gold shimmer.
I apply it after I set my foundation, use a touch of a pinker hued blush on top and on the apples of my cheeks, and then do a final dusting of the Hourglass Diffused Light. As an eyeshadow, I’ve only tried it once, applied it pretty heavily, and I think it might be too warm and coppery for my eye area. I’m going to try using a lighter hand on the eyes and see if I can make it work.
I won’t buy this one again, likely I will choose a different bronzer from the same line!
